After listening to the 16th vol LN... I agree with your assessment of 15 and 16 combined being mostly filler feeling. but out of 8 and a half hours only 3 hours and 20 minute was filler in that case 16 was far better. I think the point of the elf village stuff was to spell out how Ainz goofed. He'll do his thing conquer the world then realize that things won't just end peaceful because certain guardians will not allow it. 17 is his victory and 18 his fall.
I have a theories it true Ainz Dark wisdom skill can Still Magic spell can surpassing over 300 limit If she kill a player that's how she have over 700 spell And my own theories just hear me out in the new world If Ainz kill a Dragon Lord that Dragon Lord magic or wild magic Can Ainz steal it Overlord 15 and 16 was nice I give it to 9 to 10 Everyone please let me know
Yeah, I agree, I think the author is done with the series and seems kinda eager to just be done with it. He thought about writing a RomCom, but at the same time he also expressed a desire to just got back to his normal job full time. Looking back he said what inspired Overlord was his D&D group breaking up and left him feeling a bit lonely, reflecting Ainz' guildmates leaving. But that happed like a decade ago, so its possible he has nothing left to motivate or inspire him anymore. Plus I've heard that creators who work on something for a long time can sometimes end up disliking and even hating the creation they once loved, kind of a familiarity breeds contempt sort of deal combined with spending too much time on it.
Well if he is a smart person, even if his flame dies out he can sell is idea and let other people continue it or just keep on going till he is able to finish it
@@DEATHRAGE157 Selling it wouldn't be a bad move as long as its to someone who respects and loves the series and won't just see it as an easy cash cow. Though forcing himself to keep writing despite burn out would only work short term since the readers would feel his lack of passion and motivation in the quality of his work and thus lose interest eventually.
@@dreadrath After maruyama wrote his evileye spinoff i had a strong feeling that it was something similar to a "goodbye letter", the story can be interpreted as the author letting go of his old motivation, at peace with his friends being gone, enjoying what he has and trying to build New connections. The volume after did show that maruyama does still like overlord, and got over being burnt out a little, wich is why he increased the volume count, but he still seems motivated only to finish the series.
He should really pass his novel to someone else for him to continue. It'd be better this way. He himself said that he isn't interested in writing overlord anymore. He said he has basic concepts related to the loose ends and overall ending structure so he should pass this series and supervise it. This way he can really do justice to this awesome isekai series
This is the second time Ainz has ever been truly mad or outwardly and inwardly showing his dark nature. In my opinion, the next volume will be the turning point where Ainz become the character he's been masquerading as, just out of sheer anger and hatred he has for the Theocracy
@@Ikuya05hey man saw ur comment and I just wanted to ask cause I’m genuinely confused. Is the LN finished for Overlord? I read that volume 18 came out in February and I thought that was suppose to be the final but I can’t seem to find anywhere online saying it’s finished or talking about it’s end.
The pontiff and the six cardinals: why are you doing this? Ainz: thanks to you I had to kill peroroncino's Daughter I will have bestow my vengeance to all of you
I believe Ainz will destroy the Theocracy and as revenge he will also erase their history and the Gods they believe. It will be like they never existed at all
If he writes Ainz to just truly take the darker and more aggressive path, it could be taken as simply him giving up what little bit of humanity he had left and truly becoming Ainz Ooal Gown in every aspect. Not a human brought into the world and trapped in that body, but the undead lich everyone sees him as. It would make for a much easier way to wrap up the story by having him become.. well, the world's Overlord, but at the same time it could then leave the series open for sequel series where another Player is brought into the world after everything has "recovered" under Ainz' rule, and it could follow a more typical Hero vs Villain story. One where we follow a new cast of characters we can get attached to as they go against the cast we currently know and love.
The volumes 17 and 18 will be interesting to say the least. Ainz, as expected, intends to wipe the stain of Theocracy off of his dreamed Utopia XD! I think we're in for some funny surprises though. 1) Origins of humans and influence of Past Players in the New World. 2) Ainz being mistaken as Sursana and worshipped by the disaster cultists would be funny. As much as one might think it would be a total massacre, I don't think so, vol 14 was dedicated to it ! Oh it would be far beyond that. 3) Confirmation to the Secret relationship speculations between the Theocracy and PDL we've thought of. 4) Nazarik's true war potential and how Ainz may command it upon a bona fide guildbase. 5) Albedo's intentions and a reasonable conclusion to it. Despite the flowery fluff we've been through in 15 and 16, author carefully addressed how Aura and Mare would analyse Ainz's every word and how Ainz sited Albedo might betray Nazarik. 6) Fate of Ainz and PDL. Author has carefully mentioned he isn't one to be decisively defeated unless one were to head east. So personally I think either Ainz will die permanently or gain knowledge on how to fight and win against the remaining dragon lords. Author may even go further into the plot and verify whether players can be resurrected. This is something I've been waiting for and I hope the curtains would close in a satisfactory conclusion.
