Seriously, just bought this and MY AUDIO SOUNDS AMAZING. Seriously -- thank you so much. If you are reading this and wondering if this is worth the purchase IT IS. I can't believe how good this sounds.
Okay so, -12db peaking is practically silent, if anyone listening to my podcast hears that they will have to crank up the volume and then deafen themselves when they switch back to other applications. I'm wondering why in Audition if you "match clip loudness" to -16lufs it cranks the volume way up to average peaking around -3db to -1db. Something must be going wrong. Not to mention my meters on my rodecaster display around -6 but read into Audition at around -24. Something is wrong. I hate audio.
Just purchased your Podcast Voice Processing + Mastering Preset Packs (for $145). By the way, thank you for helping me with my settings. Just tweaked them to fit my voice and it now sounds SOOOO MUCH BETTER !!! Thanks again!
Hey! Yes, you can use them for any type of vocal processing. It's mainly focused for the talking voice, but I processing singing vocals the exact same way for my personal work :) Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hey Ryan great video thanks -- I've been Editing in Garageband --- is Audition a better back end product ? which is the best and user friendly in your view ? Cheers john
Hey! Hmm good question. I prefer the editing experience in GarageBand, similar to Logic, which is my DAW of choice. But I think Audition has more options / control for audio processing using their effects and metering
If I buy one of them, does it come with instruction. I have audacity installed, but I havent play around it. I record videos and my voice does not sound good. Thanks in advance
Hey Ryan. Is there another place we can get these presets? The link in your description says page 404 not found. Would love to apply these for my podcast.
OMG thanks for bringing that to my attention! I recently updated my website and didn't catch that url/page error You can find the presets here: bettersound.io/
Hey Ryan! I just purchased and installed the presets pack. I've found the preset that works best with my voice but its still a way off from what I would like it to sound like. I watched your video and tried some of the adjustments, but I'm new to garageband so I haven't had much luck and was hoping to not spend too much more time on it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Ryan! I'm fairly new to the podcast game and am just now learning about voice processing omg! I have one simple question...how do you adjust the db for when you're recording your audio in Garageband? I was thinking of purchasing the presents but wasn't sure of how to record at -12db. Do you just adjust the regular volume on the track from where it shows the volume slider and drag it down? Or do you go into the recording settings of the track and adjust the recording level? In the recording settings it just doesn't show the numerical db level on that particular slider, so I can't tell when its at -12 db. Thanks!
Hey! You should adjust the gain / volume of the audio input on your interface (or mic) before you begin recording. So if you need to, you can adjust in the recording settings. Lower the gain / input volume of your mic while you are speaking into it (monitoring), until the volume is peaking at -12dB. I aim to hit -24 to -12 for my peaks! I've created an article about reading dB in GarageBand to help illustrate your dB levels: www.itsryanfreeman.com/blogs/learn/reading-volume-db-in-garageband Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Hi Ryan! I checked out your site! Which preset would you recommend for a voice artist? I use Audacity and do mostly ads but would like to do more audiobooks...I just hate the tedious task of editing clicks...I’m a clicker and an esser and it sucks :(. Thank you in advance for your input! Beautiful family by the way!
Hey, Thanks so much! I'd recommend the BUNDLE to get the full complete sound. If you just want to start with something, then go for the Podcast Voice Processing Preset Pack :)
@@itsryanfreeman Thank you so much! I was going to switch to Adobe but it's so daunting. I'm glad your presets work with Audacity! I will be purchasing it soon...as a "gift" for myself once I hit a personal goal :) Yay!
Hi Ryan how do we measure our voice in low, mid or high? also I'm kind of newbie in here what's the difference between voice processing and mastering?could you explain in simple term like voice processing it's kinda like you heat the food with microwave, mastering using your pan add spice again thank you
Hey Andrew. Thanks for the comment. You can measure you voice against mine if you want. I consider my voice to be in the Mid range. It's not super low, but it's not that high... Its objective to your ear. And the nice thing about presets is that you can flip between then pretty easily until you find the perfect sound to your voice. So take cooking: Voice processing is like take a raw steak and adding seasoning and salt to enhance the flavor and making it more pleasant to eat, compared to eating a steak without seasoning. Mastering is like the heat you cook with. Combines many elements and flavors into one. I tell people it's the final polish you put on your sound. Sometimes it's hard to tell why a final mix sounds better, but it just does and that's because of the mastering. I have Before & After examples on my site if you want to listen yourself. www.itsryanfreeman.com/

No problem! No presets for Resolve yet, but I’m going to be working on it. I’ll send out an email to my mailing list if you want to sign up at the bottom of my site 😊
I export from resolve into Audition, process / mix there then back into resolve for a render. I find it so much more intuitive audio wise than trying to work inside resolve.
Hey Rayn, I have just bought the pack but and in my iMac I cannot seem to find folder”channel Strip settings” after “audio music apps”? Can you help please. Ps the iMac is new and this is first time using it. Thanks
Great video! I'm going to give this a try to see how it sounds. My chain is similar but my settings are quite different so I'm very curious to hear how things sound with your settings :)
Good question! Not really sure what I’d change... UA-cam already optimizes video/audio for viewers and they have people smarter than me working on it, so I’m sure everything (compression and other quality related issues) has its purpose.

Hey! The presets have specific EQs for different tones of voices for both male and female. I haven’t tried them on kid voices, to be honest. But I think it would be fine. You might just have to adjust the EQ a bit upwards since their voices are higher than adults.
Ryan Freeman Hi and thanks for the presets. I wonder what the volume of the podcast generally should be. After using the presets the volume is between -3 and 0 Isn’t that to load?

Thanks for the tips, but it was hard to compare the two because of the 14db difference. Maybe next time balance both sources out. Cheers

Is it possible to apply these presets to GarageBand on an iPad Pro (2020)?
Hey George. I don’t think it’s possible, as I haven’t tried it yet. These presets are made for use on the computer.
Should you record in mono or stereo?
