I am not sure how it would be possible to make this video any better. You know how to make a mackerel rig, but you also know how to make a first class video. Thanks for making and sharing.
Paul, I have watched this over and over, and I still wish that I could be so fortunate to fish in a beautiful setting as Scotland. I have to agree with your sentiment about just being there is good enough.
Sadly i no longer live there and this was just a holiday to see friends who do, the whistle at the end was from a fishing buddy and hopefully we will be going back this summer for a bit of whistling and a bit of fishing. Thanks
Your video is the best. I followed them and made several variants of sabiki rigs before I went to Maine, USA for a two weeks vacation. All of them worked just great. Caught a lot of mackerels and pollocks. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
i love all your videos, they are so informative, clear and simple to understand. i enjoy the fact that you use the rigs uve made to show how u make use of them and how they work effectively. thanks so much for doing these videos.
This is brilliant. I've made your other mackerel rigs, with great success, catching spanish mackerel. And with as much coffee as I drink, this is a logical next step. Thanks so much for this!
***** I used to fish with a guy who ran on triple espressos, sometimes it was a little like talking to an over-revving outboard engine but he was from Brazil and knew how to catch fish. Thanks and Good Luck
What's great is that the coffee packaging is "pre-scented". I find a bag of Starbucks grounds, which I received as a gift and I'll never drink, makes for great scent and worm food w a garlic clove or two. Great video as always! You have that creative Detroit spirit across the pond. Cheers!
Oh man, I could almost taste those mackerel. My mom (passed now) and I were the only ones in the family that loved mackerel on the barbecue in summer and in a bake in winter. Thanks for the memories. All the best to you. Scenery was beautiful as well. Sean
I’ve made multiple sets and am really enjoying making them. Plan on giving some way to friends and have already caught some sea trout on them. Great idea and superb narration and editing.
Kinda cool with that mackerel image in the coffe...i like that, and great video aswell. Now i also have coffe mackerel rigs thanks to you Handmade Fisherman 👍😊
One of my favorite episodes. I've made many variations of mackerel rigs over the last couple of years. One of my favorite materials is the bag from Doritos chips which are very shiny and durable not to mention the chips are a nice bonus.
Very nice video, explained very well and a delight to watch. I've made several sets now as fish in Norway, to loose tackle can get very expensive and almost inevitable here, for something like this about 3 pounds a pop and made in China. I caught loads of fish with them, pollock, mackerel, colefish and I even had a codling and pollock together once.
+Scott tork I started making them because i used to lose the far eastern made ones in the reefs and kelp, and i figured that someone else was sitting down and tying them so why couldn't it be me. I think one of my best days was showing somebody on the beach how to make them and then the pair of us catching fish. Thanks
Great video that’s my lockdown afternoon sorted financially this doesn’t make sense but the satisfaction of nailing fish on homemade lures is sheer joy
Made a couple of sets of these with size 4 hooks, and had a double hookup of little pollack on my very first cast into lock Creran! Great for pollack and mackerel, great vid, thanks for sharing, I'll never buy another set of lures again!
Always a pleasure watching your videos , Paul , ...never knew that method how to tie a sidearm knot , ........also a great sight to see each hook of your rig engaged with mackerel , ........cheers , Dieter
Thank you for this video, with instructions on how to tie each lure to the main line. Your instructions are clear, simple and easy to follow. Your videos are good quality and the angles are superb. I also make my own mackerel/bluefish and sabiki rigs. This video is very helpful. You are creative and amazing. I love all your videos. Can you possibly do more videos of you ocean fishing? We enjoy watching you catch fish. Spouse and some family are from Ireland and Scotland. We are planning 2-week vacation to Ireland/Scotland next year and hope to do some fishing. Hope to use some of your handmade rigs.
Hi Paul, I made it and use it as a teaser with my casting jig using your same tip to connect it to the leader, miracles are hapening, thanks for the great video and tips.
***** juste a small remark Paul if i may, I noticed that you changed the knot you are using to tie the feather to the hook (comparing to earlier similar rigs in 2012 and 2013) , is there any particular reason? thanks
This is the knot i actually started out tying when i began making feather traces, it works and it it quick but it is not as strong as the knot i developed later which is in most of the videos. It only really works well with simple attachments and very few turns round the hook so it is not something i would use for everything but in this situation i am happy with it. Thanks for spotting and asking
Great guide, I'm gonna try it for freshwater perch... but jigging.

