    The manufacturing date of 1959 has me baffled. In 1957, Sunbeam started selling the plastic body portables model HM, the same year the model 12 premiered. There is no advertising of the Junior Mixmaster after December of 1956. I have a chrome Junior having a manufacturing date May 1956. The exact day I don't remember, I examined it over 10 years ago. Sunbeam Australia made the same hand mixer and was called the Sunbeam Beater-Mix and even had a model mounted on a stand! (much like the Sunbeam model HMS mixer). The beaters were ejected in the same manner used with MixMaster stand models 1, 3 and 5 using washers. These junior mixers were introduced during the production of the model 10. The styling is similar to a Model 10, having the tail fins that add stability when the mixer is rested on the counter, allowing the beater to drip over the bowl. This may have been the first mixer to have a heal rest position. Hamilton Beach's first Mixette model did not have this feature. GE, Westinghouse, Dormeyer, Knapp & Monarch all had portable mixers by 1952. West Bend, McGraw Edison, Eskimo, Iona and others had mixers during this time too. During the 1960s the sales of portable mixers increased with the introduction of cake mixes and more women entering the work force and the sales of stand mixers sharply decreased and the availability of attachments was phased out by most manufacturers.

      Yea, I was wrong on the date... between where it is positioned, slight smearing, and the fact I now wear glasses, and didnt have them when this video was made, Im surprised I even got the 50's right lol. I can see it a bit better in the video, and I believe it is 56. Thanks for the fact check, I need that sometimes! :)

    I had a nightmare last night. I dreamt you had retired from making videos. I really miss watching them! As good as they are, a person can only watch reruns so many times.

      Hey buddy, sorry about that.. I have been finding it tough to get a video done, been working on some servicing on the pile from texas. I will try to get a video up here soon, but I truly don't think will be doing as many as before, unfortunately.

    If you use the two nuts that hold the top plate on. Put them on the same screw and tighten together then with a wrench you should be able to turn the complete threaded rod out with out messing with those two sheet metal nuts. Makes it a bit easier to get them out.

    I have seen a number of your videos and I'm amazed at the level of competence you demonstrate in how you always seem to know exactly how to disassemble these mixers and deal with any issues that the mixer might have. Is this something you learned as part of your job or do you just "intuit" how to work on these things? I saw the videos you had done on the Model G (KitchenAid) restoration. I have both the Model G and the Hobart N50 (all vintage) and while these seem to be logically put together as designs, you would still have to know what you're doing in order to prevent damage in trying to work on the mixer.
    Anyway, I have gained a lot of good info on these mixers but also just enjoy watching you go thru the trouble shooting of these things. That by itself is very valuable.

    I'm going to take a sunbem mixer and attach a fan blade to the armature and create the wotld's first sunbeam fan.

    Maybe that wayward nut was keeping the armature from spinning. Looks nice

      Thanks! Yea, it was odd finding it in there, I had hoped to find the missing screws in there as well, but ended up having to use 2 new screws instead. I found the issue was with the plug end of the cord, but a loose nut inside the motor could have really ended badly!

    Thanks for this video! But how do you release the blades from the body of the mixer?

    Great video. I have this exact mixer that my mother had. Runs good but one of the beaters comes loose. Any idea why and the solution?

    AMAZING A PERSON CAN'T PERFORM SUCH A SIMPLE TASK, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL YOUR INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS! mAYBE HE'S GOT MONEY TO THROW ARROUND. iF I HAD THAT KIND OF EXTRA MONEY I'D HAVE YOU RESTORE MY 200+ MIXERS! Well maybe not, then you'd be stealing all my fun. I won't stand for that.

      These are actually a bit tricky to dissect, especially for someone that hasnt done it before. I assume the same could be said for anything really, I will rebuild a motor, but will gladly pay someone else to rebuild a transmission lol

    Nice job! I just bought a Sunbeam Mixmaster Junior, model J hand mixer. It works great, but I can't remove the beaters and don't see any eject button. Can you help? By the way, I hate winter too. Wishing my life away, but I wish it were spring.

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666 4 роки тому

      Hmm, if they are not ejecting, it is possible there is some rust on either the beater shaft, or the shaft the beater goes into. They should just pop right out for you by hand. You could try to get a little penetrating oil in the shaft port, and just let it sit upside down so the penetrant can run into there and that may free it up. Hopefully that will do the trick! This is a strange winter here this year, it is almost like last spring never left since summer was so weird as well lol.

    Good morning. Would it be possible to get an item number for the new feet you install on the Sunbeam m4 series of mixers? Also where do you get new electrical cords? Looking forward to your next video! Thanks

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666 5 років тому

      I use rubber bumpers, I think for the m4 series it is 5/8 " like these , for the cords I use 3 prong round PC cords, I can buy them new in bulk pretty cheap. www.ebay.com/itm/100-Hard-Rubber-Bumpers-Rubber-Feet-5-8-Diameter-/252039720270?hash=item3aaebced4e

    Mine has the beaters stucked, should i try pulling them harder?

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666 4 роки тому

      try to get a little penetrating oil between the beater and the port and let it sit first, it may have some corrosion locking it in place, then try pulling them out. Once they get rust inside where the beater inserts they can be a real pain to get out.
