It's,always a possibility to react to the finalist this year, and or the winners over the last almost 70yrs... Enough content to warm you up till next year 😜
would you consider also reacting to " The ULTIMATE GUIDE to Eurovision " from Benji Blaakilde it gives you more of an idea about what kind of genres to expect out of it
You guys should definitely take a look at reacting to some the entries from years past - there's a Eurovision Song Contest channel here on UA-cam. May I recommend this as a starter - zany, and an absolutely, ridiculously catchy number... 😆 ua-cam.com/video/hfjHJneVonE/v-deo.html
the official eurovision channel has the whole semi-finals and finals on it in smaller parts, but also the full live version if you still wanna watch it. There were some really good/interesting songs this year!
The thing about Eurovision that a lot of people don’t realize is that it isn’t a talent show or a singing contest it’s a song contest. That’s why it’s fully original songs and not just covers of famous songs. Also that’s why the best singer doesn’t always win. Also it’s really important to have a great staging and overall performance as well. That’s what makes it so much fun!
you're not wrong about original but some are sampled for sure.. which is extremely common in the music industry anyways ofc.. but yes its overall performance ur right :)
I was trying to create a nice reply and anything I would have butchered, u just summed it up perfectly... yeah what you said !!! oh yes LOVE EUROVISION !!!
Hi guys. 7th May was the first semi final, 9th May was the second semi final, 11th May was the final. Please watch it but as a previous comment said, you need time, as the final is 4 hours. Love the channel and much respect.
@@avityyq Yeah, it might be wise to read up a little on all of the controversies this year before watching the finally. Also, if you want to watch the worst you have to watch the semi finals too - those are the entries that don't qualify (and even the big 5 had awesome entries this year).
All those other contests are talent contests... this is a song contest. The artists performing are often well established with lots of experience. The point of Eurovision is to vote for the best song, not the best artist... though it can be debated how well that end up working.
One of the biggest misnomers about Eurovision is that it is all political voting. Don't get me wrong, there has been *some* in the past, but not nearly as high as the reputation suggests. It stands to reason that people from the same region, or neighbouring countries, will enjoy the same types of music.
Also, regarding the LGBT thing, it mentioned Austria's Conchita in 2014, but forgot to mention Israel's Dana International, the first transgender in 1998...groundbreaking, it pretty much started the shifting towards the LGBTQ community as the big audience.
@@nadavabudi I always wonder how it's like..forgotten. Conchita and Nemo everyone being WOW LGBTQ WINNER how advanced! But seriously.. it was 1998 when Dana won and THAT was something in the 90s. (all deserving winners, tho Conchita being my least favourite beacuse ..ballad. 98% of ESC songs, I don't like ballads)
I think the major thing is that Ukraine is even sending entries althrough everything theyre enduroing. And the way they often express themselves is so unique and spectacular. Winning is great sure, but the major thing with eurovision is participating. Truly! And were so proud of our ukranian hero brothers and sisters that just keep participating! Eurovision is the joint feeling of celebrating the diversity of a whole bloody continent! 🥳
It's because we understand that the cultural war is important too. russia is actively trying to destroy everything related to our culture, so we are fighting hard to preserve it and to let the world know that it is worth preserving
The Eurovision Song Contest is run by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It should be noted that members of the EBU do not need to be in Europe and any full member can enter a song should they so wish. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are all full members. Israel, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are regular entrants and both Morocco and Turkey have entered in the past. Australia is an associate member, but because the song contest is so popular "down under", they have been invited to compete in recent years.
That video was a good introduction to Eurovision, but I noticed they kind of exaggerated the "not wanting to win" aspect of it all. Eurovision has had a bit of a glow-up since COVID, Måneskin became a massive success story out of it and basically everyone who participates takes it seriously. Some countries have left because they don't respect the LGBTQ+advocacy (Hungary, Turkey), others cannot participate anymore cause it's too expensive (Bulgaria, Romania for example). This was my first time visiting your channel, would love to see some more Eurovision-reactions! 😊
So interesting to see how people learn about Eurovision while for you it is something that you watch since you was like 5 and your parents tried to send you to sleep cause it ends around midnight or 2 am) Btw I would say there is no more purposely bad entries. I kinda feel 2024 has the best music)
My 6 year old watched it for the first time this year. He stayed up all the way until the end! He was incredibly sad during the day because of Joost, but in the end he found a new favourite: Switzerland. So he was happy by the end of the night. My 4 year old went to bed after 2 songs or so, but he watched it in the morning. Ireland was his favourite. It brought back so many memories from my own childhood though! There were two nights a year when I could stay up as long as I wanted to, new years eve and Eurovision eve. Out of those two, Eurovision eve was my favourite hands down. I like that this is sort of a universal experience Europeans all share.
