    I've done only a couple day sessions but I love them because I can focus on just one tattoo and don't have to worry about anyone else. It's easier. I do take mini breaks up to 10 or 15 minutes depending, but not many. I like to just power through if my client can. And it's a great feeling when you finish. I feel I accomplished something very well compared to smaller, shorter-time tattoos because I nearly literally worked the full 8(+) hours rather than had pauses between clients throughout the day. I suppose it does rely heavily on the client and so far I've had great clients for day sessions. I love the pointers though! The head lamp is a great idea!

    Very cool tips! Especially those about helping your customer. I’ve been to many different tattoo artists in different countries as a customer and I must say unfortunately not many think about it, but those who do, really stand out and you always want to come back

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo

      Thankyou , Yes I've experienced how it is when tattooer doesn't care about customers or even artwork...
      Customer has to be comfortable too, as getting tattooed is already uncomfortable feeling. So I believe the better customer will feel the better outcome of the tattoo will be.

      Dan D I’ve been tattooed by Anrijs twice and I agree with a lot of what he said here. Have a good big breakfast to start your day. Have lots of water and snacks. I always have sweeties or a bit of chocolate because in a long sitting you will need your energy. I would recommend a pasta lunch or something like that. You can eat it cold and it’s full of stuff that will give you energy. Because by hour 4 onwards you feel drained because your body is processing pain and is suffering. I would have a friend with you or an iPad or music as a good distraction. If your sitting and dwelling on the pain then you are not going to last. Happy distraction is a must. Hope that helps.

    I'm looking to get my first rotary machine and would like to know what you recommend, I'm still an apprentice but would like something I can do smooth black and grey but also pack in colour, I use coils for lining so I won't need to use it for that, keep up the rad videos they help so much!

    Hey Anrijs! I am big fan, thanks a lot for all those videos. I have one question about headtorch. Do you use cold or warm light headtorch? I am not sure if its a valid question but I was wonder if theres difference between them. Thanks a lot and keep it up! ♥

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  6 років тому +1

      to be honest I don't have a clue. I believe it's cold, as led light is bright white. more blue tone to it maybe, it's not warm tone to this. but I don't think that would be too big of a problem if it was warmer.

    was curious on the overnight aftercare on two consecutive day sessions. and how many days in a row can an artist work on a sleeve?

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  2 роки тому

      how many days artist can work on a sleeve all depends on what technique is used , approach to it and of course customers strength and pain tolerance. I have done 3 days in a row many times. however I think 2 days is better, as most of the times 3rd day can be draining for both , tattooer and customer. But I've seen sleeves that's done 4 days in a row too by other artists.
      for the aftercare on multiple sessions I highly recommend - Dermalize Absorbent Pads. (I haven't had chance to make a video about them yet, but hopefully will do in the near future)
      you can cover the area where you finish on the first day , secure it with Dermalize Film. and leave it on till customer is back on the next day. By then most of the redness/swelling and soreness will be gone for that area, so you can easy carry on.

    i run out of energy and focus after a 3 or 4 hours,, is there anything i can do to recharge myself? maybe some food or vegetrables?

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  6 років тому

      I would advice to slowly build it up . maybe try tattoo 3,5 hrs, then 4,5 hrs etc...
      You can eat quickly 3-4 bananas. They are high in calories and nutritional value (pure energy)
      that will keep your body running.
      I always go for bananas to recharge, as it's so easy and quick to eat them, takes only few minutes break.
      I work with lot of detail and sometimes it's easier to zone out. like for example when I feel loss in concentration I don't start doing small detail - eye or nose.
      I work little more on background or hair , where I can have some freedom.
      and I start important details after some time when I feel more concentrated.
      good luck.

    Longest session I've done as a tattooist was 8 hours but most of them are only 3 to 5 hours. Most people can't handle 7 hours lol.

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому +1

      I believe it's depending on the style of tattooing. Most of my customers sit ok for 7 hours for realism. But when I do more lines / lettering / more traditional styles, then yes, most of them don't want to get 7 hours. Good session what most of the people would sit - is around 3-5 hours agree!

    • @RyokoInk
      @RyokoInk 3 роки тому

      @@AnrijsStraumeTattoo appreciate the response man, I was wondering. I'm just now getting into learning realism but for the most part I've just been doing neo-trad and trad stuff so it's usually 3 to 5 hours max for me so far. The 8 hour one was a bunch of flowers so it prolly didnt hurt them as much.
