The video matches perfectly honestly. Its about a man that doesnt know how to be loved, a man who is trapped in his own mind, a man who cares but doesn't know how to do better, a man who lives off the only thing he knows, chaos.

The way I interpret it is its ment to show how young men do alot of wild and destructive shit to try and forgot about they're pain and losing loved ones. This is why the text he sent his girl said "why am I doing this to myself" and "I miss you". They hurt themselves because its better then having to deal with the pain they're experiencing.

The song is actually a song of heartbreak, the video shows the destructive lifestyle a guy goes through when he loses someone he loves wholeheartedly. It’s like he’s reflecting his past as he remembers the girl he loved. In my opinion the video was a true reflection of what he was going through after his break up and when he wrote the song.

I see it at the juxtaposition of fragility that men feel on the inside (in the song) vs the facade of "toughness" that men use to cope with trauma (in the video) together they build a picture of how men use wild behaviour to mask and cope with their fragility and vulnerability.
You can see towards the end they just sit in silence because when it's all said and done, they remember how empty and lonely they feel. The wild nature is a distraction from the loneliness.

The video definitely sends a message. The fact that it’s all chaotic seems to speak about how he thinks and does regarding his situation. Self-destruction within the self. Watching the video with the song can make such a difference than to listen to the music alone. There’s a message that he’s sending out. He’s in pain. He’s hurt. He’s depressed. It’s very chaotic. So now he’s acting out and not sure why. I know many will have a different interpretations.

I know a lot of people have said it but I belive the video is about the self destructive nature a lot of people take when trying to forget a breakup the music actually goes perfectly with the video everytime the chorus hits it becomes more and more chaotic along with the intensity of the piano playing in the last chorus this is probably my favorite music video of all time it's a juxtaposition but a perfect one that isn't purely done for shock value

This song can convey so many emotions and everyone views it a bit differently. This song and the video mixed together brought me to my knees when I first experienced it. It reminded me of college, wasn’t too long ago as I graduated like 8 months ago. But from feb27th of 2019, 12 of my friends I met in college have died. We would go around doing dumb shit, going to car meets, cliff diving, clubbing, camping, and also ingested more substances than I could recall. This song just brings me back a couple years.
For me the “glimpse of us” is my old friend group. I moved and am now with a new friend group that’s formed, whenever I’m hanging out with them it’s sort of bitter sweet. Not a day goes by where I don’t contemplate how I made it but not them, we were trade school students cause we were all broke not because we were dumb. Electrical engineering students, computer science students, welders, a wind turbine tech student, and another studying to be a mechanic. I know we did dumb stuff, we fucked around and found out. I’d rather I had gone down with the group in one of the accidents than having to now attempt to lead a good life in their stead. Anyways though, the song is great.

The video is the psychological aspect of the song... the self destructive pain that he is going through because he wants to love his partner as much as she loved him, but he's still hung up on his ex and he hates himself for it. The chaos of all of that is his head fighting his heart.

Understandable that you're not able to watch and listen to the song/video at the same time. Not everyone is able to. But the video goes hand in hand with the song. Because the reasoning for the video is how for us guys when we go through breakups like the ones that really really hurt or are just hurting inside we do stupid shit, we're self destructive at times and we wanna go out with friends to distract us from the pain and the hurt that we're feeling.

One thing I find completly perfect about the video and the music is the contrast of the internal completly raw and destructive feeling (video)
And the sad realizations and more poetic cries of a heartbrake (song)

As a person who, to be delicately vague....kina lived the life in this video in my mid 20s....this shit hits me like a freight train. People keep talking about how disconnected the lyrics are from the video, i' here to tell you there is NO disconnect. This song PERFECTLY captures that mournful, out of control, spiraling, self destructive self loathing and depression you are overwhelmed with when you are DEEP in addiction, drug abuse, living in some nasty trap house with a bunch of fellow wasters and users, watching your life and who you are as a person implode in slow motion, tormented by the memory of the real, normal, loving relationships, and normal life you use to have. I am 2 years clean and sober right now, and, when I watched this shit, I ugly cried like a baby for like 20 min. This is the realest fucking thing i have ever seen an artist create. Sometimes, as an ex-addict, you need to be reminded what those times felt like....Nothing kills the temptation to use again like feeling that feeling again, even in memory.

YOU heard it from me here: it's a portrait of a train wreck life of love and denial. IT'S all wrapped up in a cosy blanket of nostalgia, all the things we idealize "love" to be, but never ever will be. THE juxtaposition of video and audio strikes a balance between body, and mind. The mind is a fantasy maker, while the body is the poop maker. Music is supposed to drive deep into our hearts and minds. Our bodies are tools to carve through life and find meaning. The mind analyzing, the body is feeling, it's all confusion and that's most of his music. His perplexed wandering through love and real life. He is gritty and so beautiful. IT'S very Japanaese esthetic too.
    You're welcome. ^_^

He loved the woman from the previous relationship so much that no matter what he does, he still loves her. Thats why hes saying when he looks into his girlfriends eyes, all he sees is his ex. Or hes trying to get close with his new partner, but it just reminds him of what he lost. Hes said "i moved on" a million times to people, but he knows that he really hasnt. He still loves this woman and he cant help it. Thats why he feels like his current partner is just a placeholder to pass the time, because his heart is with his ex and he cant help it.