@@atropatene3596 fully relate to your 6 years old) Even though Switzerland was my original favorite, I was devastated about Joost and was afraid it will ruin whole night. I feel like I wasn’t that happy about any winner in a decade! Eurovision is nice tradition, even though a lot of people have nothing nice to say about it I really love it and have so many memories connected to it through my life)
Since this video, last year Sweden’s Loreen won it for the second time first 2012 with Euphoria then in 2023 with Tattoo. First female to do it she equals and equals Johnny Logan’s record.
Update: Since last year Ireland is not the country with most wins. Sweden won in 2023 equaling the number of victories of Ireland. Also, the singer for Sweden was Loreen whom had already won once for Sweden.
No country is entering bad songs intentionally. You don't HAVE TO host, but it's a great honor and everyone wants to win. You can choose to just not participate in the first place if you can't afford it. Also, people didn't give the UK 0 points because of Brexit; the song was just that bad.
Also hosting can be expensive, but it's also very profitable. Turin hosted in 2022 and tried to host AGAIN in 2023, cause they said it was very worth it!
Actually ..... The weird performance with the megaphone and the bald guy 'dancing' - yeah that was Lithuania who'd come stone dead last the previous year. So less throwing the contest and more eff it we can't do any worse and may as well have a laugh. Also they came 6th and it's still the country's best result.
One Eurovision song that goes under the radar is 'nel blu dipinto di blu' which was the Italian entry in 1958 and came third. It was sung by Domenico Modugno and did very well in both Italy and the States. At this time other versions of the song came out and one of them was by Dean Martin and it was renamed 'Volare'. The rest is history. There is UA-cam footage of Modugno singing this at the 1958 Eurovision Contest.
It was only the second song to top the Billboard Hot 100 for five non consecutive weeks in August 1958. A year later,it was the first winner of the Song and Record of the Year Awards at the very first Grammy Awards.
I was there, in the arena, on the final night of Eurovision 2024, in Malmö . Please stay with us and follow us! Eurovision is wonderful!!! We start studying the songs in November, the year before. As soon as the countries release their songs, we listen, translate the lyrics, read about the story behind and grade the songs. When it’s time for Eurovision… we are prepared and soooo happy! Do join us in this magical world of music and entertainment! We need it!
If you need one song to sum up all the craziness that is Eurovision, I'd go for Verka Serduchka - Dancing Lasha Tumbai (it's the song with the tin foil looking outfits). It's from 2007, and they came in second (!). The song is pretty much a chaotic mess, but I feel that it sums up the madness and chaotic energy of Eurovision quite well :)
Yes, Andrei Danilko is genius! He was a cult person so many years ,with his very smart, warm humour, unique musicality and rare improvisation talent. Public loves him, his charming Verka ✨️ "simple", but very energetic woman❤️🔥🤩! ( of course, he's not joking on a stage now 😔... as I know, only on special charity events, to help his army✊🏻🇺🇦)
I love Eurovision ever since I was a kid and that is a looong time ago! For YEARS now we watch ESC with our best friends ... even the kids (up to the age of 16 - now they are 17 and 18 and don't care so much anymore) ... we have Popcorn and drinks and what ever, everyone writes down theire favorite song, the top 5 countries... it is really fun!!! 😂
What's amazing about the Eurovision is the level of production that goes into the broadcast. It is consistently one of the world's most viewed live broadcasts and gets more viewers than the Super Bowl. From a purely technical level pulling off a broadcast of this scale and level, with so many moving parts is incredibly impressive. There are a few great behind the scenes videos over on EventElevator's youtube channel from recent years. I'd also recommend watching videos of the crew changing over the stage between performances - they only have about 50 seconds to clear the stage and set up the new set, it's in-sane! WSJ's YT channel has a good breakdown of it ("The Complex Logistics of the World’s Biggest Live Music Event"). I was sure I saw a bunch of clips from a stage hand's GoPro, but I can't find it right now, it's amazing!
@@ValeryChobik it's like that every year! 2016, 2018, 2019 are all ones I remmebe being particularly well done and interesting. 2021 was pretty good too.
