Just wanted to say how much I love your channel! UA-cam ushered me over here after watching lots of Damien Echol's channel, and I love your reviews and Esoteric Saturdays. Thanks for the great content!
I'm glad you reviewed this. I looked into it. The prices are quite reasonable, and I like that they can be ordered individually. It's all print by demand, which is keeping the cost low. I can see why you love this collection so much. Thank you again for a great presentation.
These are such lovely editions. I've been buying Print on demand versions from Lulu, and they are pretty grainy with the images and rather small. But on the plus side they are easy to carry around and mark up with pencils. The other plus is that it is 9$ USD a book.
The universe was extremely kind to me last night, as a result I have just purchased volume 1, so I will have a proper hardback version of it, I can't wait to hold it 💜💜💜💜💜
Absolutely beautiful! Personally, I think I may stick with my copies of “Gems from the Equinox”, and “Magick (Book 4)”. They are absolutely massive bodies of work, and to say it is intimidating is a complete understatement. I would love for you to review them both.
As an evangelical Thelemite, I find certain volumes of the Equinox to be more of use to me than others. I don't find the Equinox Corpus (or even just Crowley Corpus in general) that daunting or intimidating from the inside but I know from the outside it is incredibly difficult to navigate, so I get your struggle there lol
Amazing as always, i had a paper copy given to me mqny, mqny years ago, then i had digital versions of every liber he has ever done, but i would love to own these 💜💜💜💜💜
These are so awesome. He also did a Keep Silence edition of The Book Of Lies, in two sizes- great stuff. The highlights for me in the Equinox is the original comment on Liber AL (I caught a missing page and alerted SW so I am pretty proud of myself), his thoughts on the GD Initiations in #2 and The Temple of Solomon The King serial in general. I had received an interesting volume V cover that had IV stuffed in it. It has 2 different Amazon stickers on it, so I believe it had been returned and repeatedly sent out by Amazon, so I kept it, and now my Equinox goes to11!
Thank you for the presentation of these new additions, I must say though that I am most envious. The reason being that I started collecting and studying these works over twenty five years ago, and I had to buy them as they become available for sale from different publishing houses and different formats ( usually soft back Weiser ) and not in chronological order with gaps missing to make them complete. So it added to the complexity of reading and making sense of them. These editions look to be much nicer overall and user friendly. To bad, as I have already acquired my collection as I would have much more preferred these.
I would like to recommend the edition with the photographic covers. They have copious footnotes explaining technical terms, obsolete words, 100-year-old Pop Culture references, etc. They also provide translations of all the Latin, Greek, Hebrew, French, Pali, Sanskrit, etc. The first one, titled "The Equinox I(1)" is available on Amazon UK for £21.84.
I'm not a thelemite or a huge AC fan beyond his contributions to Hermetism over all; but these are just gorgeous, I got two editions and was hooked, very relaxing reading as well -- also I love the spine design. Looking forward to more from Keep Silence.
Intriguing!! Would you ever do a more detailed video on some of the contents/rituals for folks like me who can't afford and probably wouldn't even comprehend such tomes?
Have you read Magick Without Tears and Liber Aleph: The Book of Wisdom or Folly - wonderful books. These editions look of the Equinox look amazing I see there are now paperback editions too which is nice to have as a choice.
Great review Denis ... by chance in this period I'm reading "Moonchild". These editions look superb! You're doing a great job, and congratulations for the ever growing number in subscriptions!
I've gone through a couple of chapters ... it starts with the usual flamboyant and sometimes silly tone of the typical novels of the early 20th century, but it manages to drag you in slowly and relentlessly ... at least so far. I thought I wanted to give it a go, as it is the first work by Crowley I'm actually reading, because it is regarded as an "excuse" he used to put down in a narrative the core of his own philosophy. I'll be actually trying to see what lies beyond the actual story. Also, there is a very entertaining doc on Crowley's life here on UA-cam it's called something like "The wickedest man in the world" (from the quality of images it may have been done in the 90's) and it paints Crowley as a very sinister man. Clearly many of the events he got involved in are pure gimmick, but nonetheless other episodes are pretty "strong". It's hard to separate the man from the legend ... a very interesting and controversial man...
Beautiful set. I had the impression that you weren’t that into Crowley, but I suppose he has a place in every esoteric library. I have the Perdurabo biography and I picked up his lectures on yoga from the Philosophical Research Society.
Same, I thought he was just a chaos magic guy. It's a shame this is the only the only Thelemic or Thelema-adjacent video he's done (besides The Red Goddess).
I own an individual edition of Crowleys The Equinox, v.1 no.8, A Description of the Cards of the Tarot a fifth printing from 1985, the original was from 1912.
The Book of the Law in it’s entirety is in the back of Liber ABA, assuming you have the “blue brick” version. Do you have a copy of 777? I don’t have that one and would love to know what you think of it; I believe it’s material is supplemental/different than what’s in the others but I’m not sure... Anyway, thank you for another great review, sir!
Fantastic, essential reading for Thelema and Crowley. Some of my favorite material from Crowley is in this set, or maybe even most. My favorite volumes include vol 1 no 5 and the famed blue equinox. Sometimes I forget just how much material he published in this series actually.
I'd say one or the other 😋 if you ever intend to get the full set, then start now, and if not, then stick with the gems. I hear it's difficult to get a decent edition these days though.
Hey love your channel! Just wanted to say that you peaked my already present interest in the esoteric and got me deeper into it. I even bought some books you reviewed including the Golden Dawn. I find myself looking alot into handsigns ( mudras ), chants ( mantras ), breathing techniques and meditative visualisation. Because of this Ive been jumping into western Magick, Buddism, Yoga, Kuji and Taoism, Qigong the list goes on as alot of these philosofies overlap in a way. My question is can you recommend a book on magick that focuses specifically on visualisation, handsigns and chants? Much appreciated
I just received number 1 of these, I had no idea these editions existed until I stumbled upon your video, thank you! They all seem to be going for 25 to 28 pounds in the links, is there a source I can acquire the rest for 22 each? Many thanks.
To be fair it's only a few pounds more, I notice my mental habit of assuming I must 'scrimp and save' in contrast to paying a bit more for what may very well be priceless knowledge! Keep up the good work Foolish Fish. :)
AsI tread through my journey learning Ritual Magic I have abstained from practice as I want to collect enough information, and the right kind of solid information that will be a strong foundation and safety net before moving forward. I have read a good deal about Mr Crowley but I am always left with the question was he a genius or a madman? He basically upended magical practice and put his own spin on it but does that make it inauthentic not producing results, or does it rearrange difficult older teachings making them more modern and easier to achieve results. Since he was such a prominent and eccentric character, is his version of things capricious or serious? Do you have an opinion on his work and does his work - work?

