Hi David. I just wanted to tell you that I found your videos of fishing various points on the Fleurieu most informative & very helpful. I never tried surf cast beach fishing before but as soon as I arrive in Adelaide 27 Nov for your summer, I plan to pick up a 12' rod & reel combo from BCF in Victor. Will initially be staying in Goolwa until mid January thereafter will be based in Happy Valley, walking distance to the rezzie there. I went to Bass Pro shop in Buffalo, NY a few days ago & bought all kinds of great plastic baits, vibes and crankbaits plus other stuff that I can fit in my luggage. I hope to be doing more fishing in some of the spots you featured rather than just sitting on the Brighon Jetty this forthcoming summer. Hope the rain stops soon too. Keep up the great work with your most excellent video's! Yes, I am now subscribed. Regards, Walt
Hi Walter nice to hear from you mate especially from the USA sounds like you have traveled to Australia before, it's good to hear you have found my videos handy. Never surf fished before, well around Goolwa and back towards Victor Harbour there are quite a few places to try your luck especially for mulloway (I have a video called Australian salmon rigs and cooking yummy fish cakes at 26min's into it I show the mulloway rig I use you may find it helpful I do rave on a bit sometimes.) that is a good rig around the goolwa area the workers at BCF will be more than happy to help you out with tackle and where to go have a fish(Bashams Beach is one) if you head out to waitpinga or parsons it will probably be best to fish the ways I fish on my video's fishing off those beaches. Thank you for subscribing and watching Walter I hopefully will get out soon before my job gets really busy(maggot breeder Sheldon's bait) and get another video done. Also you might find my Yellow eyed mullet bait, burly, rigs fishing parsons beach video handy. it shows a good way to catch mulloway bait... Cheers.
Thank you Steve, mate they are so nice I had mine beer battered and I wished it was like that Tim tam advert and never ran out simply delicious. I was on a roll once and had a bit in the freezer, eating like a king. Cheers.

Thank you Trevor, happy to hear you enjoyed the video. I have never tried the lures for the whiting yet but I am going to sooner or later, I recently bought one of them slippery dogs love the name, so when the time comes I will be having a go at that. thanks for watching matey and good to hear from you again It was a very nice long waited for feed of fish yum.

Great to see you back fishing Dave. We were at the same spot about 3 or 4 days before. Caught a few mullet on cockles and garfish using your gents and berley mix in the floats. I've got to have another crack at catching worms I reckon. I've saved the leftover gents in the fridge for a trip to Kingston week after next.
Thanks Kevin, nice beach that one with lots of fishing to offer. Yes have another crack at the worms frustratingly good fun for beginners but well worth learning. My son in law says f#%@ the worms but I say don't give up ha ha. Always good to hear from you mate.....Cheers
Hi David , only recently discovered your channel and have become a big fan of you been watching your videos every day over last few days. I notice this is one of your last videos you made 2 years ago. Hope all is well with you and would love to see new videos coming up
Hello Sibtain, thank you that is nice to hear. Videoing has become difficult over the last couple of years with work and a couple of other things, i will be getting back into it in the future not sure when but I will be back. Thank you again!
Hi Malcolm thanks mate, there is some good fishing around Victor Harbour, not too far away you will be seeing a video with my grandson Jackson, Simon my son in law and myself doing a bit of fishing down in Victor they live there and its all on there doorstep I'm not too far away, you might enjoy that one also a few more I have planned for down that way. I will get them done slowly but surely all the best mate and good fishing.
I was fishing at Carrickalinga further down the beach the same day for yellowfin whiting but did come up to where you were fishing earlier in the day. Must have just missed you Dave.
Hi mate, it was windy wasn't it, just missed me well I would never have known. Did you have any luck with the whiting with the area you covered I started fishing down that way 1990 and the whiting were every where wherever I caught worms the whiting would show up I'm sure they new the worms would be popping up with the smell of the worm bag they started thinking out about 5 years ago quite sad. Good to hear from you again...Cheers
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 It seems every time I get down that way the wind blows up. I was fishing the other end where you sometimes fish with a couple of lures. Still haven't quite mastered them yet. Will use worms next time in the same spot as I saw some big ones there. Just hope the wind dies off soon. Maybe will meet in our travels sometime down that way. Shaun
@@tizjak07 I went down to that spot for a drive couple of weeks ago and saw a couple too I mentioned that on the video but didn't say where, I will be back there myself soon when time and weather permits, as you have probably noticed there are lots of places worth a cast around that area, 15 mins from where I live as Kyle Minogue would say, I could be so lucky
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 I just hope that the winds stop blowing and we can get some fishing done. Yes not to mention the spot ..Might see you there Dave sometime.