You don't have song contests. You have singing competitions. Singing competition is not the same as song contest, and Eurovision is NOT a singing competition.
EBU headquarters are in Switzerland, but it's a European union of public broadcasters. They facilitate European wide broadcasts by the Eurovision network since the 50's, like the annual New Year's Day Concert from Vienna.
Great reaction 👍Some of the real contestants seen in this reaction video had cameo roles in the Will Ferrell movie 'Eurovision Song Contest: The story of Fire Saga'
The Eurovision is very fun to watch. In my family, its tradition to make snacks and watch the whole final together (I personally don't watch the semi-finals - spoilers). We sit for approx. 4 hours, eat, make fun of some songs/attire choices etc., enjoy the better songs, make some bets on who will win. The voting is fun, too, cause it can subvert expectations. It has been getting less and less geographically-oriented, but it is still political and social (which has its good and bad sides). Check it out next year, you'll have fun. 😁
Yep same here! My friend and her kid comes over, she makes the sweet snacks, I make the savoury snacks. We enjoy the whole damn evening together! Just as it was in my childhood. Love it!
Eurovision is not only for countries in Europe, its for members of the EBU = European Broadcasting Union that is the television network that started it all. Little updates from this video. Sweden has now the same amount of wins as Ireland, both are at 7 wins. Swedens latest win was last year in 2023 and Irelands latest win was back in 1996. Johnny Logan as they mentioned is now the first one and only male to win Eurovision twice because last year 2023 when Sweden won with Loreen singing Tattoo, that was her 2nd win in Eurovision making her the first female and the 2nd person to win twice as she also won it in 2012 with the song Euphoria.
Dear RegenerationNationTV. I am here because of Eurovision hangover (it usually lasts 2 months for me). I like your style. Please react to more Eurovision stuff!
I love you guys this was hilarious, love seeing our much loved cousin yanks truing to get their heads round Eurovision, its weird, yes, we love it wish it was aired there for you both to watch - xxx
The Eurovision Song Contest is the largest television event in the world. At least 200 million people watch simultaneously. In the past, it was mainly countries from Western Europe that participated. But since the fall of the wall in 1989, countries from Eastern Europe have also joined. Greetings from the Netherlands (the production of 'The voice' comes from the Netherlands. And perhaps you have seen more productions from the Netherlands, of which you did not know that it came from the Netherlands)
I love seeing other countries appreciate Eurovision ❤ I definitely recommend watching some of the performances from this year! The system may be fucked but the contestants are amazing, justice for Joost! Edit: Croatia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland we’re all great +more! Also it isn’t like a TV talent show, we have those too, but more of a music festival, it is a great way to show our pride for being united and to interact with people from other countries and share our culture and art. These are full, talented musicians putting on a masterful show (and having some fun), much love and I hope to see more Eurovision stuff from you ❤
What I forgot to mention is that between the singers doing the song and the votes being presented, there is a break to allow the votes to be collected. The host country usually showcase their country's musical heritage and popular artists. For our sins in 1974 when Abba won we had 'The Wombles'! They were a group based on a kids show about a group of creatures that used to clean up Wimbledon Common and were very big at the time. I can remember Aqua (Barbie Girl) doing something when Denmark hosted and this year because it was 50 years since Abba won, there was a homage to them as Sweden were hosting. In 1994 when Ireland hosted they did a music and dance routine which was based on Irish traditional dance. It was a big hit. It was called 'Riverdance'. Whatever happened to that!!!!! Another winning song that I loved was 'Poupee de Cire, Poupee de Son' by a lady called France Gall who was French but represented Luxembourg in 1965. Up to then most of the winners were ballads and sounded very fifties, but this song was much more uptempo and had a real sixties vibe about it.
As far as Greece and Cyprus are concerned, yes, there is some degree of voting for one's friends but I've always thought that a much bigger factor was the tendency of both countries to enter songs in the Greek language and with something of an authentic Greek sound i.e. bouzouki music. Cyprus didn't do that this year and got a much lower vote from Greece than usual.
Guys, first thing I'm gonna tell you is that I'm a huge Eurovision geek from the UK, and I've hosted many Eurovision party's and Europe takes Eurovision VERY SERIOUSLY, ITS A BIG DEAL ( people like to think that is not, but everyone watchs it) it's is the equivalent to a musical Olympics and in some case build a brand new venue to host the event and apartments to the performers. EUROVISION lasts a whole week with press interviews and presentations. The first semi-final is on Tuesday, and the second semi-final is on a Thursday with the final on Saturday. The real star of the show is the second half of the final us the voting, it's very stressful I can tell you, especially last year, with the very unpopular Swiss winner, so 2025 will be in the very exclusive Switzerland.
