I miss the manga/anime art styles just as much as the music of the 80's and 90's.
Because I'm as sick of A1 Pictures milktoast faces as I am of the minimalist instrumentals and exaggerated vocals of post-millenial pop at this point.
Ya. Studio Nu, Nippon Sunrise, Group TAC, and 80s Toei had a seriousness and uniqueness to their drawings and caricatures, especially if it was space dramas in the 70s and 80s. The 90s is when shit started to get fantastical, exaggerated to the point of crass, corny, and all for the sake of being edgy.

@@Kubadaniels I think perhaps for art quality in particular. I think the 70s still has them beat with narrative. Look at Ie Naki Ko, Ashita no Joe, Mirai Shounen Conan for example.

Retrowave and Synthwave are basically the same, Darkwave and Dark Synthwave are essentially the same. Darkwave is basically Synthwave with a gloomier, darker edge to it.
