I love that he hit one chord on Brit 59 and it was so overwhelmingly HiWatt that he instantly let a few “The Who” chords ring. That right there might have sold me on this as a new “practice” amp
It has a heap of the same tech that was in the MV range, so you pretty much get the MV50 mini-heads in a combo amp. In the studio, to our ears at least, this thing is pretty freaking cool. Cheers - Murdoch
Better Music: thanks for this review, in your opinion, how does it compare to the Vox VTX40? (would presume it is the predecessor to this new Cambridge 50)?
I had the VT40 and i wound up selling it because of that annoying hiss. Its a shame because there were a lot of things about that amp that were good. I really want to try this Cambridge 50.
@@richiebialek2618 Way back circa 69 our band used to practice in a school hall, for free, so every 2nd month we did a gig for them to pay for it. It's still one of my best memories after setting up we'd go for a few beverages, when we walked back into the hall, I can still hear that wonderfull hiss that filled the room, from 2 AC30's a Laney and an Orange sitting getting warm ready for us to ROCK. If I wound up a modern valve amp and it didn't hiss I'd be convinced something was wrong. Mind you the hiss totaly vanished as soon as a note was struck.
Robert Finley it’s way better than my av30!! I’m in love with Vox all over again. Next level sound! Will be doing small gigs with it. The Watt dial is on top!!
You do realize that the 1959 is the Marshall Super Lead Plexi and the 800 is the JCM800, right? Just checking since you named Soldano but couldn't tell if you were joking about not knowing what the other ones were.
Yet another small amp with small, fussy onboard controls inexplicably buried on the top/back of the amp...is there some law against putting them up front where they are easy to see and use??
Yeah, the cab would then either only fit a 6 or 8” speaker or need to be much bigger. Big cabs are harder and more expensive to store and ship. So small and cheap means controls on the top or back.
Being 4 ohm means you can use any speaker load higher than 4 ohm. So you have the choice for 8 or even 16 ohms, only you would use some power, but the amp has enough power anyway 😁
I was hoping I would finally get to hear the Marshall sounds on low gain, but nooo..... Just cranked gain little kid distortion like every other reviewer 😢😢😢... The only way to tell if a amp is good as to hear how much sustain it has when you turn the gain down, but no one does that😢
Yes... skip the heavier tones... we know what they sound like... we know they will work. Now we don't.. which is why we are are here... stops watching vid and gives thumb down...smdh
That classic Strat tone disappears, the more gain you use. Good sounding amp, and the AC 30 sounds were really good.
This unit is incredible. I have been dying for Vox to release something like this.

By far the GREATEST demo on this amp I’ve watched. I watched a lot of them because I’m purchasing one! Really looking forward to delivery today! 😎🎸🔥
How would you compare sound quality (valve sound) to vt40x with lamp pre-amp? Of course it's not about volume power now ;)
Excellent demo! But ... How well does this thing take Distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedals?
I bought one they take petals really well
Am I the only one that appreciated the Monty Python intermission
Why is there no mid control !!! Why!!! Do companies continue to make this mistake!
Eq pedal can fix this for ya
Technically you can boost mid by lowering bass and treble than turn up volume
I've watched 2 vids of this amp sounds great but the 2 demos playing the same guitar strange or maybe coincidence.
Nice amp, great looking guitar!
sounds pretty good, better than the Katana (too fuzzy)
I love my mv50 clean, I'm hoping this is going to sound as good

We should have a whip round and raise some money to buy this bloke a speaker or two. Poor guy doesn't have enough.
This looks like a great practice amp solution
Well the high gain sounds sound better than the katana to me but still gotta try it
A damn good amp!! 👍
Does this amp have the hiss at the end of notes ringing out, as i've noticed on line 6 spider iv's?

which is better vox v40x or vox cambridge 50?
So......... how is this much different than the Vox VT40X or the Vox AV30 ?
And vx series or small minirythm?
Robert Finley it’s way better than my av30!! I’m in love with Vox all over again. Next level sound! Will be doing small gigs with it. The Watt dial is on top!!

Vox's answer to the katana.
Vox's answer to Vox VX50 GTV. Same engine, different cabinet-speaker build.
What mics are being used on the amp?
Question: If this goes up against the Boss Katana 50, how does the Cambridge 50 sound at 'bedroom volumes?'
Robert Stager has power attenuation so I’m interested as well i like the interface for cpu better than boss
Curious about this too. Just got the boss 5 v2 and really not a huge fan. Might swap it out depending
Is it better than the Vox VT100X?
With delay and reverb on the same switch, can you do both without the app?
So is this the tech of the Adio in a 12 inch speaker cab?
Yet another small amp with small, fussy onboard controls inexplicably buried on the top/back of the amp...is there some law against putting them up front where they are easy to see and use??

It's a Vox tradition goes back to the 1st AC models, late 50's early 60's and onwards..
It's got more of an analog vibe than the analog katana!
How are there 11 amp models? I count 10.
the 11th is the new Line amp: brought to you by Vox to emulate your guitar DI to sound like a DI
Can you remove the Mike so we can hear the real sound
Hey man! Great review! Quick question: Is it an 8ohm 12 inch or a 16ohm 12 inch speaker?
12inch 4ohm
Being 4 ohm means you can use any speaker load higher than 4 ohm. So you have the choice for 8 or even 16 ohms, only you would use some power, but the amp has enough power anyway 😁
sounds the most natural to me.
This Cambridge 50 vs vt40x ?
I returned the Katana 50 for the VT20X, then returned the VT20X for the Cambridge. F'ing LOVE IT!
Good. I like your accent.
that tone room app is absolute shite needs major updates
Once you played metal you had me eyeballing this amp.
I was hoping I would finally get to hear the Marshall sounds on low gain, but nooo..... Just cranked gain little kid distortion like every other reviewer 😢😢😢... The only way to tell if a amp is good as to hear how much sustain it has when you turn the gain down, but no one does that😢
It has the nutube tech. which is a Kong product. No schematics no way to get it fixed if it breaks so buy at your own risk
The internet has done such damage to intellect. The amp and the narration mic are too different in level. Let's hear the devil box.
Yes... skip the heavier tones... we know what they sound like... we know they will work. Now we don't.. which is why we are are here... stops watching vid and gives thumb down...smdh
