Municipality’s have become so very heartless and inhumane concerning the low income and homeless, but thank God for the volunteers out there saving lives!

Mayor Mendenhall has failed. Not only failed, but has made it worse than it was before by treating homeless as criminals. Truly heartless

This is a system-wide problem in the United States and it's ridiculous to try to shift housing inadequacies on to churches. People want to be able to take care of themselves and affordable housing is a known pathway toward that goal.

My county in WA has a whole network of "Cold Weather" shelters that open overnight when the temperature dips below 34 degrees. Still, the red tape to open even an emergency temporary shelter is ridiculous.

Beware of unintended consequences. More giving attracts more taking. And having more homeless attracted to a cold winter climate could lead to more deaths.

Julia, your thinking helped none but yourself. Just "thinking about" is not enough unless you start thinking about how NOT to be just another person staying in the warmth of their own little bubble just thinking; come up with ideas on actions you can take to make things better for someone else going through such harsh weather and time spent homeless, and then ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING

Putting a band aid on a sucking chest wound will not help the problem. The majority of homeless are addicts or mentally ill. There is not a homeless problem; there is an addiction and mental illness problem. Those that want to be helped should be helped ( government provides enough funding) but many people do not want to be helped. People that want to get off the streets can get off the streets but if people refuse to do anything to better their situation; nothing can be done.

El Paso Mayor got millions to provide buses to house illegals crossing border as well as provides Red Cross to give out blankets food and the City of El Paso has put out those portables so they can use toilets and they offer them transportion to where ever they like to go. 1st Responders channel has all the scoop and video first hand on where they are coming in illegally. And yes its being allowed🤷🏽‍♀️ aside from the title 42 seekers .. those are being housed separately and have been processed legally.

Let me just let everyone know I know a lot of homeless people they’re not cold at all because I live in Phoenix Arizona they are all smoking blues. You’ll see a lot of tinfoil with burn marks throughout the camp. 😂 they’re not cold at all. They’re up all the time you’ll see it foil empty lighters, and homeless people passed out slumping everywhere so no, don’t feel bad for them when you give them money you’re just helping them with their addiction if the homeless wanted to help, they would clean them self up and get a job and work and get off the drugs

Yeah so dangerous, out of all the people the church helped during these movie nights to get out of the weather, how many committed a crime or did any disturbing thing that would negate them being invited back during the next storm? Please find the answer so as to prove the validity of your comment

Leave the drug and alcohol users out there. Wasting our resources and money and even our feelings. They don’t have to be homeless. There are plenty especially in this liberal town to help them get off drugs and find housing . Help them with job , mental health resources. But they chose to stay on the streets to do drugs and not work to make money. So give me a break. Never again will I give money.
