Hampi is an ancient village in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. Hampi was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th century. Hampi was a prosperous, wealthy and grand city near the Tungabhadra River, with numerous temples, farms and trading markets. Hampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in the eastern part of central Karnataka near the state border with Andhra Pradesh. Hampi is approx 600KMS away from Pune.
Hampi is recognised as one of the world Heritage by UNESCO.
The best time to visit Hampi if from Oct - Feb.
There are approx 80 monuments and 200 temples in Hampi. All these places can't be visited within a day. You will need at least 2 days to see important places in Hampi.
A mesmerising beauty with carvings on temples or monuments walls. Overall fantastic place to visit.