@@FoolishFishBooks So I'm assuming the problem isn't just with the Equinox on their site? Their products do seem very intriguing, but obviously won't spend any money there if that is how they operate...
Yeah I was lucky it was only The Magus for me, but I know of people who lost 1000s of $$. Miskatonic Books are selling off their stock from them and refusing to do further business with them because of this which I absolutely love them for!!
Which company is the Disreputable company? I ordered a book 4 months ago from a company that sales Crowley books almost exclusively and they haven't responded to my emails or sent any shipping info. I am curious to know if it is the same company.
It rhymes with Fell Hire Blub Cooks 🙁 I'm so sorry you got burned 🙇 someone in the comments here mentioned getting Visa to get their money back from them.
The dark side of crowley with all the people who knew him going mad, the beastiality and the demonic element, put me off crowley but who knows maybe i limit myself. It is notable however that every single person bar none of his little coven in scotland ended up dead, insane and it was horrible tragedy after the other with all who entered there. I wouldnt want to invite that level if darkness into my consciousness though esoteric ancient knowledge of magick is fascinating. Note his altered states of consciousness with opiates led to his own ruin also, though i would be interested to see where his voyages took him and see inside his own reflections. He was a man without remorse and very very cruel, he delved into how disgusting he could tolerate but what happened to his wife was outright abuse sexually, mentally and emotionally, involving beasts of the fields. Horrific like the mind of a serial killer on a soul level. Im impressed with your books though id be almost frightened to have such powerful material, take one step towards the universe and it takes ten towards you, look into the eyes of evil and it looks right back into you at the same time. Would you happen to know if gems from the equinox includes tarot divination? Specifically the one from the equinox vol 1 number 8 called description of the cards of the tarot
@@icekng456 There is a slim volume from Weiser in 1998 that is called simply Tarot Divination that is a reprint of the Equinox 1 Tarot chapter, and similar if not the same info (and more) is in The Book Of Thoth (Equinox 3, Number 5).
@@icekng456 I’d imagine it’s reprinted in the set being reviewed here, otherwise I wouldn’t know. What I do know is I found my copy in a bookstore in Brooklyn, not even half a decade ago, and it was under ten dollars, so you have a real chance of finding one somewhere. Perhaps online.
If I was going to defraud book-buyers, I think I would think twice about targeting occultists! The people in company probably all came to a sticky end lol
IMHO, Gems form The Equinox (ed. by Israel Regardie) is a very inferior anthology. I compiled my own anthology which runs to about 900 pages and includes all the best stuff, but have never had time to publish it.
@@Hokyoplasmicwaffle months ago I bought a copy of 'The Drug and other stories' on wordsworth press. It includes a forward from singer/songwriter David Tibet. Highly recommend this book aswell if you've not already got it.

