The drama itself went on to win the most outstanding Asian drama of that year at the APAN awards---if I remember correctly. I was not watching the show. People don't pay attention to the fact that Seyoung played her role to perfection as a court lady----full of grace, dignity and courage---even if it meant she might die. No wonder San was so puzzled by her because he knew she loved him--why else did she risk her life time and time again. On the other hand she knew she would lose her dignity and her sense of self. It was not San whom she was rejecting. But he is in love and it certainly feels like rejection because it hurts. I would include this in my high school literature curriculum if I were still teaching. I was told teens hated Shakespeare. I wish that people could seen what happens to teens and great literature/storytelling as teens reading copies of "Hamlet" on their desks while also watching (which is what people did in Shakespeare's time) Kenneth Branagh in the only full length production of "Hamlet". Until Branagh's version, we watched Richard Burton's version which had about 1/4 of the play missing. In both cases there was hardly a dry eye in any one of my classrooms. This included the class of supposedly unteachable students who supposedly did not care. In fact they had not even been issued text books that had the play in it. This group of students begged to take the textbooks I had begged the administration to let us have for at least the unit on "Hamlet." In none of the classes did we complete the play in one week. But it was the supposed deadbeats who came to me and asked if I would beg the administration to let them take the textbooks home so that they could find out "how the story ended that weekend. We can never underestimate the power of a well told story on our imaginations. I did not start out to write a long paragraph in response to a comment written a year ago. Thanks for your comments.