The thing about this is, unlike all of Ainz actions, he was never upset like he is now. He is furious at the moment. I think he will get everyone and everything, including the Goblin Army. I think Ainz is going to make an example of the Slain Theocracy. I think there is going to be a twist at the end where someone shows up like Touch me or Bukubukuchagama or even Peroroncino, and Aniz will finally not be alone in a way.
I think at some point ainz stated point blank he wanted excessive revenge for what happened to shalltear. What's going to happen to slaine will make what happened to the kingdom look like a minor disaster
Ironically, the Slane Theocracy is the ones ultimately responsible for spurring the creation and public debut of the Sorcerer King and his Kingdom due to the Black Scripture's usage of Downfall of Castle and Country against one of the Sorcerer King's Servants, motivating him to take more proactive/destructive moves against the various human nations in order to strengthen his defenses and hunt down the ones responsible without restraint.
he doesnt wanna do it anymore?😂 he could have rushed things out and made the 1 title 1 book. but he did not. dont loose hope. maybe the next title will need 2 books. and the last title needs to be divided into 3 books to cover all loose ends.
It’s the perfect series to produce a sequel to at least, if not the original author does it i hope a fan writes a story a couple hundred years later in the new world where we learn of how nazarick and ainz went after the story
Wish he just takes a break and continues it later. 10 years nonstop will burn out anyone, but perhaps a fresh mind with new ideas could give the series a fitting end.
Oh well at least he’s still writing and working on a new project. It sounded like he would simply leave writing in general after overlord. Wiping them out is easy and feels rather symbolic for how he chooses to end the series abruptly after no longer enjoying writing it lol
Maruyama: I will be rushing things. next release: Oh wait guys. this 1 title needs to be in 2 books.😂 15 opening was great. 16 ending was WOW. he could have summarized the middle to make it short boring but insted he opted for a long boring 1. its either he wants to write more or he wanna botch the overlord altogether. giving it like a nasty aftertaste.😂 great beginning. nasty ending.
@@susandinosaur732 yea he could've shotened it Vol15's dark elf's village was absolutely bland, there wasn't a reason why it was there, nothing was gained, nothing was lost, it definitely felt rushed, there were seeds of another cult like that Holy kingdom girl but they brushed it off by the end, developments canned. But yea the end though, that, was, amazing, except for the fact she could have ran... and throughout the fight all i could think of was why she's fighting an unnecessary fight and was wholeheartedly rooting for her to run, but nope... well i really don't have hopes for Vol17 now lol.
My top theorys are: 1) some of the members of Black scripture will comit suicide 7 and 11th sets are the must likely 2) Zesshi will be brainwashed and forced to deastroy slane theocracy 3) Shealltear will get some kindof revenge momment 4) Platnom dragon lord will appair and get rekt becoes Ainz will be more focused on destroying ST 5) the priests will have the most ironic deaths possibl
I'm not sure about pdl getting rekt. I think the dragon lords would be the final opponents of nazarick, possibly gonna include the city state alliance, maybe not. But the dragon lords seems to have alot of knowledge about players, npcs, world items, etc... We also don't know how powerful these dragon lords, specially that the mere controlled armor and weapons had shown to be strong and powerful... There could also be a possibility that after the sorcerer kingdom declared war on the theocracy, the council state could feel heavily threatened and might declare war on the sorcerer kingdom, whether they ally with the theocracy or not, it would be a 2 front war for the sorcerer kingdom, or could also include the city state alliance, which means they might need to provide supporting army to the baharuth empire and dragon kingdom. Meaning their forces could spread out and won't be able to fully focus on the theocracy. Though, I don't think it would need all of the floor guardians to decimate the theocracy, mare and aura or demiurge possibly could lead the invasion while the other floor guardians focuses defenses, most specially against the council state...
I think volume 17 will be the destruction of the Slain Theocracy. The war might be similar to Volume 14 (the undead armies I mean) but he will take it more seriously and Slain might put more of a fight and by that I mean against undead that are weaker than death knights. Unless if they use rituals to use 7nth tier spells. But I don't think that there is anything Slain can do to survive only put up a "fight". Volume 18 might be him fighting PDL especially since the higher ups of Slain might have info about that Ainz does not. The story might end with him going to war with the dragon lords. Maybe him killing PDL in the city of the 8 greed kings and the open ending being the war with the dragon lords.