I believe to be a pretty decent judge of character, and have found your work on this channel, the language you use and wording as well as your demeanor to be very genuine(and all very similar to mine, even though we speak very different languages and have very different backgrounds and culture) and led me to research a lot more about this topic (Occult, Rituals, Types of magick, etc), I have the Book of the Law and partially read it, as well as read about Aleister Crowley since I was younger, heard of him in songs, comics, movies, etc. but always feel at the end that he was a charlatan and an overall disingenuous guy, I don't like how he looks, I don't like how he writes, so I am not sure if I am missing something haha, his writing doesn't seem smart and he looks like a slob xD. Sorry if I am shitting on an important figure, maybe I just don't get it but was wondering whats the overall view people in these circles have of him. As always thanks if you have the time to answer.
I don't think being into AC is a pre-requisite for getting into magick. TBH, my intermediary was Lon Milo Duquette, whom I do actually love. I recognise that he AC has done an enormous amount for the world of Magick, and that we probably wouldn't be having this conversation here, out in the open if it weren't for him, and certainly not with the plethora of occult knowledge that we enjoy as a consequenceof his trailblazing. But to actually _like_ the guy? no, I don't think anyone should be expected to have to do that :D
@@FoolishFishBooks haha nice, and I do like Lon Milo, I am looking at some of his books, and once I finish Prometheus Rising I will continue with Low Magic and Allow me to introduce..I am mostly an audio/visual person and was not able to find much video from Milo other than his music xD but I think there are a couple of podcasts and lectures I will definitely check.
ua-cam.com/video/JbLf-DaJkU4/v-deo.html here at about the 50 minute mark, Milo gives a good explanation on why I am detecting or feeling the way I feel about Crowley, and it makes sense xD

For those who haven't heard this a million times, 'child sacrifice' is Victorian code for 'masturbation', at a time and place when mentionning the former would shock but was fine, whereas mentionning the latter publically would land you in prison, go figure... 🤷🏻♂️
Too bad he was a creep who promoted certain things that harmed kids for their innate energy. I love the mystical, and natural law.. Why is it ok in your "book" to take the life of an innocent person for selfish reasons..? Curious.
Child sacrifice is code for masturbation. In Victorian England he would have landed in jail for mentioning masturbation in public. Mentioning child sacrifice, though... not a problem. Crowley thought he was cleverly exposing this ridiculous situation. Instead, people just started thinking he was actually sacrificing children 🤷🏻♂️
@@FoolishFishBooks Hello, im just trying to understand certain things and find the truth about Aleister. I dont want to be an asshole or something like that, just want your point of view on this. Please can you explain to me how the following Crowley quote can be justified? "For the highest spiritual working one must accordingly choose that victim which contains the greatest and purest force. A male child of perfect innocence and high intelligence is the most satisfactory and suitable victim" -Aleister Crowley, Magick, The Bloody Sacrifice Thanks for your time, I like your content, very interesting knowledge.
@@chukinbahe also mentions sacrificing about 150 a year.. clearly that's not true. It is metaphor the focused charging of sexual energy before ejaculating the male seed, the seed is pure and innocent because it's just been born. It's pretty basic sex magic

