***Misha***, ***Monsieur Mikhail Baryahnikov*** ❣ His technique was perfect, the height, strength and magnificence of his jumps, pirouettes, capers, slides, were unique. An enormous charisma, very expressive. Here is a ***Star*** who had fortunately chosen dissidence. Sumptuous tribute to the image of this illustrious immense dancer. I like his work which contributes to creating choreographies for people who have been great dancers, but who are now of a certain age. We feel so much vibrancy, beauty, elegance in his new creative performances: ) Thank you for sharing this which is enhanced by ecstatic music. Heavenly, divine. @@PamBoehmeSimon Gentlewoman: a portmanteau word you just made up because I don't think it exists in English, but I could be wrong! Thank you for your kindness and delicacy. In fact, in French, it's true that if you add an "e" at the end of a lot of nicknames, nicknames, it's to feminize them, that's what I did. Note that, in French, many feminine and French words take an "e" at the end. You probably know all his things, because I suspect that you have studied French a little bit. Very good weekend ! Misha era unico. E' frequente vedere altri ballerini che fanno dei giri così precisi ma allo stesso tempo entusiasmati? Che controllano perfettamente il piede nei passi più complicati? Che mettono tutta l'anima mentre ballano? I salti così fatti bene?

Lovely compilation, Pam. I had started this on my phone without turning the sound up and was humming the T&V music before I canceled my Do Not Disturb! What's the very last piece, the one in B&W? And I swear there's a silent clip of his T&V floating around YT where he does the double tours combination with one leg in retire, which I understand is the way Mr B choreographed it, but a harder version so you rarely see it. Can I ask if you have the DVD of that T&V performance? YT seems only to have a 2nd or 3rd generation copy of the VHS tape, and the image you posted is extremely clear.

@@PamBoehmeSimon You're a pal, pal? Do I understand correctly that you live in Texas? (If so, I'm a little above you in Utah)? Where do you get all this great footage? Oddly, the Kimin Kim channel posted a short vid of him doing exactly the same version of the Don Q coda (split/scissors leap finishing on one knee), and I haven't seen that many danseurs do that. Small ballet world!

@@PamBoehmeSimon Thanks! I remember you posting another fragment of this that included the ballerina. This name sounds soooooo post-Revolutionary Russia. Prior to glasnost (which I wish would happen again so I can get my Bolshoi Ballet films in theatres! :() there was a copy of Spartacus that floated around in which the titles were translated, and you got not so much a synopsis as a pro-Communist rave. "This is the story of the slave Spartacus, who led The People against the evil capitalistic, imperialistic oppressors, taking clever advantage of them indulging their decadent appetites..." Well, you get the idea.

Yes, I live east of Houston, so howdy sweet pal o' mine =) I find a lot of my footage on a website bilibili.com I found the T&V clip I used... it is 720p. I hope the link lets you access that version. You'll need to use a browser with a translator. I found much of the DonQ footage there all in one video. It had clips organized by year starting in 1967 through to later years. Really good but much of it was such poor quality I didn't use it.

Where do you find this music? Montage just transcendent for both Misha's dancing and the accompaniment. Since you used Le Jeune Homme..., let me say the music sounds like it could be inserted so it either has a happy ending or so the jeune homme finds himself dancing a lovely adagio with some angels trained in Balanchine technique.😇

I just did a search for Latvian folk songs or national songs. I wanted to do something different musically so I focused on his heritage. I was thrilled to find such a beautiful, haunting song. It's just gorgeous. Glad you like it and I do agree with you. I hadn't realized but you are right, it does remind one of Jeune Homme. I've always hated the end of that ballet and wished it weren't so tragic. I love your ideas for a new ending =D