A lot of people are already saying this but the video is a very literal representation of what its like to feel unloved. As man you're not allowed to show sadness so what we tend to do when we feel this is way to do things that feel impowering and freeing like breaking laws and rules lighting cars on fire so on. When i was kid i didn't have parents and while my grandmas did what they could to take care of me i was broken. So i did a lot of similar things to this like stealing, robbing homes and cars. Fighting people just because i can and get into all sorts of trouble before i was even 13. Its because i lived a life where i didn't feel loved and how i as a guy deal with that is basically the video. Its just sucks more that if this happens to you it happens to you as an adult. I got lucky as a kid i got a lot 2nd chances because i was young and so i didn't ruin my life over my choices, but if later in life i felt like this for the first time i would be exactly the people in this video. Then the repercussions of my actions would matter a lot more and likely me a permanent scar on my life. If i had to give advice to anyone who feels unloved on lovable understand that people are like magnets in some ways because they are attract to things, but unlike magnets they attracts to the sames on opposites. So learn to love yourself and before you know it people who love you will surround you. To many people try to fill voids in themselves using other people and it just doesn't work. The only one who can patch holes in your life is you. Its also why i believe therapist don't usually tell you exactly whats wrong and what to do and so on. They just guide you into finding your answer because at the end of the day only you know truly and its self empowering when you learn you can solve all your own issues always. You're never hopeless.

My interpretation is that he’s in a new relationship and this new person is perfect for him but he still thinks about his previous relationship. I wants to be with his ex so bad that it’s becoming toxic for his current relationship. He also hopes his ex feels the same way or falls out with their new partner.
The video I’m relation to the song I feel is that after this person broke up, their new “her” is this chaotic lifestyle trying to find a semblance of feeling. They just kinda don’t give a shit anymore. But deep down no matter what he does for a rush he ends up in the same hole of wondering what he could have done or what he did wrong and why she left.

I think it very much comes to the life you've lived. I lived in an area where it wasn't the best, lots of gangs and violence. I've seen people from all kinds of walks of life and was lucky enough to be a part of all that. In that chaos, depression, and wild lifestyle that's depicted in the video, the juxtaposition almost fits perfectly how someone in that kind of lifestyle, someone in that kind of emotional turmoil can want something else entirely; a life full of small glimpses of happiness you really can't hold or grasp onto anymore and it sends you into a terrible spiral. In the video, you can see one particular character constantly with his hands on his head, like he's emotionally regretting a lot of what he did and the short snippit of the 'HELP' under the bridge really pushes that.
This song AND video hits me really hard. Listening to just the song, it's going to be interpreted as someone who's heart is broken and can't find that same love again in his new partner, and it's just him 'passing time in her arms' to get that feeling from his ex again.
When you listen to the song AND the video, you realize that it doesn't have to be on such a small scale. You can tell that the person in the video is in a crazy world of emotions and violence, and they're looking for that moment, that one moment that brings them happiness, but in the end, they simply fall into their old habits thinking things might change.
I think not watching the video hurts the interpretation a bit as it's meant to feel conflicting. On one end, you want to feel this beautiful, harmonious song, yet the video makes you understand the emotional turbulence you'd normally experience in those situations. That their lives were held together by having that 'glimpse of us'.

Joji used to make edgy, unhinged, comedy videos on youtube. He went by the name TVFilthyFrank. The characters that he would play took a toll on his mental and physical health. He quit in 2017 and started his music career.

To us who knew him through Filthy Frank it's insane. This is the man that put on a voice and bodysuit and puked up several items then ate them again.

I’m just looking for a video that he’s singing at live. I cannot find one where he’s singing it live and you can put all kinds of music together and it can sound like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey but I’m looking for a video where he’s actually singing this song I would like to know what he sounds like in reality world. So if anybody knows of a place where he sang the song in reality world not a doctor up. I would love to hear him sing it actually live I cannot find it on any site

Dude in yellow means that he's missing his girl cause they broke up, but he can't get over her and now living this self destructive lifestyle to try to avoid those really really hurting feelings he can't control and get him destroyed from his inners

i believe the music video is, in a way, a distraction. As soon as we hear the intro we know its going to be a very nice and beautiful song (the current girlfriend) but this glimpse he refers to with his ex just lingers and distracts him (the music video)...its hard to do both but thats just my take im probably wrong.

The song looks like it's someone spiraling into depression. Maybe listen to the music and then watch the video? I'm with you, it's all over the place.

Anybody know which artist he meant when he said he reacted to a similar video with an artist from Canada?