@@susandinosaur732 it's sort of the motif of Ainz. He's thinking as a player from Yggdrasil with being cautious and strategic. Yet, on the other hand he just keeps falling upwards because of the NPCs and not wanting to correct them. Because he doesn't want to be seen as stupid or the God like image of him they have burned into their brain from their inception as living beings will be shattered and he doesn't know how they will handle that(they never would accept it and keep being loyal lol) So it leads to the hilarious situations where Ainz just sort of stumbles onto situations about 85% of the time and just wings it unless it's him basically preparing to fight like he did in pvp wars in the game. Holy Kingdom was a plan to secure another allied state just as they did with the Empire as well as take care of the demihumans following Demiurge and absorbing them into his country. Then he gets to publicly make the maids his kingdoms so they no longer have to hide. The Kingdom was an unfortunate turn of events that everybody was over thinking except Philip, he wasn't at all. The driver of the supply wagon/caravan thought it was a plan by Ainz/8 Fingers. The 8 Fingers did as well. Then when it got reported back they the npcs thought it was Ainzs plan for international carrot and stick. The Theocracy however makes the most sense and logical for him to do it. He basically 100% knows that the 6 Gods and 8 Kings were players. He knows the Theocracy goes back to the 6 Gods, and capturing the Black Scriptures strongest member basically confirms it since she had fully player divine level armor and weapons, also confirming they have at least one if not more world items that can be a threat. This is honestly the best move for him to do, especially since the Elf King is dead they will focus on Ainz now.
@@thecatwhisperer2820 Slane cant declare an all out war out of no particular reason, also they cant afford that they are aware that they are at disadvantage. Ainz cant also declare war out of no obvious reason. shalltear isnt also a public member of Sorcerer kingdom. im aware that the kingdom vs SK was all because of one intelligent dudes action but if It turns out SK vs Slane would be at war because of some small sabotage. it will be a cheap writing strategy. Im not expecting an all out war where it would echo in the nearby countries but i expect nazarick would not hold back. for example, Nazarick would make a team that will hunt scriptures outside slane. slowly and surely slane leaders and main forces could like vanish one by one until only the weak citizens remain.
@@susandinosaur732 I just want to say that that while I agree with what you're saying, I strongly disagree about the Ainz declaring war. Him and Nazarick can do whatever they want honestly. The only reason they haven't been that bold is because Ainz is very methodical from his years of pvp. And I don't expect it to just be declaring all out war for no reason. They "kidnapped", even though she attacked Mare first, the highest level person, as far as we know, in the Theocracy. If they know that, that's pretty big. Also, Ainz has an obvious reason to declare war now. Not for geopolitical reasons, but for Nazarick and himself. Them having world items and level 100 player gear, as shown with Antilene having divine level armor and weapon from two players. Ainz feels threatened by the unknown of what the Theocracy might have. Idk how it will go down to start the war and what will actually spark the fire of all out attacks, but it's obviously coming since at the end of V16 Ainz tells Albedo to prepare for war and focus entirely on defense and military might.
@@thecatwhisperer2820 well its okay if you dont agree. thats just my opinion. as for my love of overlord. i dont really want it to reuse ways it dealt with kingdoms/countries. thats just me. i just wish it dont become Re estize 2.0.😂 where they march to slane and declare war again.
If overlord ends in volume 18, as sad as it is, i think that some parts like the platinum dragon, the ring which climb used to have, the frozen corpse of brain, albedo’s secret assassination squad and the council state will all collide with the invasion of the theocracy.
If the main objective of the author changes from delivering a coherent, rich story to ASAP abridgement of everything created so far in a short time frame, then we should not expect anything but mediocrity and disappointment. It pains me to say this, as I love this story as much as any other fan, but I highly doubt we will receive anything but trash and frustration from Maruyama next time. It's hard to let go of this amazing fantasy world he has built in our heads, the entire empires filled with memorable characters and their ambitions. I bet I'm not the only one who keeps coming back to nostalgically reminisce Momonga's story. If there's one last wish I could have, I'd like to see the guild members be brought back, even if in a small part. I relate to Maruyama's loneliness after losing his DnD buddies. I'd like a bit more of these bittersweet scenes we got right at the beginning of the story. Because if we can't hope for a decent ending, I want to savour the masterpiece of the beginning a little more. Because this story will forever stay in my memory, no matter what happens in the final chapters.
I do think that even in his raging state, he wouldn't drop his cautiousness, because it's Ainz we are talking about. Ainz intended the events of Volume 14 to lure the player out, but it brought out the prominent player killer. Even he himself said the guys like Riku are a reminder to not let the guard down. Finally, Ainz (Also, readers like us) has seen something impossible in Zesshi, an individual with two Trump cards which is unheard of. Corpus of the abyss could also be another thorn in the way since they have gotten stronger.
Even if it was jokingly written in Vol16 part2 he did kinda make a blunder due to his emotions (exiting his perfect unknowable without finishing buffing himself and fully grasping his enemy), i wouldn't be surprised if if he made a blunder this time.
I would love it if Maruyama would sell the series after finishing it, not to the highest corporate bidder. (Those guys just drive everything in the dirt nowadays.) But selling to somebody or group that will treat the series with love and respect, and expanding on it with respect for the original spirit and direction of the series.
I could see Ainz being cautious because they used a World Item on Shalltear. How can Ainz be sure they don't have any other World Items and what could they be. Trying to steamroll the Theocracy would be risky because of that, wouldn't it?
they dont need to steamroll. invade slane. also its bad writing if he did. Holy kingdom. inside job. the kingdom. all out war. theocracy. all out war again?