And nobody talk about Portugal in 2017 win for the first time with the big points ever in the history, with salvador Sobral, received from júri and public 752 points 😂🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹 nobody Will can Touch this points ahah so proud to Portugal
@@RuiRablePity votes just like Ukraines latest win 😂 Portugal has never had a good song ever 😂 He won cause he looked like he was dying! It's the only win Portugal is ever going to have because they always send weird and outdated songs...
This shows all the winners from 1956 to 2021 and what is also good about it is that it shows you extra information in a simple way (where held, year, number of entrants, runner up etc.) ua-cam.com/video/O0gm9yUrczA/v-deo.htmlsi=JunpdZUOphi-tmgz (the guy also did one of all the runners up).
I remember Eurovision way back in the 1960s. . . . Sandie Shaw . . . It was set up to repair the effects of WWII. Another thing which was on TV was "Jeux Sans Frontières" - games with frontiers.
As a boy I regularly saw games without borders broadcast on various European channels where teams of different nationalities competed in games of various kinds but only for the desire to have fun together. Unfortunately the program ended in 1999 but I have seen the same spirit in Eurovision since then and this is also why I appreciate it so much.
November 16th 2023 i went to the big Songfestival party here in Amsterdam with 25 artists from many different years from the Eurovision and that was so cool! This year i go again, then it is on december 12th. In Ziggodome here in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I have golden circle ticket.
And in case you're wondering, Eurovision is the organisation/association of European TV broadcasters. Non Euro countries can be members eg SBSTV Australia, and places like Azerbaijan and Israel. Hence why they are in the Eurovision Song Contest. Australia has been broadcasting it since the early 80s and we were invited once and haven't left since LOLOLOL
Even though it's not easy to guess nowadays from the way the competition is run it's actually the song, not the artist, competing. Back in the day sometimes the same artist performed all entries in the national decider and sometimes artist was swapped out between the national competition and the international final.
Well sorry to say but we just had the Eurovision this year so next year you can also vote from the States. But Eurovision have their own YT channel where you can see the entire show from the beginning.
Wikipedia: Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard (born 13 May 1954), also known professionally as Johnny Logan, is an Australian-born Irish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for being the first performer to win the Eurovision Song Contest as a lead singer twice. Katrina Elizabeth Leskanich is an American musician and the former lead singer of the pop rock band Katrina and the Waves. In 1997, the band won the Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom with the song "Love Shine a Light". Both songs were written by her long-term bandmate Kimberley Rew. Leskanich was born in Topeka, Kansas. Her father was a Vietnam Veteran who became a colonel in the United States Air Force. Katrina and her five siblings (four sisters and one brother) moved frequently as children. The family arrived in the United Kingdom in 1976. She graduated from RAF Lakenheath high school in 1978.
There's one key piece of information that's often missed but is, in my eyes, crucial for any explain-Eurovision video: Eurovision is a network that allows television broadcasters from different countries in Europe to send live content to any other connected broadcaster. It was initially installed in the 50s and was kind of a big thing back then. To showcase it, they came up with the idea of having a big Saturday evening show of the kind that was well-established in Europe back then. However, there was one tiny issue---language. You can't very well have a live game or quiz show in a dozen languages at once. However, a song contest is mostly language-independent... The network later got used for those big Saturday evening shows---by Germany, Switzerland and Austria (and sometimes Luxemburg, Netherlands and Belgium joining in) as they share a language. Everyone who's old enough will still remember hearing the Eurovision fanfare being played when those big shows started, announcing that the same live show was being broadcast in multiple different countries. Sending live video around the world is not a big thing nowadays, but back then, even going live from anywhere but the main studio was an accomplishment, and internationally sending tapes by courier was the standard.
Since this video was made, Sweden has also won 7 times, and the Swedish Singer Loreen, was also the first time a woman has won Eurovision twice ! - And this year 2024, 'EVERYBODY wanted to win. All songs was over-the-top great.
One thing to bear in mind is how far eurovision was ahead of it's time. When it started in the 1950's it was created to help a war torn continent (europe) heal whilst utilising the very modern technology of TV. Such a huge, international, TV live event was groundbreaking!
