I think that alakazam is gonna dominate with high special as soon as he gets psybeam. Curious to see!! Edit: I was right but it was closer than I thought. Two titans!
Y’know I find it super ironic that Alakazam, the Pokémon praised for its high IQ just used brute force to bulldoze its way through to the end, meanwhile Gyarados, the Pokémon known for mindlessly rampaging, had to utilize skill and different tactics in order to work past its opposition
@VanMan i mostly was accounting for the fact that Abra doesn't learn moves and would be using struggle, and I figured gyarados has better stats than kadabra. But I wasn't sure how the level up rates would affect it.
I'm at the prediction part. I feel Alakazam will level up faster and that will help near the end game. It will be neck and neck till the middle game where gyradoes has to face surge and Erica and do it under leveled.
This is such a good race I'm glad I clicked on this video. While it is a tough choice on thinking alexam clinches it second half of the game and Elite Four. I never believed it would end like that!!! Such a great showing. Alakazam did way better early game than I imagined.
That was crazy close lol I know gyarados is strong but I figured alakazam would win since psychic is stupid strong in gen 1 as well as stupid frail tbh
I’m new here but I think Alakazam has this in the bag. Psychic type is just so broken in gen 1 and being able to outspeed every major boss fight with an unreal dual purpose special type makes it next to untouchable. Only win condition for Gyara is maintaining the lead it will inevitably get before Alakazam gets an attacking move at 16 but I don’t think that’s likely… especially with Alakazam’s considerably faster growth rate
Didn’t realize you were starting with confusion… absolutely no question in my mind that Alakazam wins this one. Faster growth rate, better type, better special, it was built to tear up the gen I games
As a prediction, I think gyarados is gonna have a better start due to having better bulk making UT a little safer but I think alakazam is gonna pull too far ahead once it gets psychic
Don't have the time to watch the full vid but wanted to comment for the algorithm anyways! Currently watching the magnemite one right now. However I reckon my boi alakazam would wipe the floor with gyarados tbh! I'll defs come back and watch the end for the result
I'm confused. How did the level 5 Alakazam start with Confusion when the level up charts show that it should get that at level 16? Same thing with Gyarados...
Good question. It’s because evolved Pokémon are coded with moves starting at level 1, even if those same moves would be learned at a later level after evolving from a previous Pokémon that didn’t have it.
Alakazam is stupidly powerful gen 1 and in such a better level up group than Gyarados. Neither will likely struggle until around Koga/Sabrina/Rival 5. If literally any of Koga's pokemon gets to blow itself up, it will likely ohko 'Zam, but the odds of that occurring seems around 1/256 to me. Psychic being a 135 power (post STAB) attack off of a 135 base special stat only resisted by other psychic types is just too good. The relevant psychic enemies all come after access to seismic toss and psychic dropping special (defense) incredibly commonly makes me think they won't be too much of an issue. The real interesting bit to me is if Gyarados will be better served using a rare candy or two early on and relying on its excellent base stats/movepool for the E4/Champ. Thunderbolt/Body Slam/Mimic should about trivialize Lorelei, Bruno is laughable with a water/flying type, Thunderbolt/Blizzard should crush Lance... which leaves RNG hell against Agatha trying to take out Gengars with Hydro Pump/Blizzard and the Champ MAYBE being rough? Gyarados matches up well against the Champ. That means rare candy early may be worthwhile, as its really only Agatha that's a threat from losing out on a level or two endgame. My prediction is that Alakazam tops any list not including Legendaries whilst Gyarados is only top 5. Alakazam vs Gengar would have been an interesting competition and probably closer than this will be. I wonder who could compare to Gengar that ISN'T Alakazam/Gyarados/Nidoking/Queen. Lapras/Jynx/Starmie/Exeggutor/Tauros all have early shallow early movepools and Slowbro/Snorlax are both likely to lose too much time with how long battles will take (despite probably plowing through the game with few, if any resets). That leaves maybe Cloyster giving a good race for Gengar?

Alakazam will win, hes faster and hit harder, in GEN1 you dont ave psychic counters, Alakazam Can basically 1 shot any pokemon, and he can lvl pretty fast.

Did anyone else see a level 60 Alakazam facing a level 59 Alakazam at 24:02-24:17, or did my phone just get a loading error for a bit there?
Nice! This was a great run with Gyarados. Alakazam seems like it needs way less finagling though.
Having seen the run before, I'll say I enjoyed this run. I also really would like to see a race where you start as Abra and magikarp and evolve them.
Abra would win, no contest. Magikarp’s slow level up rate would doom it from the beginning. Abra also evolves four levels sooner.
@VanMan i mostly was accounting for the fact that Abra doesn't learn moves and would be using struggle, and I figured gyarados has better stats than kadabra. But I wasn't sure how the level up rates would affect it.

Cool video! Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Alakazam's biggest advantage is his million-IQ "press A to win" strategy.
Alakazam will win the first run but Gyrados will eek out a victory in the 2nd race.

Predict Alakazam to win solely because it's in the Medium-Slow level up group, and Gyarados is in the Slow group.

I think Alakazam will win, but I realllllllly want gyarados to take this home!
CONFUSION, TELEPORT, DISABLE
DRAGON RAGE, BITE, LEER, HYDRO PUMP
I reckon gyrados will win, he has a big advantage in the early game with dragon rage that just might pull it past Alakazam
Alakazam has this, hands down. Gyarados's water and flying combine typing gives it more weaknesses than the pure psychic of alakazam.
Didn’t a reupload happen yesterday?
Yep, ran into tech issues.

Poliwag video been removed? I'd like to see that one.
Yep, something went wrong with my mic and the audio was terrible with no way to recover it.
@@vanman9142 shame but these things happen. Quality content, keep it up!
I’m guessing Alakazam wins, but not by TOO much. It’s raw stats and strays are top tier, enough to probably make up for its limited move pool.
Dejavu? What happend last Time?
Unforeseen tech issues.

@@Wilkey89 especially the scam/spam kind
Imagine the difference if they were in the same level Up group
Yeah I’ve thought about that. It’s possible Alakazam would still get it just because of Surge and Agatha, but it would be a lot closer.
Now you need to do Mewtwo
You cheated. If you completely beat silph to unlock Sabrina, you can't return to silph to face 1 trainer before the rival past viridian.
Those were two separate test runs lol.
What about vileplume vs victreebell
That would be a good match up, we’ll probably do that one eventually.