@@susandinosaur732 Lol u just missed the calm background of volume 15 and 16. U are talking about volume 12-13 and 14 then volume 17. Volume 12 even just about adventure of Neia to build up the all out fighting of volume 13.
@@solidpas761 let me elaborate. what im talking about is bad writing.. On how would ainz deal with every country. Imagine if like all country just find themselves pissing off ainz. then war. then peace. then next😂 refresh the sequence. next. I will be retarded if im reading a series just like that.
@@solidpas761 As of volume 14. the LN was good because different territories are dealt in different ways. If theocracy is kingdom 2.0 then maruyama will have the greatest flop in LN of all time.
yea... the only real fight we had was way back when during the Shalltear fight. Ever since then it was like looking at a kid playing in the sand pit, kicking over sand castles and sand, it was entertaining at first but after at this point 16 volumes, it gets frigging tiring and i hope vol 17 and 18 will not be like that because hell..
If you haven't heard? There's a guy called Atheist Basement Dragon. Who's wrote like an entire library of bandass fiction about overlord? And it's really good. I highly recommend you check it out.
He mentions in the afterword that he was planning on offing blue Roses but changed his mind he said "would they really die such moronic death though? " It makes sense cause they can teleport so you can argue that not running away would be a really moronic thing to do
I don't think going full throttle is Maruyama's style. He'll probably create some casus belli with the Theocracy first, possibly laying some bait and making them strike first. Now that they have access to information from a Godkin, they could hit them where it hurts with covert ops as well. Heck, they might go and mess with the Catastrophe Dragon Lord, a call back all the way to the beginning.
i cant imaginer maruyama making nazarick invade theocracy without a valid reason in the eyes of the new world citizens. as it means admiting he is with shaltear. momon will look like a fool. E rantel would be in shambles. Im imagining more like their first target is the always on the move black scripture. intercepting them and other scripture until slane theorcracy has no choice but storm SK capital
I think volume 15 and 16 was kinda weak story that they went to the dark elf village.but however, as the story unfolds, ainz saw a weird tactic the theocracy was conducting in fighting the elves and couldn't really understand why.the thing is the theocracy could burn and pillage but they are not doing it.the theocracy is actually planning to use the elven forest to escape and reorganize when the war against the sorcerer kingdom go badly for the theocracy.or the theocracy could run away farther into the east... Where does the dark elves importance could be valuable in this matter?with zeshi becoming a prisoner of the sorcerer kingdom, they will find out the plans of the theocracy that zeshi knows.this could include the escape or contingency plan of the theocracy.the sorcerer kingdom can use the excuse of protecting the dark elves with either mare or aura.anf could also include the "elves helped the dark elves" excuse to also "save" the elves.or zeshi getting pregnant by mare and they have a claim to the throne of the elves.this excuse of protecting the dark elves and saving the elves could thwart the theocracy's escape or contingency plan.plus,a means to surround or blockade the theocracy... Sasuga Ainz sama, what a genius 10,000 year advanced thinking...
I dropped it on 15 lol i dont even consider after v13 cannon. Did like the series a lot up to that poimt but its taken a massive nose dive to the point fanfics are better quality
I hope we do get more bonus volumes. I know the reason is because he is just writing more and first book has a lot less pages then last books. As for Storylines I wanna see tied up, I wanna see Brain resurrected and Brain and Climb meet Sebas in the Tomb. it would be awesome he trained them to be like Killer Butlers for Ainz or something haha
I hope he puts that one experiment about changing faith into use that he has been doing on that priest that invaded with those mercenaries or at least where he don’t give them a fast death since death is mercy but that’s my hopes
Volume 17 would be the Slain Theocracy will get wiped out and would as for the help of the Dragonlords Volume 18 would be Cure Emil Vs Nazarick and this Cure Emil is almost Comparable the the Power of the Dragon Emperor, so it would be the Residents of The 8th Floor and Robedo vs Cure Emil But hey that's just a Theory! A Novel Theory.
Honeslty i hope, but he did say he wanted to go back to being a salary man so.... but yea wouldn't be that bad if there was a guild that get spawned around Evil's old kingdom on another continent and the story revolves around them.
Sadly Ainz won;t meet his friends at the end, which was his biggest wish of all... Also Ainz will fight another Overlord like him, who created Slain Theocracy. He never vanished, the only player that is alive for 500 years... He most likely calculated the period when new players will come to this world, so he was getting ready for them to come to his world. Also there were other undead like little fingers, who are interested in knowledge and their leader has achieved level 9 tier... Also he was right to be careful of players, him invading Slain theocracy is basically like attacking another guild. Also Ainz Oal Gown is a very famous name, so basically player knows him and got prepared... Platinum Dragon Has killed many players leaving the Slain Theocracy Overlord alive. Basically I think Last 2 books will be divided into parts, so get ready to read several books maybe. His friends might had never came to this new world in first place. Basically what we see here: author copied DnD characters into this light novel, that his friends were playing. His friends will never play with him DnD, but their playthroughs will be stuck with him forever. Ainz kind of hated full time job, it's kind of ironic, that the author wants to go back to ussual work...