it was my first time to watch this video, I enjoyed the sceneries a lot, specially that last scene when the camera came to pulling out the 4 mackerels all one after another lining up perfectly. ... today is nasty day out side in NY with lots of rain and wind gusts before the hurricane, but u made me but on my fishing mode and went out , so I would like to thank you
+usamail usanyc The world often looks a little wilder from behind the curtains, so many times I have forced myself out and had the best of times. thanks
Awesome I'll got try this rig out at local pond. Plus catching 2 '3'4 fish at the same time. That's for ideas you gave me.Plus liked this video vary much. Thanks again for wonderful tip.:-) Paul addimes.
Yeha! Nice job with "nothing" but calm and simple way, i like this in your video! I don't have maquerel into my lake, but i can try this for pearch fiching (with small hook :) ). Thanks for your work and sharing! Stephane
Another awesome video Paul! Super cool idea.. Used ur previous vids to make sabikis! Work great... love the shrimp pattern sabiki the most! Looks Awesome can't wait to tie this one next!
Amazing thank you for the great video I did it but instead I have used parrot feathers cuz I have a pet parrot and there's a lot of old feathers with nice colours on them like red blue yellow and green so I used them with some type of reflective sewing thread And guess what it worked perfect for the mackerel and some sardines hooked too
@@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman i made a jig today thanks for the lesson on tying the knots can't wait to go down to the Boston Harbor and try to catch some more mackerel
All I can say is another wow. Amazing video, thank you.
Wow... Nice to see someone that makes a lure and then test it...
I am not sure how it would be possible to make this video any better. You know how to make a mackerel rig, but you also know how to make a first class video.
Thanks for making and sharing.
Robb's Homemade Life thanks
Maybe use a dark cloth as background to see the tying and line better.
I was thinking the same. Quality content.
TRUE!!!

the quality, them angles, that narration. perfect, just perfect. thank you!
This the coolest fishing videos I've seen.
Excellent! Well presented, showing that they work as well!
These are well made and look fish enticing. I have checked their movements in low clear water and am anxious to try them in the lake.
I’ve made many of these mackerel rigs and they work like a charm, thanks for showing me how!
What's great is that the coffee packaging is "pre-scented". I find a bag of Starbucks grounds, which I received as a gift and I'll never drink, makes for great scent and worm food w a garlic clove or two. Great video as always! You have that creative Detroit spirit across the pond. Cheers!
Thanks, we still have a car plant but lots of empty streets. The coffee scent has almost got rid of the fish smell from my bag.
Yeha! Nice job with "nothing" but calm and simple way, i like this in your video! I don't have maquerel into my lake, but i can try this for pearch f

What a fantastic tip. I'm just getting back into fishing after an almost 30yr break! Will be having a go at making this rig very soon. Many thanks.
Karlos Fandango I see you have finally come to your senses after 30yrs, welcome back and don't let it happen again. oh and thanks
As always top notch video. Thank you for all your helpful and inspiring videos. I liked the touch with the fish in the coffee froth.
Mike Derrick I wondered if anybody would spot the fish, thanks

I watched this shoal of mackerel move up chasing little whitebait, i think they hit the rig just after it hit the water. Cheers Dieter

Nicely done. Sometimes the simplest things are the most productive. I fish freshwater so may tie some singles up and use them for fly fishing.
hello paul, I congratulate you on your video taught me a lot to prepare my sabikis better. greetings from Venezuela
Luis Alvarez greetings and thanks
Hey it's like a big sabiki. I love those things. They tear it up in Florida. All the bait fish you could want.
