He's not an Arkle horse. This could be a red-hot Arkle with Ballyburn and maybe Sir Gino going. A Brown Advisory for the 4-year-old ? I'd consider maybe even swerving Cheltenham this season and going for Brown Advisory next. But out of all the horses Mullins has this horse was probably the one I was looking forward to seeing again the most
Yet another for the greatest nh trainer in history Willie Mullins, such strength in depth for the yard and this guy looked comfortable on debut. Impressive 6 wins from 8 starts, just one defeat in bumpers and one over hurdles. Probably or almost certainly Cheltenham bound
Mullins has won what he has because of his owners very deep pockets. Martin Pipe was better with owners only having shallow pockets. Mullins is the O'brien jumps trainer having 5 horses in a field of 12-15 which is a huge percentage chance of winning.
@ Yes I don’t disagree however Pipe and latter days Henderson was wasteful with horses. Few lasted more than 2 or 3 seasons, actually in a desperate bid to silence critics from a documentary that alleged rightly that he had very few horses older than 9. That alleged that few got beyond 9 years old and most were inmates for only a season or two, allegations he denied but strangely couldn’t name one horse, he encouraged an owner to buy Skippin’ Tim. He trained this veteran for a couple of seasons, racing it sparingly until he entered it in a selling chase. Bizarrely he attracted bids and Martin was forced to go higher and buy him back. He decided to keep him for himself and Tim duly rattled off another 4 wins if i recall correctly. Martin said he had done it as no one but himself would have understood the horse. Olympian was a rarity surviving 3 seasons under Martin and then continuing his career with another trainer. Few ex Pipe horses got brought for training on professionally, as the trainer i used at that time said, - don’t think of buying him, you can’t do a thing with them once Martin has had them. Sadly Henderson seems in modern times to be using similar ideology though his owners have very deep pockets.
Arkle winner without doubt I’ve got 10s couldn’t be happier he will be 4s or less come day depending on Ballyburn if ballyburn goes up in trip he will be shorter than 2s we also saw the bumper winner today future prospect massive performance did loads wrong and won impressively
An impressive start, particularly the way he picked up from the last. Hopefully, Mullins will realise that's the Arkle horse, not Ballyburn. Unfortunately, that's probably wishful thinking. First he mentioned the Champion Hurdle, then the Arkle. Both nonsense calls for a staying horse. Unless they want to up Ballyburn to three miles there is now no race for him at the Festival. If he wanted Mullins could confirm that now and save punters a few quid. Looking at this race it's hard to believe Mullins had put this horse in a 2m4f race on Monday.
It's sad they have done away with the turner's both ballyburn and this guy likely wud have went there. I hope he puts both to the 3m novice now as sir gino wins the arkle on the bridle
Im on majborough at 20/1 for the brown advisory. I think ballyburn and ile atlantique will run in the arkle. Willie has talked about majborough being a stayer and mark walsh even mentioned how he will stay in the interview.
Has definitely gotten quicker for a fence and traveled better too while hasnt beaten a proper grade 1 horse yet over fences i dont think anything else has either though. definitely throne his hat into the arkle picture
On this horse at 20/1. Each way. I fully expect Ballyburn to go up in distance. It’s entered in a 2m4 race over Xmas so it looks very much like it’s going out in distance. I don’t think Ballyburn has the same raw speed. More a one paced galloping type. The two look very high class so it doesn’t make much sense to put them against each other unless he has to. Dancing city is in the Cheltenham 2m4 race betting toward the top but it didn’t look so special on its return so maybe it will go out in distance and make way for Ballyburn.
Ballyburn and majbourgh look like his two best novice chases so Mullins isn’t going to run them in the same race .ballyburn will run in the two and a half mile race in limerick the 28th of December while majbrough is running in a two mile race in Naas on the 5th January on breeding majbrough is all speed as you seen in this race especially after the last were as Ballyburn is all stamina being by westerner majbrough is also 4 while Ballyburn is 6 years old so this will also come into play I think it’s a no brainer really but we will see in March it also matters which race Jo has him backed for but I’m guessing he took a lot of them 16/1 on majbrough before yesterday he’s now 5/1 and dropping while ballyburn is drifting in the arkle market
Majbough is my arkle bet at the start will smash ballyburn over 2 miles I am on at 12/1 and 8/1 for the arkle in march he be 2/1 favourite a proper machine and fact to file if you want a JP double both will win come march