1 more season and possibly a movie. Its sad when you reflect how the events transpired in vol 16 & 17. To me, it felt like it was a bit rushed. Also, I have a feeling that this final vol will be a bit rushed aswell. I don't mind it since the author's age is catching on fast. He probably just wants to end it and retire completely, perhaps assist other projects.
Maybe the story about the city state alliance? I don't think they are really that strong but they seems to be good at diplomacy that they were able to pull together different races to live together... But they are kinda sidelined for some time, like the holy kingdom...
Uhm, the re-estize kingdom had so much flaws, like severely depleted army which still hasn't fully recovered from the massacre of katze plains, inner circles and agents secretly crippling it and most importantly, and idiot king who just showed he's willing to protect a criminal than save his kingdom... The theocracy on the other hand, the sorcerer kingdom barely have any agents, or possibly none or very few in the theocracy. They have support items, world items, weapons and armors of their 6 gods. Still intact army, though, kinda weakened since they just finished a bloody war against the elven kingdom. they could also cry out and beg to council state, baharuth and city state alliance for help. Though, baharuth would be most likely never betray ainz, specially that the emperor had given up going against ainz and seen that his empire and himself actually improving much better after becoming a vassal to ainz. City state alliance might be dealt offscreen or on side story. The true possible ally or help that the theocracy could beg on is the council state, which has the dragon lords and possibly hidden or secretly strong and/or powerful individuals or groups...
Alexander hopes Slane Theocracy will be wiped out of the map and every human living in that nation as well. The humans were suppose to be extinct centuries ago until a group of powerful emerged into the New World and saves those wretched humans from destruction.
I think that Ainz will probably be going all out on the Theocracy in the next volume! After all, we already got three war arcs with vol 9, 12, 13, and 14. So I think the author, if they really want to end the series, will probably do something a little different this time.
i dont think its a full head on battle, SK invading Slane. Im kinda feeling like nazarick would hunt scriptures and key figures. like intercepting a scripture team on the move. kinda like hunting. until slane decides that they needs to make the first public move. and move northward.
@@susandinosaur732 Well, I think Ainz Will FINALLY start using those World Items he has in his vault. There was also this line in Vol. 15 about the Thoecracy making an alliance with the Dragon Lords. While it was said as a joke, the whole thing screamed like foreshadowing to me.

Absolutely, i'm an artist so i know that feeling on a personal level. It felt exactly like how i've been working on an art piece that i've lost passion for too long and it turned out like a wet noodle. He probably was glad he even got it over and not how accomplished he feels.
No surprise Antilene lost, Fairy Tail has taught me to never believe in overhyped antagonist's/villains. She lost the moment she faces a member of Nazarick, disappointing but it was expected as per usual. At the very least I hope Antilene has a happier ending than most. There is a possibility that Ainz will see the memories from the conversation she had with the captain from Overlord II episode 1 about her marrying a man stronger than her an having a child with them, that Ainz will let her live and become Mare's wife. I can accept an ending where Antilene marries Mare and has a child with him.
If that about the Non-Overlord-Sequel is true, then this should have made bigger waves: That means the Best-Overlord-Theory, which is that its all just one big Prologe to introduce hte RAEAL Protaginst, this time a Hero, is Wrong
Overlord will end on volume 18? 15 and 16 was 1 title. (as the title says. half elf god kin 1 and 2.) i expect 2 more titles. on how many book that turns out. i dont know. maybe 2 each.😂
The title was nice but it took a long time for the half-elf godkin king to show up, then he got rekted hard... I think the elven kingdom or something else could had been much better title...
Ur theory will never come to pass, there doing a movie now with 2 volumes and u think there going to do a movie & season 5? Thats heavy coup! "season is 3 vol's not 4." Ur ignoring the fact volume 15 i& 16 s just padded stuff that they will skip over, read the volume and ur then understand why Season 5 will be 4 volumes not 3.
Here's how it is going to happen in my theory. Ainz, Nazarick, and Allies will go to war with Theocracy. Theocracy and Coucil State/Dragon Lords/PDL team up on the other end. We will finally see Ainz use his red orb World item and whenever he's vulnerable to world items when the orb disappears, the Theocracy and Dragon Lords and the Dragon Emperor, who was confirmed to be over level 100 but up in the air if survived 8GK players. They will use Longinus and delete Ainz as well as somebody like the D. Emperor from existence when he uses it on him. Then Nazarick will still win and be the biggest reality check to the next player/s that appear in the New World with everything set up hard-core as they dedicate their new lives to waiting/looking for a world item to revive Ainz. Maybe Ouroboros, one of the 11 Nazarick owns that hasn't been confirmed, or one we don't know of yet. The b
Just asking but does the author view Overlord as a failure or something that he wants to start a new LN. I honestly time Overlord has done so good it has multiple seasons and a spin off, and a cult following. Not to bash the author but it crazy to me that he is that bored of Overlord.
