      I mean, I know it's pedantic a tiny bit, but I would nitpick that "formally" is usually more like, "officially ( but not really, shhh)." However your version is also technically correct, as long as it isn't _only_ formal, whatever it is. Heh.

      @@BedtimeSCP It's just a minor detail for future reference. The fact you even tried to use "formerly" to interpret the strike-through in the document was a great touch and is how I imagine an SCP reaearcher would read it.

      There's a surprising amount of discussion between SCP and Skip. I've figured that MTF and more kinetic focused people would say Skip to save time communication in the field, while the 'eggheads back at base' would use the proper SCP pronunciation.

    using my knowledge of how to escape a Rip at sea, she should've started moving to the side with her retrorockets, and tried to sling herself back around. Basically pick up speed going left then hit a hard turn to go back towards the portal. The whole dynamics of it might be different, but it would've likely worked better than just swimming against the current. Also what idiot leaves the rockets running for a week and DOESN'T notice until she's stranded?? I'd have turned tail the moment I started moving faster than a snail, cause that's an instant red flag.
    Also if the foam was getting thick enough to feel against you then I'm certain that the power produced by the rockets would've cooked the ship as it heated the surrounding air. And if the ambient temperature is increasing then her ship would've been a sauna then an oven really fast. Tbh she should've fashioned some oars to row her way back to the portal if the foam was thick enough

      See, that's my problem with literally SCP that tries to tackle cosmology and the greater scope of physics: They have absolutely no idea what they're talking about, and we're supposed to swim in a pool of suspended disbelief.
      Sorry, can't do it. Be a better writer, it's not up to me as a reader to make your bad ideas make sense. That's religious territory.
      Another horrendous one, "The Tachion Express". The author literally describes it as a "non-anomalous Faster Than Light spaceship drive" okay, then how? Explain. But then he completely loses anyone who knows Jack about anything by saying "it's currently ORBITING the Earth."
      Excuse me? Non-anomalous FTL drive, and it's ORBITING a PLANET?
      NON-ANOMALOUS?
      If you go 1% the speed of light nothing in this GALAXY can keep you in a stable orbit. Nothing. You're at post 100% and telling me a stable orbit around ANYTHING, let alone a SMALL PLANET is possible without fking MAGIC?
      Stay in your lane, writers.

      @@sussinhardrn1048 wdym? I ain't heated. I literally said she should've made oars to row herself back, does that scream taking the story seriously? Even with the other guy, he raised some decent points about the story, nothing mid-wit about questioning poor narrative logic, albeit maybe a bit gatekeeping.
      And wouldn't mid-wit just mean average intelligence, since that would be the "middle of wit"?

    • @BedtimeSCP
      @BedtimeSCP  Місяць тому

      For the first part, in defense of the writer, it might have to deal with gravitational expansion. Where on the atomic level space is expanding, so instruments to measure distance are unable to detect it due to their own internal system expanding at the same rate. Make it uneven, so that the expansion forward of the craft is expanding faster than the rear of the craft and it could have an accelerating effect. The lack of velocity change probably should have been noticed with the lack of feeling deceleration, but that's the way the author wrote it.
      I would've highly appreciated them just rowing back home though.
