Overall popov seem to be able to match Ginting speed in retrieving, but got tricked and didn't control the rally, though we see some glimpses he did in some rallies. He spent his stamina in retrieving. If Popov improves more on his attack and his stamina as he got older, he will be more dangerous.
Commentator said Taufik is the best indonesian player ever. Rudi Hartono anyone?? 🤣🤣. Popov is fantastic, just lacks stamina. If he improves that, everything is possible. Great to see a top mens singles player from Europe from another country than Denmark.
Taufik is no way the best Indonesian MS ever. I don't even think he was the most successful - but he has an Olympic gold. Gotta love Taufik, but actually he's a little overrated. Because of his flair and that backhand. But I have seen him outskilled and destroyed by eg Xia Xuanxe at his own game, and worn down and overpowered by LCW and LD. Taufik had a very brief peak too.
I think this is a good fight and it looks like there is great potential in the player from Francis. Congratulations to Ginting and keep practicing with enthusiasm for Popov
