Yes, Westwood's ALT Piano is a really beautiful instrument. I love the layers and processing, as well as the mic positions. They really did a great job with it. Thanks so much for watching.
This piano is super inspiring. I am spending literally hours playing it, and I am not even a piano player, just a humble composer ☺️ I could listen to you playing it for hours and I wouldn't be bored, well done!
Wow, thanks for the kind words. As you keep exploring, learning and playing you will notice subtle improvements along the way. The key is to never stop enjoying the process, There is so much inside of us and these beautiful instruments help to bring things to the surface. All the best!
Hi, Simeon. Thanks for the demo. When you say "let's have some fun"/"we're going to have some fun", I believe it. Preface: not a fan of muddy ethereal pianos. However, .... That bit you play with the washed out piano at around the 28 minute mark..... WOW! Immediately the mind starts buzzing with possibilities. The player/instrument/playing ~ perfect marriage there. Well done. Kinda on the fence about this piano (does the search ever truly stop?). It's only 30 tho .. I'll likely have it before day's end. Very inspiring. Thank you
Hello Simeon, Thank you for this very helpful video. Playing the free Soft piano, I noticed a remarkable delay in sound generation (only in the higher octaves): you press a key, and the sound starts after too many ms to be acceptable. Does the Cinematic piano have a similar problem? And what about the annoying noises (fingers hitting the keys during sampling) udible in the free plug in? Have they been eliminated or reduced in the Cinematic plugin? Thank you!
Hi Simeon, wonderful video, thank you so much for putting this out. I have a question for you. As a person willing to start playing the piano. How would you go about this in this day and age? App, real tutor, online course, a combination, any recommendations? ;) Much appreciated! Have a nice day!
This isn’t going to work Simeon... it took you 23 nanoseconds to get a video up about this new library, just way too long to wait. 😂😂😂 Thank you Brother! Always appreciate the effort! Whacking our videos isn’t a 5-minute task by any stretch. ‘
Yes, they are surprisingly good for hearing things very tight. The low end is amazing for monitors of this size. I really would like to get the iLOUD MTM monitors as they are like the everyman’s Genelecs 😎 Thanks so much for watching!
Hi what kind of reverb effect do you have applied to the LABS piano at 8:56 ? None of my reverbs seem to have as long of a ‘ring’ after the played notes like that and I adore that sound so much And great video! It convinced me to pick it up soon 😁
Dunban , well this is just the LABS Soft Piano out of the box, no additional processing was applied. When doing my reviews I stay away from adding anything that will alter the sound of the plugin so you know exactly how it sounds on its own.
Hello Simeon, It might be a silly question because I know they are different products.. but in your opinion, would you go for Felt Piano or Cinematic Soft Piano as a first choice instrument for a part time guitar player and music producer? I'd like to add some layers of intimate piano comp lines on top of my acoustic guitar recordings. I just can't make up my mind. Love them both! (and probably I will end up buying both in the end..) Thanks for your recommendation 🙏
Also (for both piano and intimate strings) do I need any pedals to modulate the sound when I record live? Does that help with expression? Thank you v much
Ben, so just starting out I would probably recommend the Felt Piano first. The Cinematic piano is nice but the room is very much a part of what is going on and it is a rather larger sound. I would definitely check out the FREE LABS soft piano and as a matter of fact even more of the titles as there are some real jewels in there. Pedals? Yes! One of the greatest tools are those that help us with expression. The Spitfire libraries rely a lot on using an Expression pedal, for expression, and the Modulation wheel to help co trol the dynamic layers. Just think about how a guitar player uses the expression pedal and you are already ahead of the game. Your adventure is just beginning, and a very exciting one may I add, that will be filled with so much discovery. Keep me posted 🤓
@@PraiseTracks Simeon, that's much appreciated! I will certainly go for the Intimate Strings. That's an amazing sound library for the price you pay. And yes, I do have labs Soft Piano and probably it's good enough to start my project. Thanks again for your encouraging words and sound advice👍
Thanks for watching, Well, what you are hearing is the “room”. Air Studios is a very wet room with a long decay, so the ambience is baked into the sound. You can also here this when listening to some of the other Spitfire libraries recorded at Air. Hope that helps? All the best.
So Cinematic Soft Piano was recorded at AIR Studios Lyndhurst. That being said, AIR is known to have a lot of ambience as with some of the other Spitfire libraries which were recorded there as well. That characteristic ambience is “baked” into the samples. This does give the piano a very interesting character but personally I like to have the flexibility of being able to add. I think it might fit into some instances but each one’s mileage may vary. Thanks so much for watching.
Well maybe faster than you think as this is a replay edit of the livestream I did yesterday 😂😂😂😂 I think it is a very interesting library and one of the first of the Orig!nals I have tried.
Simeon Amburgey I noticed haha!! Well, the entire Originals range is interesting. Some of the brass has some tuning issues (at least last time I listened, been a while). But that Felt Piano, Simeon... it is obviously a matter of personal taste, but I have to say the Felt is in my top 5 list and I like this one... but try the Felt haha
I am so glad you showed the Westwood ALT Piano. I have more than a dozen piano plugins, and ALT is my favourite.

Hey, Simeon.
As always, very nice video.
I´m seeing a Iloud Micro Monitor behind you.
Do you think that its a good monitor for vst pianos ?

Simeon Amburgey
Oh ok gotcha. Fiddled with it a bit and turns out I just needed to use my sustain pedal to get that sound. Thank you very much!!

Hi. I can't get rid of the reverb. It's there even when I turn the reverb nob all the way down !

@@PraiseTracks It does, thanks.
Is there a way to turn off the reverb or sustained tone of this library?