It was never mentioned but Eurovision wasn’t the first show of its type. The San Remo Music Festival in Italy was the basis for Eurovision. It began in 1951 while Eurovision began in 1956.
Hey guys, the full grand finale livestream should be on UA-cam. There are also semi-finals, but they aren't as important to react to. If you react to the whole thing and put it behind paywall, I'd be happy to pay for it. 😁
I will highly recommend one of the best video about Eurovision and the diversity and styles that is part of the show That video is "The ultimate guide to Eurovision" It is fun and I love to see peoples reactions to it. Also it is a live show so there has sometimes been people's slipups, microphone problems, technical problems and stage invades over the years. It is all good fun and part of the show
How can you never have heard of Eurovision in 2024? Have you been living under a rock?! It gets double the number of viewers of the Super Bowl each year!
It is not true. Actor Andriy Danylko, who plays the role of Verka Serdyuchka, repeatedly talked about this in an interview, these costumes were created by him and his creative team. Perhaps such a myth arose about this suit, because this artist has a song about how she (Verka) walks down the street in Dolce & Gabbana clothes. Hello from Ukraine, Kyiv❤✌️
The first English language song to win Eurovision was Sandie Shaw who represented the UK with “Puppet On A String” Flo Rida was merely a featured guest on singer Senhit’s “Adrenalina”
There is a great compendium video under name of Schlager l think....compilation of all Eurovision winners from very 1st one. Something as suggestion now you have seen this one.
But this didn’t even include the most iconic Eurovision performance of all time, Ukraine’s Verka Serduchka. You HAVE to watch it! And Sweden and Ireland have won seven times each now.
You know, nearly everybody is misinterpreting the original concept of the contest (that's at least, what I took from it over the last decades): The contest IS about the SONG (melody & lyrics) - But most of the public audience judge the artist, the vocals and/or the performance. In my opinion that's the reason why the winners are often the "best singers" or "extraordinary performances" that caught the current Zeitgeist the most and not the best "songs" (from a writers/componists view). Not to forget the geo-political "haggle over the voting points". It became a little better in the last years, but in the 90s e.g., you could nearly predict the top score (12 points) from each country in advance. It was just "neighbours" or "political friends". Russia got 12 points from all former CCCP-Nations, the former Yugoslavian states made it up under them, etc. And Germany didn't get many points at all for years, because we initiated the economical "EU", set the rules for everybody, and told them what to do and what not to do (exaggeration, yes) 🤣 But anyway... the fun is, what matters and makes the ESC worth watching. BTW.: I'm not a "fan" of the ESC as per definition, but the ESC belongs to my life once a year like Easter or Christmas do. I watched "Nicole - Ein bisschen Frieden (a little peace)" 1982 as a 7-year-old, sitting on the carpet in front of the TV set and my parents on the sofa. I was a student in Babelsberg, when Germany had the first "uncommon", but successful act by Stafen Raab with "Guildo Horn: Guildo hat Euch lieb (Guildo likes you all)" and I was on a great (weird, but funny) Travesty ESC Party on Gran Canaria (Spanish Island of the 'Islas Canarias') in another year. The ESC is a very entertaining event, I'm convinced many Americans would love it, too! 👍
We have a saying in Finland "metalli on paskanakin parasta", which translates to "even when metal is shit, it's the best", and Lordi is good example of that 😆 Anyways, that said, the thing I have to say is that, Conchita Wurst - Rise like a Phoenix, was best one by far in that year (2014). When I first heard it, I said "I'm very surprised if this doesn't win". So, you should check that song for sure, I think it's one of those songs that shows what ESC (Eurovision Song Contest) is at is best. Yes, there is many others, but it's good to start from somewhere 😊
The original purpose of Eurovision and Jeux sans frontières (Games without frontiers) and the EEC post 1945, was to prevent WWII in Europe. To prevent culture hatred due to ignorance of the culture of other countries. I remember watching Eurovision in the 1960s when each country sang in their own language. That changed with Abba.