@@sydneyg2235 I don’t think its lack of ideas, there a lot of sub plots and more nations, and questions that are unanswered. He also wants to start a new LN, honestly I think he probably doesn’t have as much passion to continue Overlord. Personally I’m kinda upset because I love Overlord, but he is the creator so nothing I can do but accept his design and hope for an ending worthy of Ainz Ooal Gown.
@@andersongarcia3754 some of the reasons are: 1.) He has been doing this for way too many years. *2.) He doesn't get paid enough for writing the novel. He signed a bad contract and he is doing a full-time regular job alongside writing Overlord all this time.* Combine both reasons together and you'd see why he decided to take the L and leave it all behind as soon as possible.
Overlord was initially suppose to be 30 volumes, then it dropped to 27, then 23, and now it's finishing with 18. The author was upset with the way the anime was done from the beginning and it's ruined his passion for Overlord. I don't blame him because as a light novel reader I found it mediocre and nothing more than a poorly done cash grab. He's at the point now where the story he loved writing in the beginning, he is loathing at the end. The last 2 volumes, in my opinion, clearly shows he just wants to end it. I finished volume 15 and 16, I was not impressed at all. Volume 15 was boring and a complete waste in my opinion. There was nothing of any importance learned or gained by going to the dark elves. The battle with the elf king and the strongeat scripture was the only thing I personally found even slightly interesting in volume 16. Compared to the previous volumes it just doesn't look like the interest is in it anymore. You're gonna have the cult followers that say everything released is flawless. I'm not someone who if you put a shit sandwich in front of me will take a big bite, smile, and say "this is a damn good hamburger". No, I'll say "that's a shit sandwich and I don't eat shit".
The best way to end this in both a semi/not satisfying way while still making sense is him being woken up from a coma back into his real/normal life after a big battle reaches its climax imo
That's a bit hard to justify since the NPC have "lives" outside of Ainz's supervision. However, recall that one of the members of Ainz Ooal Gown was killed by "higher" because he learned something about the game
I wish people would stop praising Ainz Ooal Gown (the organization) for committing outright evil deeds. The whole point of the show is to show that they are evil and that they're doing detestable acts (that aren't justifiable lol) that are understandable to some extent. They're still pretty fucking sick bastards.
@@Lexion141Taskforceofthedamned Lol? I like the franchise. I don't like the community's jacking off to what is an obviously evil cast, which the author deliberately presents in a way that should disturb the reader instead of praising and glorifying their actions.
Everyone in the new world is downright evil and deserves the blade. Momonga just adds to the stack. It's not about saying what they do is good. It's about chosing the lesser evil. And Ainz Ooal Gown is the least evil faction in the New World. Theocracy are literally the 3rd reich.
I think it has some strong points, but the way the community treats and sides with the main characters is giga weird and definitely misses some of the themes that it tries to present.

How's it poorly written? it's called Overlord for a reason.. if there was actual threats it would have been established much earlier in the story anyway.
@@mrdonvictor117 Well, thing is at first there were stakes, threat of the unknown, after they take away that threat with Ainz not hiding anymore then it became a mess and it all went down hill from there.
I have a theories it true
Ainz Dark wisdom skill can
Still Magic spell can surpassing over 300 limit
If she kill a player that's
how she have over 700 spell
And my own theories just hear me out in the new world
If Ainz kill a Dragon Lord that
Dragon Lord magic or wild magic
Can Ainz steal it
Overlord 15 and 16 was nice
I give it to 9 to 10

Funfact: the author of log horizon was part of his dnd group. He said it in an interview,I forgot which one
@@DEATHRAGE157 That would be as smart as George Lucas. But seriously, just let a good thing end great instead of it going through a downward spiral.
Maybe the isekai quartet continuation? 🤔🤔🤔
This is the second time Ainz has ever been truly mad or outwardly and inwardly showing his dark nature. In my opinion, the next volume will be the turning point where Ainz become the character he's been masquerading as, just out of sheer anger and hatred he has for the Theocracy

Tbf that sounds like the most human thing ainz has ever done
On point number 2, something similar happens in the web novel.
where is sursana atm?
@@AcheLone Dead I think. Done in by the 8 GKs as of volume 10.
@@AcheLone When the greed kings came he went to fight them, well.. that didn't end well.
It's super sad he doesn't want to do it anymore. It's such a brilliant story I wish he kept going and didn't rush to the end

@@susandinosaur732 Here's hoping vol17 is 3 parts or something, cuz PDL is not going to sit by and watch. Also that vol 18 won't be "lmao the end"

My top theorys are:
1) some of the members of Black scripture will comit suicide 7 and 11th sets are the must likely
2) Zesshi will be brainwashed and forced to deastroy slane theocracy
3) Shealltear will get some kindof revenge momment
4) Platnom dragon lord will appair and get rekt becoes Ainz will be more focused on destroying ST
5) the priests will have the most ironic deaths possibl
Maybe him killing PDL in the city of the 8 greed kings and the open ending being the war with the dragon lords.
holy kingdom was inside job.
kingdom was all out war.
