Idk where these lobsters came from but when I was growing up my mom would cook live lobster once a week and when she’d throw them in the pot she’d have to hold the lid down to keep them from jumping out they’d be thrashing around so hard and it’d sound like they were screaming but supposedly they don’t scream it supposed to be air and water escaping their shells, sounded like they were screaming their asses off to me though but whatever.

We were taught to place the lobster in the freezer and put them in a state of hibernation and then immediately put into boiling water. I was shocked that the live lobster was completely docile. I will continue to do what I was taught by my mother and freeze first.

Lobsters have very simple brains, their pain reflex isn't the same as ours. Some scientists say they don't feel pain at all, just a danger reflex. Some others say they do, but not like us, losing a limb would be like a pinch.
But still, once in boiling water they die in seconds. Some places kill them first by stabbing through the brain and cutting in half, but they actually live several times longer doing this than by boiling alive.
The reason boiling alive is done is because of the bacteria in them, if not cooked an hour after killed they are poisonus.
