I did this exact thing once to a Pentium 4 motherboard that had swollen electrolytic caps. However all I had was a 25 watt soldering iron. It was very difficult melting the solder, but I did and and it worked afterwards.

@eletronic7979 yes yes everything is right what it says. ... but to recover a $20 mobo spending $700 on the soldering station and anything else seems madness to me... unless you do it professionally... then the matter changes .. but not out of passion...😏

Am I the only one that’s gonna ask why the caps are in backwards? The white silkscreen on the motherboard is the negative side of the cap.
They've asked this question before. In some models of Asus brand motherboards, capacitors are printed in this way.
I was replacing the exact same capacitors on an older ASUS P4PE board and i was confused at first but it seems like thats how ASUS decided to do it

Hi. I use isopropyl alcohol for post soldering cleaning. I use flux to make soldering easier.

Tem placas, e na sua maioria não são tão fáceis assim, o tamanho do furo é poucos milésimos maior que o terminal do capacitor e na hora da soldagem do novo, fica bem custoso usando apenas o ferro de solda! ;)

一般人哪有帶吸錫功能的烙鐵,我都是先加多一點焊錫把電容移除後再用吸錫線把表面多餘的殘錫清理乾淨,最後孔內不容易清除的錫用細鑽尾把洞鑽開,不然多層板想要把那麼小的孔內殘錫給弄掉那可真是一件困難的事,加熱時間萬一過長一個弄不好就可能板上的銅箔給燒脫落了....

Eu estive averiguando umas placas mãe e o lado marcado do capacitor é a marca para soldar na placa aonde está marcado. Este vídeo tem um equívoco nas marcas do capacitor com a placa mãe. Tem erros de inversão do capacitor, se inverter a posição ele queima.🤔🤔🤔🤔

There is a 4th spot for a cap - not sure if you removed it from the board before filming. Should you add a cap where one could go? If it wasn't there to begin with, should you add one? Thanks for the great how-to! Do you have a video where you replace certain caps on a monitor PCB, to restore the color quality?
It was optional - it allows manufacturer some flexibility - if they can't find 1500uF electrolytic capacitors, they could use 1200uF capacitors and get same capacitance - as long as you get above some minimum threshold you're good. Often the total capacitance can be lower if you use solid/polymer capacitors - for example on that board you'd probably be fine with 4 820uF solid/polymer capacitors
On a lot of motherboards they used multiple smaller value capacitors (ex 1500uF) because of height restrictions, they couldn't use taller 3300uF because they would have blocked the cooler heatsink. So with more modern series and solid/polymer capacitors, it's often possible to decrease capacitance a bit or adjust the number of capacitors in parallel in such circuits - though you kinda need experience, have to understand the circuit and the intent of the designer.