And all out war again? aint that bad writing?😂
@@susandinosaur732 it's sort of the motif of Ainz. He's thinking as a player from Yggdrasil with being cautious and strategic. Yet, on the other hand he just keeps falling upwards because of the NPCs and not wanting to correct them. Because he doesn't want to be seen as stupid or the God like image of him they have burned into their brain from their inception as living beings will be shattered and he doesn't know how they will handle that(they never would accept it and keep being loyal lol)
So it leads to the hilarious situations where Ainz just sort of stumbles onto situations about 85% of the time and just wings it unless it's him basically preparing to fight like he did in pvp wars in the game.

Slane cant declare an all out war out of no particular reason, also they cant afford that they are aware that they are at disadvantage.

I'm sure Ainz realized early on with talents and martial arts that many things that were impossible in Yggdrasil are possibly in the New World.
(Those guys just drive everything in the dirt nowadays.)
But selling to somebody or group that will treat the series with love and respect, and expanding on it with respect for the original spirit and direction of the series.

Im imagining more like their first target is the always on the move black scripture. intercepting them and other scripture until slane theorcracy has no choice but storm SK capital
and or make catastrophe dragon attack when slane is defenseless.

I think the Platinum dragon lord will rush into help the theocracy with every asset he has. it's going to be 2v1 in the last chapter
Volume 17 would be the Slain Theocracy will get wiped out and would as for the help of the Dragonlords
Volume 18 would be Cure Emil Vs Nazarick and this Cure Emil is almost Comparable the the Power of the Dragon Emperor, so it would be the Residents of The 8th Floor and Robedo vs Cure Emil
But hey that's just a Theory! A Novel Theory.
I'd love to see you do a more in depth follow-up
The sad times have come 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Trust the process, Overlord is a prequel
Mushoku Tensei is a prequel
It would be interesting to see what Ainz would do in a hundred years if more players or even a World Enemy arrived.
We hope that you or someone reads or does a audiobook on volume 17 soon and 18 when out. You can use AI to translate it also. 🙂👍

Bold of you to assume there will be a season 6 lmao. I think it'll end with another season + movie combo if even that
Air dropping undead into their cities would be amusing
When is vol.17 being released?
I agree as well, I think ainz might go full out aggressive
1 more season and possibly a movie. Its sad when you reflect how the events transpired in vol 16 & 17. To me, it felt like it was a bit rushed. Also, I have a feeling that this final vol will be a bit rushed aswell. I don't mind it since the author's age is catching on fast. He probably just wants to end it and retire completely, perhaps assist other projects.
I would love to see side story
In the main storyline
Maybe the story about the city state alliance? I don't think they are really that strong but they seems to be good at diplomacy that they were able to pull together different races to live together...
But they are kinda sidelined for some time, like the holy kingdom...
im so curious at the wallpaper i wonder what will happen to zesshi in the story.
Mare might do stuff to her, like breed an heir to the elven kingdom? 🤔🤔🤔
I want a game so badly, mass for the undead was cool of a story but got shut down before we could see the rest.
I think it will become a triangle battle theocracy vs nazarick vs pdl
I expect at the very least the Theocracy will put up a better fight than the former Re-Estize Kingdom. Outcome will be the same, but still.
Honestly I feel Ainz is going full mongol and will devastate any and all who stand against him.
They love keeno that's probably why
If we want an Overlord volume 19, Hollywood needs to make an "Overlord: Evolution" movie.
Please god no
I think that Ainz will probably be going all out on the Theocracy in the next volume!
@@daanduijkers4845 Hes ordering everyone to prepare. yeah i expect something like them divided into 6 member team. leader got world item. most if not all world item will be in use. as a protection item.
Wouldn't this be seen as an unprovoked act of war because the slane theocracy didn't know about shalltears connection to ainz
Where is the dragon emperor located? Curious, any thoughts?
I haven't read Vol older than 7-8 so i dont have the full picture, but i do recall almost all of them died including PDL's father the emperor fighting the 8GK.
Muruyama kinda hinted of an all out war but yeah it’s not titles Overlord for nothing we need to see the rule of Ainz over the new world 🌎
His race is overlord....
The end is where zesshi is pregnant. Ainz's son will appear and kill him and after all Nazarick will be destroyed.
Overlord volume 18 is pretty good.
