      I counted 5 children in this scene and 1 on the way. They had 9 children before Albert died, so it will depend on how many times she's pregnant in this serie.

      Prince Albert died in 1861. Bertie would have been 20. He looks like he is 10-12 in the video. If they kill Prince Albert off this season it would have to be at the very end and they don’t usually progress that quickly in each season.

    Albert saved the UK from revolution. In the early 1850’s he held a worlds fair of new innovation encouraging trade and capitalism. In addition he worked as a proxy King in improving trade, the military, cultural giving and Government. This all exhausted him and he died young in 1861 at the age of only 42.

      There are two other theories on why he died. First they thought he got typhoid when he went to visit Bertie at University -- he was doing badly at University and was having illicit romantic affairs. Albert went up to the school to straighten him out, and came home with Typhoid. The other theory is that Albert had stomach cancer and that he was sick off and on for 2 years, but no one knew what he had, and they thought he was just having digestive issues.

    • @ozlass7778
      @ozlass7778 5 років тому +1

      Ira Williams
      "every teachers nightmare of a school boy".
      Please elaborate, how he was supposed to be a "nightmare"?
      Because, firstly, he never had teachers. He had tutors.
      So you aren't quite incorrect there.
      As for Victoria blaming him for Albert's death.
      Well, she only knew of one particular reason for the cause of Albert's death.
      Had they actually done an autopsy on Albert, they may have learnt otherwise. And Victoria's attitude towards Bertie may have been totally different.
      There's also the point, that Victoria may have also foolishly blamed Bertie for Albert's death, projecting her own guilt onto her son.
      After all, earlier in the year that Albert died, Victoria's mother and Albert's aunt, had both died. And Victoria was apparently so grief stricken, that Albert took over most of the Queens duties.
      Despite the fact that Albert was suffering himself with a long term stomach problem.
      The very problem that could have been exacerbated by too much stress and caused his demise.
      Or maybe Victoria didn't want to accept that Albert, himself, could actually be to blame for his own death.
      For choosing to travel when he was already suffering with a stomach problem. And taking a risk of catching something else to make his illness worse, or even terminal.
      We honestly don't know for sure, just what exactly was going on behind their closed doors.
      But to simply call him "obnoxious" or "every teachers nightmare", without a thorough explanation to back up the accusations, is rather ridiculous.
      Considering he was actually known to be charismatic and popular. And not just in Britain.
      As well as creating a harmonious relationship between Britain and Europe. Where he ended up being labelled a peacemaker.
      Even an historian wrote of him, giving him nothing but praise. Saying, he had a great natural ability to be both dignified and charming. And had exceptional tact at handling people.
      Sure, he had a bit of a reputation as a playboy prince (as many princes do, Eg. Charles and Harry). And yes, Bertie had a bit of difficulty learning, as he wasn't as intelligent as his older sister.
      But all that, does not warrant calling him obnoxious. Or a teachers nightmare, for goodness sakes.

      You have very very poor spelling and grammar, but I agree.
      It's an *ITV* show funded, produced, first broadcast and owned by *ITV.*
      Like every other British TV show it should be shown on *ITV* before it gets shown in any other country.
      If it was up to me I'd make the USA wait for a year at least like they do with us.
      We usually have to wait at least 3 months minimum for American shows, and can be waiting as long as 7 years sometimes like we had to do for *Breaking Bad* to be released in full.
      Yet British shows are usually shown on US streaming services or TV in 3 months or less, after their original UK broadcast.
      Watch out for the *City of Bradford* in the 3rd series of *Victoria* (which judging from this scene I think I know what it will be doubling as although there's no mention of the location I'm thinking of yet), and the *Downton Abbey* film.
      *Downton Abbey* filmed in *Little Germany, Bradford,* and *Victoria* filmed in *Bradford City Hall* and *Sunbridge Wells, Bradford.* As the scene above mentions *Belgium* I suspect *Victoria* also secretly filmed in *Little Germany* too as it has doubled for *Belgium* a few times before.
      Those locations and other nearby city centre locations in the same half a mile radius have also featured in films and TV shows from the last 10 years like:
      *Official Secrets* (2019), *Gentleman Jack* (2019), *Ilkley* (2019), *Emmerdale, The ABC Murders, Ackley Bridge, Gold, Gunpowder, Girlfriends, Peaky Blinders, Victoria, The Moorside, King Charles III, Funny Cow, Fresia, Lies We Tell, National Treasure, DCI Banks, The Windsors, Hank Zipzer's Christmas Catastrophe, 1920: London, Residue, Utopia, Happy Valley, The Great Train Robbery, The Syndicate, Room at the Top (2010), Coronation Street, The Red Riding Trilogy, Bollywood Carmen, The Selfish Giant, Welcome to Karachi, Get Santa, The Damned United, Testament of Youth* plus many many more factual shows like documentaries, talk shows, talent shows, cooking shows, entertainment shows etc.

    I hate how this show portrays Victoria as stupid and naive whilst Albert is this great innovator with progressive ideas. Victoria rules just fine after Albert dies it would be nice if they portrayed her with more brains then the “thank god there is the English channel”. What a ridiculous line.

