I once tried going Kazan -> Mughals before the buffs to Espionage and the introduction of Horde Ideas to try and max out Calvary Flanking. It was such a silly thing since the cultural group bonus for it (20%) isn't even enough to extend the range by 1 at any tech level in the game. Found out how good AE reduction was from that though.
The real OG EUIV fans remember the Shenryyr Multiplayer campaign (back in 2014 if I remember) where he played Kazan and failed to westernize until late XVII century
I have a hard time playing Horde's in EU4 because they are so different from how they are in CK2 (my first exposure to horde like nations) In CK2, you raid for an immediate benefit (gold) and then you receive a long term benefit (more manpower so you can make more horde retinue) but in EU4, you get an immediate benefit (mana points and gold) but in the long term those provinces are worse. Really hard to accept that long term penalty. *shrug*

i played an opm custom nation starting the hre with minus ae, + razing gain power, cavalry combat, etc its op as hell.. cos if u max out razing power gain idea and also u can get an event that increases it even more and eventually get more when u finish the reforms u end up like nearly +100% power gain.. also taking europe provinces early and hre meant i had TONS of mana... like getting +35 or more for each adm mil dip for every single province i took... i called my nation GOTHS - started on the coast south of gotland near teutonics & stettin etc

The reason the Ottomans could core Mansur is that you can core any province adjacent to your cores, *even* if you don't own those cores anymore, for example Byzantium could core Albanian territories since those are next to Byzantine cores, even if the Albanians are still surrounded by the Ottomans/Venice. It's the same thing with the Nizzarids in your Ante Bellum game.
btw ming doesnt often enforce tributaries in the new patches, it seems to keep expanding wildly and rarely collapses.. i was playing as malay and they took out all the manchuria area hordes and half of se asia and half of oirat mongolia etc... it was really tough to beat them
From my recent experience, Ming only need about 20 tributaries max to keep mandate high. Best experience is when I went colonial with early expansion into Indonesia and America. I ended up with 100 something tributaries.
@J Wilt Flavour Universalis is amazing, and it powers up Ming quite a bit, since it gives them 3 or 4 more great projects, like the trade port of Canton (trade power) and Terracotta army (manpower or mp recovery I believe).

my recent playthru as england i did the usual thing of winning a pu over france, then attacked aragon immediately (i was allied to castile), then attacked brittany, they were allied to scotland.. then took out all of ireland easily and rest of scotland.. then i started to attack castile and attacking their allies to keep taking their land.. after that i concentrated on colonising and invading north africa and west africa while i save scummed constantly to stop portugal & bohemia getting heirs.. every time they get an heir i reload.. which was pretty often.. and every time my royal marriage died i reloaded.. portugals leader died at 72.. pretty old, im sure the game really doesnt want me to get a pu.. it did everything it could to try to prevent it.. but when u have a time machine things all work out fine.. i got a pu over bohemia & portugal.. now its 1520 and i own all the colonial powers, most of west africa and all of north africa.. took out morrocco tunis and mamluks.. its pretty east when u have france
Yes, they add to your effective army tradition (0.5 x [Army Tradition]) + (7 x [ruler military skill]) So if you had 30 tradition and 6 mil mana king your effective tradition would be .5×30+(7×6)=57 If you had 2 mil mana king, he would role as .5x30+(7×2)=29 tradition general
If you hover over the 'turn ruler into general' option in the Military tab, it will tell you how many pips the King can have. Like 5-8. It also works with generals, so you can compare it.

Can you exploit provinces as a horde? Or can you exploit after you raze. If you can getting the achievements like the golden horde before 1500 becomes hella easy.
hey laith do you know how many vassals/pus can form other nations while ur in control of them? cos i thought it was only prussia that can form as a vassal but recently in my malay playthru i had a large mong miao vassal and they formed SHAN
@@azh698 no, about 95-99% of all formables require you to be independent. The only exceptions are Prussia (but not all versions of the decision allow it), Curonia and maybe some others which are formed by events/missions (I had Livonia formed by a vassal Livonian order)
i played great horde and conquered the world for the first time.. what do you think of great horde ideas vs golden horde ideas vs mongol empire ideas? i feel like the ideas got slightly worse each time i changed them.. or is it just me?
Mongol Empire doesn't have unique ideas. It keeps the ideas of the country they reformed from, so Yuan, Golden Horde, or Ilkhanate. I prefer Yuan in general, but Golden Horde have some spicy ones too.

I don't really understand when i should take trade ideas, and when i Google it what i only see is like "oh when you want to increase trade income" and that doesn't really say anything. When is it worth investing into trade instead in economic, besides when you have abundance of diplo points?
You take Trade when you are in a position to steer a decent amount from multiple trade nodes and have a decent trade node with 70+% TP as your main node. You take Economic when you want to stack dev cost reduction, have gold mines and want passive inflation reduction, want to stack building cost or want to pair it with offensive and quality to have space marines. You DON''T take Trade when you have a shitty trade node with no incoming routes, barely any trade power in your main/nearby nodes, or any presence in potential nodes you can steer from. You DON"T take Eco when all you want is more money but don't care about the previously mentioned. Basically, the idea is to stack more of what you already have. You don't take Trade ideas when you don't make money from trade, you take it when you're already filthy rich from trade and want to be even more rich, you don't take eco when you don't already have the things it adds up to. You want to figure out what your nations is already good at and get more of that. You don't compensate your weaknesses, you double, triple and quadruple down on your strengths.

another thing.. how come mamluk troops are so op? i was warring them as britain in like 1500... i was ahead on tech they stack wiped my 22k army with their 20k army... i mean., i only took expansion & exploration so my armies werent amazing but i feel like something weird was going on
Because they likely have the Shock scholar active which gives +10% shock and the Circassian bonus which gives them further damage bonuses. Also did they have Quality or Offensive as ideas?

I think it's only endgame tags that can't be formed while a subject nation.