Would you happen to know if gems from the equinox includes tarot divination? Specifically the one from the equinox vol 1 number 8 called description of the cards of the tarot
Gems does not.
I just posted that I own a 5th printing edition of v.1 no.8, Tarot Divination.
ROAD LOVE do you know if that part is reprinted in any other book?
I Am Bernard Barron Save These vols. for me PLEASE???!!?
Where to start with Crowley?
'.... Being the Oracular Compendium of Underland....'
Mr. Crowley gets my lunch now
What's for lunch today? I'll get it right to ya, just shitting my brains out currently
They look very old but still in mint condition lol but when their on the shelf they look very old I love the Tree of Life illustration
You hip to Crowley, huh! My favorite Crowley read is 'The Book of Law'. Shout out to Bobby Hemmitt who put me on to it.
Bobby's influence has gone far and wide indeed.
The only person I ever seen publicly teaching the links between
Kemet, RasTafari and Thelema.
@@thenowchurch6419 Absolutely.
Which volume talks about the Vision and the voice
Not originally in the Equinox, but then published in Exinox Vol. IV No. 2 (so not in this series which is only Vol. 1)
where can i purchase this book set?

If I was going to defraud book-buyers, I think I would think twice about targeting occultists! The people in company probably all came to a sticky end lol
What publishers would take your money and not provide a book? Hopefully no one else has too go through that. Thank you
He'll Fire Club Books.
IMHO, Gems form The Equinox (ed. by Israel Regardie) is a very inferior anthology. I compiled my own anthology which runs to about 900 pages and includes all the best stuff, but have never had time to publish it.
Has anybody here ever read diamonds from the equinox? I'm interested in finding out if it has everything from "gems" plus more, as advertised
Do a Hank the cowdog book collection
Are you reffering to Kessinger publishing by any chance lol?

wow how much did this cost 10k? ok got it thats a great price

I have.
The Book of Lies is so so so good. My personal favorite.
Probably my favourite of Crowley's aswell, it's alot of fun and bonkers. Perfect to just pick up every now and then.
@@SmOrBlACK it’s as simple as poetry and as deep as anything any of the classic philosophers ever wrote about. Period.
@@Hokyoplasmicwaffle months ago I bought a copy of 'The Drug and other stories' on wordsworth press. It includes a forward from singer/songwriter David Tibet. Highly recommend this book aswell if you've not already got it.
@@SmOrBlACK I’ve read diary of a drug fiend, but I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of reading that one. It may well be in this set (which I do own) I just haven’t had the time to crack these open yet. Definitely going to be looking into it. The last Crowley work I read was Moonchild. Never before- or since- has magickal practice/knowledge been so interwoven in a fictional story.

Beautiful
Gotta read the occult so u can shed light on it

The Blue Equinox isn't written by Crowley and written by a man who went way too far - and so can be safely, ignored.
Can I ask why you have respect for masonic cults?
omg i hope i havnt been robbed! what do you mean people dont send you these types of books? omg wtf....
Hell Fire Club Books are renowned for taking customers' money and then ghosting them. My order with them that I placed in 2019 is still 'processing', unable to get my money back, and they haven't responded to a single one of my emails or messages.
This edition that I'm showing you here is a perfect way to avoid ever having to deal with those crooks.
Does it delve into child sacrifice and abuse?
For those who haven't heard this a million times, 'child sacrifice' is Victorian code for 'masturbation', at a time and place when mentionning the former would shock but was fine, whereas mentionning the latter publically would land you in prison, go figure... 🤷🏻♂️

@@FoolishFishBooks that's cool
A male child of perfect innocence and high intelligence is the most satisfactory and suitable victim" -Aleister Crowley, Magick, The Bloody Sacrifice
Thanks for your time, I like your content, very interesting knowledge.
@@chukinbahe also mentions sacrificing about 150 a year.. clearly that's not true.
It is metaphor the focused charging of sexual energy before ejaculating the male seed, the seed is pure and innocent because it's just been born. It's pretty basic sex magic