This video was apparently made before the results of Eurovision 2023, in which Sweden won for a 7th time, matching Ireland, with the only WOMAN to win twice, Loreen (2012, 2023) As she is also a songwriter, there is a distinct possibility she could match Johnny Logan in that category as well - she actually co-wrote her 2023 song, so take that for what you will). Important note though.... all of Ireland's victories came well before the Eastern Bloc and Ex-soviet/Ex-Yugo nations entered the contest en masse - with its final victory in 1994 being with only 25 contestant countries, and the first time the Eastern countries were majorly represented (total of 9, but then . At that time the contest was being limited in total contestants - only to expand later on. As opposed to Sweden which has four of it's seven victories since 1998 onward, that being the year the Eastern nations really began to be very active. in 2004 a Semi-finalk phase was added and the active participants shot up to 36, and peaking at 43 in 2008 and 2011 ( never again dropping below 37 (2024). Part of that decline is fascist regimes in Hungary and Turkey, with Belarus and Russia being banned for violating the EBU concepts etc***. But it does mean that Sweden won its 2012, 2015, and 2023 contests against far more competition than Ireland did. ***[Belarus refused to retract its overtly politically propagandistic song in 2021, and Russia was expelled for obvious reasons in 2022. Israel failing to be expelled for the same reason caused a literal earthshattering conflict at the contest in 2024, and most people suspect they werent banned because the main sponsor of the contest was a major Israeli company - obviously the EBU would never admit to such a thing however.]
Hi Mike & Jess, I'll send you a reminder next year 🙂 when we know the dates, normally on a Thursday - Friday - Saturday, the 1st semi-final is on day 1 -- 2nd semi-final on day 2 & the Final day 3
The voice, American Idol, even Got Talent are "singing competitions", their looking for a singing talent. Eurovision is a "song contest", what represents the country is first the song, and in a second term the performers. Sometimes they change performer (Spain sent Massiel singing in Spanish in 1968, instead of Joan Manuel Serrat, that insisted on singing the song in Catalan), but the representing song is the one.
now sweden also has won 7 times as we (im swedish) won last year with the song "tattoo" by Loreen who fun fact is the second person and only woman to have won twice. The other person who has won more than once is johnny logan who has won twice as a performer and once as a songwriter
If you want the weird and woeful entries I've got a playlist called 'Euro Loca'. Theres also some wacky stuff in 'Best' of playlist - Dsinghis Khan, Booniki Bate Doba, Llubi Llubi I Love You, Dancing Lasha Tumbai, Alcohol is Free, Occidentali's Karma (thats the one shown with the guy in the gorilla suit), Toy, Zero Gravity, Hatrid mun Sigra, Give That Wolf A Banana, In Corpore Sano, Samo Me Se Spavo, Cha Cha Cha and the Estonia one this year.
The Eurovision Song Contest has turned in to a shell of its former self. A parodie of it even. When in yester year the winners would be remembered, nowadays people forget who won a few weeks after. I can name every winner from 1974 to about 1994. After that it began to slide downhill. I mean, some winners even became famous across the globe.

Hi guys. 7th May was the first semi final, 9th May was the second semi final, 11th May was the final. Please watch it but as a previous comment said, you need time, as the final is 4 hours. Love the channel and much respect.
Agreed - You need some dedication to watch Eurovision... Don't just watch the individual songs - it's an entire show with so many good things! :D
It is still on Peacock last I saw! So many good songs this year!!!
@@pagaporvista569this year was such a massive mess if you dont know any of the context
"..this is a song contest."
It WAS a song contest. Nowadays, it's more of a competition to see who can be the most depraved.
@@RandomerFellow don’t be a damp flannel! It’s still a song contest and most songs are not very good so it’s who presents well, too.
One of the biggest misnomers about Eurovision is that it is all political voting. Don't get me wrong, there has been *some* in the past, but not nearly as high as the reputation suggests. It stands to reason that people from the same region, or neighbouring countries, will enjoy the same types of music.

It's because we understand that the cultural war is important too. russia is actively trying to destroy everything related to our culture, so we are fighting hard to preserve it and to let the world know that it is worth preserving
also, they're just like the best at it lol
As an American, i think eurovision is literally so cool- like i always cheer for my favorite countries lol (Love to my top four! 🇬🇷🇺🇦🇫🇷🇳🇴❤❤❤❤)
So interesting to see how people learn about Eurovision while for you it is something that you watch since you was like 5 and your parents tried to send you to sleep cause it ends around midnight or 2 am)
Btw I would say there is no more purposely bad entries.

Hello from Ukraine. And thank you for your reaction video!
Making her only the second person to have won at least twice :D
(I'm such a fan :) )
This years eurovision might still be on Peacock in the USA
It is, 2023 is still on Peacock as well.
