Hey everyone. There are two errors in the video: armor penetration should be 600mm / 800mm (instead of 60mm / 80mm). Also, the KMGU IS simulated and will be useable in the Mi-24P! I'm glad so many of you liked the video! Thank you for your thumbs up and your comments!
Great tutorial, specially as the DCS module isnt released yet .. all very clearly explained. Many systems are similar to the Mi-8. Thanks a lot and glad to be subscribed.
Very nice Guide, you put much effort in....there one small Error 9k114 Shturm Penetration of 60mm of Armor @12:27 aswell with the Ataka Missile. 60mm-80mm would barley enough to Penetrate a Sherman Tank. 600mm and 800mm RHA
I really enjoy your videos! I've watched them a bunch while waiting for the Mi-24P! I hope you're going to make more when that beast comes out! Stay safe!
@@virtualflighttraining9694 Oh... also the KMGU-2 exists for the Su-25 in the sim (albeit without most of the payloads or settings)... in case you ever do an updated video (e.g. one combining parts one and 2)!
I'm reasonably certain that the paper moving map shown at 4:25 is just made by Decca and driven by a doppler radar system - the moving maps that used the Decca Navigator system (with the red/green/purple pairs of stations, no radar in the aircraft, just a passive radio receiver) used a very different and interestingly distorted projection.
Again awesome job man, very well explained. Question, do you plan on doing flight/system/weapon training videos after EA release? Also, that attitude indicator, were those extra features not present in a real life Mi-24P or is that a limitation we face in DCS alone? If the former, I would have to say that is the most "Russian" thing I've ever heard of.
The attitude indicator is simulated the way it works in real life. There is no flight guidance system that could send signals to the flight director. And there is no ILS equipment on board either. The only thing I am not 100% sure about is the radio altimeter and drift indicator. I think those actually work in some serial numbers.
Thanks for the video, great information. Really looking forward to fly this beast. Do you plan to release guide or other useful video when the module comes out ?
Hey Viktor, i need your advise. i´m currently relearning and enjoying the mi24. unfortunatly my cross on my map does not move. it never moves, no matter what i try. i do the alignment by pressing the sync button, holding it for few seconds, 3 minutes after powering on the system and it is also set to MAG. It worked back days when the mi24 was ea-released, but now it wont work anymore. what else can be the issue with the non moving cross on the map? cant find anything in forums or by search. maybe you can help me out. do more videos!!
I find the bombs in the KA-50 to be useful when I want to destroy some targets, and then the building they were defending. P.S. I am pretty sure a developer said in an interview that they are holding off the R-60s until the IR/ FLIR update that will make you able to lock onto ground targets in a realistic manner.
Yep, because the that's what Soviet pilots did in the afghan war. The R-60's warhead that was meant for proximity kills against aircraft is really effective on light ground vehicles and personel, they were also self guided and has a much shorter minimum range than other guided missiles the Mi-24 carries.
Great video and very informative, thank you. Looking forward to learning all the older systems myself and the real challenge for me will be implementing real world tactics and converting that into DCS. I have spent the last month making a cold war mission that has flight training and weapon training in it, also some live targets to practice on (all cold war era based, no point taking on some of the more advanced things like sam sites and the such...was not it's job anyway). I can see this helo been used on the cold war servers, but not on the others since let's be honest it was not meant for that time anyway (well not the older model we get). Going to take some time to learn how to fly it, and many hours looking over the manual i can not wait. Got a sub from me, great video.
Why learn to drop bombs on a TV screen, when you can get close and personal. This thing will be a shotgun in DCS and I love shotguns... Anyway, fantastic vid. Gave a like and subbed. Waiting for more material.
i have the k50 but i have not found a really good and deep walktrough or tutorial on it, think you can make one? just like you made this one and part 1? thank you :-) btw fantastic work :-) just earned a new subscriber :D
Hi Dennis! Thank you! My videos are mostly based on real world manuals and procedures. It is impossible to get those for the Ka-50. Also, I find the Ka-50 less interesting, as it is mostly a prototype, that never went into mass production. Sorry, if I can't help you with this one!
Do you know if the IR jammer is going to be simulated? the mounting is there in the 3D model of the DCS Mi-24P, though currently unoccupied. Also has ED commented on the quad mounts for ATGMs?
They don't model IR jammer as based to developers, it has been taken out of service lately because it was good only for a blowpipe or strela-2 missiles, and not effective to anything more modern. (Yet it took from them like 40 years to start removing it.... Wonder.)
I remember reading the translated interview with a dev, and he said the Hind will carry up to 8 missiles Since we saw 4 double launchers in the pre order vid, i think it's safe to assume we won't be getting quad launchers Not even sure if they existed
@@kacper8562 there is an old black and white photo of a Hind with two quad launchers below the wings and two double launchers at the wingtips, for a total of 12 missiles if fully populated, the caption says its an Mi-24V but the nose looks like a P, no gun turret visible
Hey. Thank you for pointing that out. In an interview the lead designer mentioned it was not implemented - but that was probably a misunderstanding. I did not double check.
Looks great. However i'm a bit concerned about the AI of the ground vehicles firing at you. With the Hind old school tactics, where you have to go very near to the enemy for a successfull hit, there has to be more human like behavior on the AI aswell. Otherwise it can be very frustrating for the Hind pilots. I can imagine that the SAM's and other ground defence units had also quite primitive technology for hunting down the choppers. So i hope the AI of the ground units won't act too perfect especialy in close quarters battle.
I like it. All can be fixed with S-24. I already have this module and I think it would be very interesting to have night vision and NS430 integrated to use it only in current missions (since 2000).
There is in fact a laser rangerfinder on the Hind. The Shturm sight has a laser rangefinder to enable the missile to to first fly above the sights LOS only to start a shallow dive once it gets close to the target. It's not a top attack system, merely a design to allow it clear obstacles better since the sight system was originally designed to be used from ground vehicles.
The sight doesn't itself. Apparently some Vs and Ps had one installed in place of the 4th window on the right side, and a different variant the PN has one that is very prominent on the center of the nose

Hi Michal. I have explained it in the comments of part one already. In the Russian speaking part of the world, Soviet aircraft are called "An", "Il", "Ka" "Mi", "Su", "Tu" and "Yak", because the heads of their design bureaus were Antonov, Ilyushin, Mil, Kamov, Sukhoi, Tupolev and Yakovlev. They are simply short versions of their names. And it makes no sense to say "M-I", because it's not an abbreviation for two words that start with "M" and "I". Just because a lot of people say it in the wrong way it does not mean that it's correct.
