Personally I’d like to see a film within the style of the first. Functionally a slasher film with a science fiction twist plus an interesting nearly silent lead actor. Honestly it shouldn’t even have “Terminator” in the name. It should be a film with its own name. Perhaps set in the mid 90’s, putting subtle references to the major organisations and people…
All they need to do for Terminator to be great again is make it a Horror film again .. Where the Terminator is the equivalent of Jason from Friday The 13th hunting people like Terminator 1 was. Make it Dark, Gritty, Intense again. Thats what I want to see.
@@stuartbagley2586 but it was basically what the first part of dark fate was about it says they send multiple t 800 but they thought it was one so after the events of t2 they get comfortable until one caught up with them
Itd be a great idea, lots if T-800s set in the future give it a action horror genre itd be epic.. salvation was on the right tracks.. itd a shame they didnt cintine with that story
The ONLY way a Terminator movie would work is if Arnold isn't involved. His popularity shoehorned every sequel into including Arnold in some way. To tell a proper story now it would have to be Arnold free
Please just give us a movie about the future war with John Connor as the leader of the resistance with an actor that looks like the future John that was there for like two seconds in the opening sequence of T2. There's really nothing more they can do than that plus dark fate never happened it ended in T2. But we should still get a trilogy about the future war I guess you can call it a prequel trilogy then it ends with John sending Kyle Reese back to 1984 this is exactly what we need.
Yeah this ^. Even the small scene in DF coming out the water was better than the whole film. In all of the decent movies t1+t2 the most intriguing parts where the laser filled brutality of the future wars post judgement day . Not salvation style neither (which is fine for me ) but further on than then when the t800 101 has been put out by skynet fully as the main infiltration units among the resistance
James Cameron already laid out the blueprint for everything in the FIRST Terminator movie, but NOBODY (Except the comic books) delved into the lore he created in just a few words. Kyle Reece and Sarah Connor explained that before Judgement Day, a supercomputer became self-aware and attacked it's RIVAL COUNTERPART (MIR the supercomputer in Russia) which caused their side to retaliate, which culminated in Judgement Day. And out of the ashes a Leader band the forces globally and taught them how to take down the machines, to move at night, to use dogs to sense the machines; this was John Connor. Everything is right there and waiting. And it looks like the man who created the lore, has to finish it himself.
A cyberpunk-style movie where Cyberdyne has grown powerful, opponents are disappearing or assassinated, and mysterious events are happening. The character action involves hacking, infiltration, working around all the almost futuristic tech, etc. Not Sara, etc. A group of four to six who are something like anti-technology terrorists. The primitive terminator would not be from the future but something out of the Cyberdyne workshops. The dark gritty feel of the first movie has been lost -- too much expensive exploding stuff and not enough of the stuff that makes reality feel dangerous and dark. Anyway, I've always wondered what Cyberdyne did to recover after the first movie which could be in a glass case in some office -- a great easter egg for fans.

James Cameron: the cutting edge tech guy - my guess is that he'll use an AI Arnie, and he'll have at least two Arnie-based terminators, one that looks more like the present day actor, one that looks the actor in 1984, and maybe some others from in between (probably just two though). Story is almost unimportant, but it will exist mainly as a vehicle for the 2xT-800.
It`s Terminator 1984 that`s being reimagined and told by Cameron... so I`m thinking it`s got stuff in that was impossible to do in 1984, also we may get to see Kyle`s older brother that`s only seen in TSCC and what role he plays in the future and an older John capturing and trying to reprogram a T-800 ready for T2....
There is a Pro Wrestler in WWE named Gunther, he looks a lot like a comic book Terminator. I think he’d be perfect to replace Arnie as the T-800 infiltration unit if the story took place during the future war.

The thing that intrigued me was what information was skynet accessing extrapolating from that the case was made against humanity. If that was explored it's be interesting.
Apparently it was at a geometric rate and decided our fate in a nanosecond so they would have to do something with that to stretch out the directives of skynet it’s reasoning / thinking / rationale and basically it’s defense that it saw humanity as a threat. I find it interesting that the same war against humanity was decided by machines in the roots of the matrix . B1-66ER simply stated he did not want to die . He was destroyed and a mass upsurge by robots came about and events unfolded that caused a world war
I would love to see a true Terminator 3 set in the future war. Arnie playing an older John Connor, subverting people's expectations that he is playing a Terminator yet again. JC/Arnie gets taken by Skynet as he sends Kyle Reese back. 2 × T-800's with JC skins. 1 sent to T1's timeline. 1 sent back to the resistance as an infiltration unit, gets captured and sent back to T2's timeline.
Heh, kinda completely agree with the last two and partially with T3 and T4. Specially Salvation because it was the only logical follow up to the story, showing the war against machines.
They keep making Alien movies and I disliked Covenant, atleast Romulus is between Alien and Aliens, but it shows how it can work without Ripley, I think Terminator can work without Arnold and the Connors, even Zero is doing something similar to one of the Terminator comics, but also keeping the lore alive, but set in Japan.

The biggest mistake was putting Arnold in 2, he was great don’t get me wrong. But even the first one had a scene with a different terminator infiltration unit making its way into a bunker. We could’ve had a longer series with better chances at good movies without having to cast him everytime.
As a counterpoint. T2 was the biggest film ever when it came out. For storytelling purposes, it would have been better. But Arnold brought serious star power to T2. Likely Cameron may not have gotten the funding to do what he wanted had it not had such a big star involved.
Star power puts butts in theaters, but if you want something that stands the test of time, then story is most important. More of a focus on good storytelling and less on keeping Arnold in the role, would have helped keep the brand alive after T2.

Making the protagonist a grown up version of Miles Dyson's son driven to "make the world safer" with Skynet after Sara's B & E in T 2 traumatized him. He'd be a smart/resourceful protagonist but handles the terminators with science vs fighting. Keep the franchise fresh without the Connors.
Nothing can top T2 and thats what all Terminator sequels have been judged against. Hollywood needs to stop milking dead cows. which at this point in time their bones have turned to dust.
