@Theregon1 Do you think the hubcaps just happen to pop off at the perfect moment, or would they have squibs of some sort to trigger them at the optimal time? Love your videos man!
Believe it or not, what makes hub caps pop off is that under hard cornering, the steel wheel flexes, and instead of remaining in a flat plane like a dinner plate, it bows enough that the spring tabs can’t keep the wheel cover on the wheel, because the wheel cover isn’t getting the same kind of force that the wheel is getting. Bottom line is that you don’t NEED a squib. Just take a corner really hard and they WILL fly off. If they don’t release easily enough, you can bend the tabs inwards so they’re not so tight. On my old 1971 Torino I had to keep bending them outwards. But I finally gave up.
I used to drive stiff as a board BMW's with low profile tires but it's slow anywhere else but a racetrack. Now I drive a Crown Victoria Coupe from the 80's and the body roll, soft suspension, long travel, and big tires mean you can litterally prerunner truck over everything. It's much better, and we need to go back.
That's my dream ride all right I bought an old del rey because that's what I always imagined old american cars would ride like. One day maybe I'll be able to buy a mint american boat like this. It navigates over bumps like a giant fishing boat over the waves 😂 And I love it!
@@imaouima I was a mechanic too, for a time at a ford dealer in metro detroit no less, and I don't really like any muscle cars besides 03/04 cobras and presumably the last GT350's that I never drove. Driving 60's + European and Asian exotics around California canyons thoroughly ruined my taste for muscle cars. I consider Vanishing Point my favorite chase movie and western in spite of the car, certainly not because of it. 😁 I've made the Denver to SF trip on 50 and would also suggest a period correct Challenger would be extremely poorly suited to the turning and braking demands of the 15 hour time frame even without being chased. 🤓
@@RexApplegate I remember the Charger we got here in Australia had a habit of doing 180s under heavy braking. Oh yes everyone figured out how to fix that but yeah, if we're talking stock, there were often some serious flaws with muscle cars I must admit. 😢
@@ashchaya7676 even when adjusted right and having a prop valve that balances things properly, I personally consider 4 wheel drum braking obsolete enough to be unfit for general use on public roads. The despair and anger of the vietnam war era and a lack of computer graphics definitely made some of the best movies in history. And wow technology is cool! Responding to a language and alphabet I can't read after seeing a translation with one click. 🙂
thegorgothon; from where is the scene between 1.20 and 1.30, on yer Wasp- Sex Drive video on Billy Hargrove???? definitely not from stranger things ....
In those days kids, the cars had no turbos , no nos, no computerizi=ed injecter fuel mixter, no air bags, no front or all wheel drive. Only HP , and lots of FUN....!!
Horsing that Gran Torino around like it doesn't weigh better than two tons. Just something about older cars, especially the last of the muscle cars. Probably never going to see two door cars that could decently and comfortably seat a family of five, again.

00:25 nothing like a highquality camera worth thousands being destroyed by a tiny rock! Still such a good shot!
The body roll is crazy on that Gran Torino.
How a car should move. 😍
It had the off-road suspension package lol

I think it’s safe to say that stunt driver had his foot to the floor throughout that entire scene.
I know, obstacles made him gas harder
Itsa Nose-Heavy PIG!🤘🤣📢
And he's barely moving, ah 70s muscle cars 😂.
Still a fan of WASP because of your vids
Same!
0:27 One very very expensive camera lens just paid with its life. Totally worth it.
for real
I remember going to see them play in Glasgow back in the 70’s !
Happy days ,,,
Mannn it’s crazy how Vanishing Point made me buy a white dodge challenger RT. It moved me that much. I appreciate all these car chase videos dude!
Man, poor Kowalski can never seem to catch a break from the cops....
Hell to the Yeah!! Nothing like a classic oldschool american car chase!! Keep 'em coming!!

The stuntmen driving these scenes certainly had fun.
One more fantastic clip. Congratulations my man. Your work is a piece of art

Hey Thergothon1 ✌️ Can you do Man On the Silver Mountain by Rainbow? 😎🤘
Man this looks like fun
Please please do a video with the song RADAR LOVE by Golden Earring. Greatest driving song ever! Please!
See see, if those cop cars all had Magnum 500 wheels like the Torino had, they would have not lost all those wheel covers.