Nono the UK definitely enters bad songs when it doesn't want to pay. They really often don't care but enjoy watching it
Also I'm pretty sure in a few countries the songs are chosen through another contest in which the public decides the winner
@@vi4654 That's the most common method.

More Eurovision reactions!
We need it!
Um it’s a ‘song’ contest. Not a ‘singer’ contest
...nor "singing a song" contest. 😂
Yes, of course.
Or my all time favorite West Germany 1979, DSHINGIS KHAN
Yes, Andrei Danilko is genius!
He was a cult person so many years ,with his very smart, warm humour, unique musicality and rare improvisation talent.
Public loves him, his charming Verka ✨️ "simple", but very energetic woman❤️🔥🤩!
( of course, he's not joking on a stage now 😔... as I know, only on special charity events, to help his army✊🏻🇺🇦)
They forgot Lara Fabian, she finished fourth for Luxembourg in 1988, in the same year in which Celine won.
This year's Eurovision Song Contest was controversial, to say the least!
This year, the technical level of Eurovision is amazing.
@@ValeryChobik it's like that every year!

You don't have song contests. You have singing competitions. Singing competition is not the same as song contest, and Eurovision is NOT a singing competition.
It's not always about the songs, one of the biggest things to come out of eurovision was riverdance
I understand that the name of the show is taken from the name of the original Swiss television broadcaster of the show, Eurovision,
EBU headquarters are in Switzerland, but it's a European union of public broadcasters.

Yes! React to Eurovision 2024 grand final video

Wikipedia:
Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard (born 13 May 1954), also known professionally as Johnny Logan, is an Australian-born Irish singer, songwriter and musician.
Switzerland has won in Sweden i.e. next year ESC will happen again in Switzerland which hosts ESC 2025.

It began in 1951 while Eurovision began in 1956.
that video is old. Sweden now has same amount of wins as ireland, 7 wins. And Loreen won for us twice becoming the first woman to do so.

Verka's silver costume was designed by Dolce e Gabbana as far as I know. 😊
It's funny that Verka has a song in Ukrainian in which she sings about walking down the street in a Dolce & Gabbana suit.
What's often not mentioned, is that Eurovision is one of the biggest live televised events in the world. With almost 170 million live viewers.
The first English language song to win Eurovision was Sandie Shaw who represented the UK with “Puppet On A String” Flo Rida was merely a featured guest on singer Senhit’s “Adrenalina”
By the way,Sandie won in 1967,11 years after the first contest in 1956.
You always can watch one of the many years recaps and to comment what do you think....that would be really awesome. Greetings from Spain.
Actually it is a SONG CONTEST!! NOT A SINGING CONTEST...
What is most remarkable is that the Eurovision Song Contest was created just 11 years after the end of World War II
❤
Yeeees, please react to Eurovision 2024!
You know, nearly everybody is misinterpreting the original concept of the contest (that's at least, what I took from it over the last decades):
The contest IS about the SONG (melody & lyrics) - But most of the public audience judge the artist, the vocals and/or the performance.
And Germany didn't get many points at all for years, because we initiated the economical "EU", set the rules for everybody, and told them what to do and what not to do (exaggeration, yes) 🤣
But anyway... the fun is, what matters and makes the ESC worth watching.
I understand that the name of the show came from the original broadcaster of the show, a Swiss television broadcaster called Eurovision
Maybe having a quick read of the history of the contest will correctly inform you - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_Song_Contest
We have a saying in Finland "metalli on paskanakin parasta", which translates to "even when metal is shit, it's the best", and Lordi is good example of that 😆
Anyways, that said, the thing I have to say is that, Conchita Wurst - Rise like a Phoenix, was best one by far in that year (2014). When I first heard it, I said "I'm very surprised if this doesn't win". So, you should check that song for sure, I think it's one of those songs that shows what ESC (Eurovision Song Contest) is at is best. Yes, there is many others, but it's good to start from somewhere 😊
Theres a video out there of all Eurovision winners thats maybe worth reacting too.
I was in Liverpool for Eurovision - Its was a Great show , Shame Mae never did better
I WOULD LOVE to see yall react to the eurovision song contest 2024 songs!!! All 37 of them! And maybe see yalls ranking of all songs!!
France did enter a song which wasn't in French, but was in a language spoken in France, namely Breton!
It is the public of any country ( should be )that choose their entry from a selection in an early part of the competition