Don't you find it really weird how the anime writer wants to do a schoolgirl anime? Like what the heck is wrong with him???
forget the theocracy the organization run by undead and not talking about bone daddy will make it an lot more fun
volume 16 reeked of burnout writing tbh, speaking personally
If that about the Non-Overlord-Sequel is true, then this should have made
bigger waves: That means the Best-Overlord-Theory, which is that its all just one big Prologe to introduce hte RAEAL Protaginst,
this time a Hero, is Wrong
I wanna share there is a game in ps1 that looks like overlord. Its a tactics game
Overlord will end on volume 18?
15 and 16 was 1 title.
(as the title says. half elf god kin 1 and 2.)
i expect 2 more titles. on how many book that turns out. i dont know. maybe 2 each.😂
The title was nice but it took a long time for the half-elf godkin king to show up, then he got rekted hard...
I think the elven kingdom or something else could had been much better title...
My theory is that we get another movie and season 5 or finish it with a bad season 5 or a 20 episode season 5 a season is 3 vol's not 4.
@@Espiritu_Analysis considering the fact that I can't read Japanese all the way for them to be released in English then I'll know what you mean
Whats the latest english translated (fan or official) LN volume ? 14 or 15 ?
Don't worry bro, I'm sure most of us are pirates anyway ☠️.

Will rubedo Come out?
To be honest it sounds like we're not even going to get 17 and 18
Wouldn’t the dragon lord join the battle
I think the author will give someone else to write overlord, like akira toriyama and masashi kishimoto did,but who knows this is a idea for a video
If his fans don’t harass him he may come back in a few years cuz he misses the characters... it would maybe be awhile though.
Kind of a shame someone who has a master piece is rushing it
It’s sad that the writer decide to stop…

The elven arc was just so disappointing, felt like 80%
of it was wasted opportunity.
Not to bash the author but it crazy to me that he is that bored of Overlord.
he is been writing it for like 10 years he is running out of idea's
@@sydneyg2235 I don’t think its lack of ideas, there a lot of sub plots and more nations, and questions that are unanswered. He also wants to start a new LN, honestly I think he probably doesn’t have as much passion to continue Overlord. Personally I’m kinda upset because I love Overlord, but he is the creator so nothing I can do but accept his design and hope for an ending worthy of Ainz Ooal Gown.
@@andersongarcia3754 some of the reasons are:
1.) He has been doing this for way too many years.
*2.) He doesn't get paid enough for writing the novel. He signed a bad contract and he is doing a full-time regular job alongside writing Overlord all this time.*
Combine both reasons together and you'd see why he decided to take the L and leave it all behind as soon as possible.
Like bule rose whyyyyyy
I hope the author allows. Other people to make side story's to overlord.
Very circular
However, recall that one of the members of Ainz Ooal Gown was killed by "higher" because he learned something about the game
imagine if ainz go berserk and gets too cocky, and then he dies lol
first
I wish people would stop praising Ainz Ooal Gown (the organization) for committing outright evil deeds. The whole point of the show is to show that they are evil and that they're doing detestable acts (that aren't justifiable lol) that are understandable to some extent. They're still pretty fucking sick bastards.
Then don't watch the Overlord if you don't like it, it's simple go to another anime
@@Lexion141Taskforceofthedamned Lol? I like the franchise. I don't like the community's jacking off to what is an obviously evil cast, which the author deliberately presents in a way that should disturb the reader instead of praising and glorifying their actions.
Ainz Ooal Gown is justice. Weakness is a sin
He’s doing the right thing damn it you are the one doesn’t get it
Everyone in the new world is downright evil and deserves the blade. Momonga just adds to the stack. It's not about saying what they do is good. It's about chosing the lesser evil. And Ainz Ooal Gown is the least evil faction in the New World. Theocracy are literally the 3rd reich.
Carne Village and Renner might end up killing ainz as the end of the story since he has gone too far
Overlord is a badly written series and the fact the author is bored and done with it, says it all.
I think it has some strong points, but the way the community treats and sides with the main characters is giga weird and definitely misses some of the themes that it tries to present.
@@andreigelaga4120 what would they be? I’m not arguing against you I’m just curious
I want a general Critique of this series cuz it’s so worshipped despite its flaws
@@LTDLetsPlays For me it's the fact that there is almost never any stakes. Ainz and his NPC are never in danger, and because of that I think that the whole destroy a kingdom schtick gets old. I would have loved to the Dragon Lords to have appeared before and they to be an actual threat.
I remember realing Holy kingdom and it was entertaining but i remember it feeling like it was a big play with nothing to really threaten Ainz, and it was, that was the entire schtick but it got old fast.
Don't worry theocracy, there are still non canon entities that can 1 shot ainz even fully armed with WCI... so you better find those and team up with them... also theocracy has that item that can banish a player right? (web novel bullsh1t insert🤣🤣🤣)... Just let them go inside your base and do what you did in web novel and you will be fine and get what ainz owned as well after.... I hope that lizard(pdl) will join too since he can too damage ainz fully armed with his WCI (🤣🤣🤣🤣) ... so yeah theocracy has nothing to worry about ainz is not the strongest in the new world, non canon entities and web novel is... lmao...