    • @ozlass7778
      @ozlass7778 5 років тому +10

      TVOCD
      I think that might just be your own perception of the series.
      I have found many moments where I felt that Victoria was portrayed as strong and intelligent.
      For example.. when she was so enthusiastic to get back to work, so soon after the birth of her first child, Victoria. And showing how happy Queen Victoria felt to be back at her desk.
      That made me think, that Victoria obviously loved dealing with her duties and taking care of business. Which she was more than capable of doing.
      Or the time where she got angry with Albert, for keeping certain information from her about the army.
      To me, that showed that Victoria was not going to let anyone treat her like a mushroom. Not even her husband.
      And also times, it showed how she was willing to learn about the things she was uneducated in.
      She may not have initially shared Alberts intelligence, when it came to technological innovations, science, mathematics and so on. But she wasn't afraid to learn.
      Like the time she decided to go for a ride on the train alone. And she wanted to learn about how it worked.
      Not to mention, it has shown her as possessing progressive ideas and values of her own.
      Such as her political opinion to abolish slavery.
      And showing more compassion towards those who were starving and dying during the potato famine.
      When she could have quite easily just turned a blind eye to both situations.
      I could go on.
      However, if by saying that they are portraying Victoria as being stupid and naive. That's probably because it was exactly how she was being treated by others, in reality.
      The same thing has happen whenever a female was on the throne.
      There have always been males around female head monarchs, who tried to control the female head monarchs to some degree.
      Husbands, politicians, men of the privy council etc. Who always thought that they knew better than the Queens.
      No doubt, even Elizabeth II has been through such similar male attitudes around her over her time as Queen.
      But, as this series has also shown, Victoria would not just take a back seat. She wouldn't play second fiddle to anyone, when it came to carrying out her duties, in her own way.
      I knew very little about the actual Queen Victoria, prior to watching this series so far.
      And I have to say, that right from the beginning, Victoria struck me as being a very strong, intelligent and independent person.
      She may have been a petite woman. And she may have lived a sheltered childhood. But boy, she certainly made her presence felt, once she grew up and became Queen.

    • @TVOCD
      @TVOCD 5 років тому +1

      Ozlass 777 well put. She has had some scenes where she has shown to be wise and compassionate to the downtrodden. I completely agree with your assessment on how the other characters primarily males but females too, treat her as a child that needs them to make decisions. Alfred more than anyone at times - I don’t like how the politicians walk to alfred first to tell him the news to pass on rather then just walk the extra few steps. It makes it seem that Alfred is used to simplify the message to her or that he is more important. Can you imagine a white house staff member telling Melania a message as Trump was right next to her? No.

    • @ozlass7778
      @ozlass7778 5 років тому +1

      TVOCD
      Oh I totally agree.
      It makes me a little angry whenever politicians would go to Albert first.
      Purely because he was a man, I think. Because many men (not all, thankfully) even in today's world, just cannot handle dealing with a female.
      Whether she is their boss or a queen or whatever, they just can't seem to be able to rise above their testosterone egos and simply respect a female having some level of seniority over them. Like it's beneath them, or something.
      Which is rather sad.

    • @TVOCD
      @TVOCD 5 років тому

      @@ozlass7778 After rewatching the film lately I must say I prefer her portrayal in the movie. They clearly show that she is inexperienced - thank you Mr Conroy and her mother. However it shows that she is intelligent and very willing to learn. She disagreed with Melbourne, someone she saw as a mentor and went against his wishes to help the poor, working and middle classes. They don't show her as a child like the show does, though there are moments of immaturity. She takes inspiration and knowledge from various people and makes her own mind up. Unlike in the show where it either came from Melbourne or Albert. Albert struggles to find his place in the house, but he isn't overbearing by telling her what to do. There was one scene in particular where Albert shares his idea to improve housing for the working class. He wasn't telling her what to do, he was simply just sharing his ideas and she took it in and wanted to do it. The one time he does do it, they have a huge fight.

      Well, after looking around the internet on and off in recent weeks. Looking up different stories and claims about Victoria, Albert and their children.
      I've found that there are many different views on the family.
      And I think the differences tend to come back to the person who has posted the stories/claims. Basically giving their own individual perspective on the facts, depending on how they, personally, wish to view history.
      This particular tv series has certainly painted Victoria and Albert, so far, in a fairly perfect manner.
      I've been very surprised to learn about some rather astonishing claims about what Victoria and Albert were apparently like. Particularly behind closed doors.
      And so now, I've since decided to take much of this tv series with a grain of salt. Which is rather sad.
      Considering it's barely been completely open and honest, about the REAL Victoria and Albert.
      And especially, since I've also learnt that there are quite a few faults in the storytelling within this series. Such as inaccuracies in the timeline when certain events actually occured, as opposed to how the series has played them out, falsely, mainly for dramatic effect.
      It's truly a shame, that this series has not been entirely accurate.
      It now seems to just feel more like a period drama. Where historical figures are foolishly used purely to entice more viewers to watch.
      Even though people are being mislead about history.

      Not entirely, unfortunately.
      There are a few flaws in the timeline of events that have occured so far in this series, and what actually occured in reality at the time.
      It's a shame that it has played out this way, though. Because most people (like myself) would be partly watching it as a history lesson.
      Otherwise, it may as well be just any old period drama. And should not be using genuine historical figures for its storyline.

      He shouldn't be if they follow the actual time of events. Season 3 is set in 1848 which is the year Lord Melbourne dies. Season 2 was set prior to 1848.

      No, he didn't. The beings who died (all in season 2) were Dash the dog, Albert & Ernst's father (Ernst I, duke of Saxe-Coburg), and Edward Drummond, the closeted taller gay man, sidekick to PM Robt. Peel.