Hi Mike, I think I would be a bit overwhelmed doing something like that, but I do enjoy doing this youtube and sharing and helping with fishing, it also helps me a lot too just keeping me occupied a bit extra in fishing which is great. I have met a handful of people when I have been out and that has been fun. I have been asked this before and would have never imagined it, its a nice gesture Cheers David
Hi David great video, hows life in Oz mate you lucky man, the beach looks bloody good. What a feeling having the whole beach to ones self, good to see you out doing a bit of fishing.Bob
Hi Bob, Life in Oz Hmm you little ripper Awesome we should keep appreciating what we have, that beach is truely beautiful its one of my favourite's with a lot to offer even these days you can go there during the week and have the best part all to yourself. It was nice to get out fishing I do stuff every day to do with my job but this time of the year I get more chances to go fishing so I will really try to get more videos done to watch. Cheers Bob.......David.
What Is everyone's thoughts regarding YFW... So we know there are the Northern Flats YFW... above St Kilda, metro YFW North Haven to Kingston Pk, southern YFW Kingston Pk to Lady Bay.... Are they completely different ? As in breeding stock... I'm thinking yes.. but not sure. Pt Wakefield to Lady Bay seems as long way. Where do the southern fish lay over at winter?
I've always dug the "spaghetti worms" (that's what the old guy who taught me called them due to the markings in the sand. They leave a mark like someone dropped their spaghetti 🤣) along the metro coast. I've always meant to try catching the bung worm because, they are in the area I fish and catch worms. It looks like less work too! I think the yellowfin are down in numbers partially due to the low summer temperatures we've had.
Hi there, them spaghetti worms sound like good worms I have dug other worms but I don't think them one's, thats funny like someone has dropped there spaghetti. Yes have a go for the bungum worms can be a bit tricky at first but I'm sure you will get the hang of it, yep better than digging for sure. hope you are wright about the whiting down this way they have been dropping of for a handful of years now, I did see a couple the other day though, I must go and have another go soon.
G'day Hayden, I let the crabs have it if there are no swimmers around or I take it home and feed it to my maggots, if you don't know I am the guy who breeds the maggots for bait (Sheldon's Bait). I have carp on tap for maggot food. but if I wanted I could pop it back in the freezer and take it worming a second time maybe not a third time though but you can try that they are very good and have a smell that keeps giving. All the best mate
Awesome work as usual mate. Mullet season you say. I seriously have to get down there to get some fresh worms and some mullet and I'd certainly take that bycatch of a flatty anyday. Did you get out after this video and make another video mate?
Hi Darren, yep mullet season is now. Carry beach can be very good for mullet my favourite is parsons, waitpinga is good too they can be found at most beaches with burley, worms are good but not necessary for mullet if you can't get any for whatever reason, mince meat, mullet mince is dynamite also maggots even cockles will work. I use to catch lots infront of the bottom car park at Maslins beach first light also Sellics can be good too and you can drive on there, South Port beach, Christies beach, Osullivans Beach all can be worth a go. No haven't been back out yet but I have done a filleting video I may as well upload. Cheers Darren. Flathead so yummy.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 pretty much all along those south beaches would be the go. Porties, sullies even Carry bit closer for me than Waits and Parsons, but i do like those beaches, can get a bit wild down there. Love the idea of catching my own worms for fresh baits but the chances of that is probably far less than me catching a fish and you know how much luck i have at doing that, haha.
Hi my friend Very nice video And water is so clear. A cool method to catch worms, what is the bait? Meat? And what long worms I have never seen such long ones.
Hi my friend thank you, they are big worms I have caught them 6 feet long the bait is a carp in the green bag like the ones you caught in your last video I did watch and give you a like I shall pop back and leave a comment the bait I am holding is a pilchard in a piece of stocking. good fishing my youtube friend.
Hi Andrew, I just freeze them fresh with no sand or anything in a clean maggot container because I have plenty on hand usually around 8 worms per container. I have a video fishing with frozen worms if you haven't seen just for interest. I have been told by a few fishos if you add a bit of methylated spirits to the live worms for 20 seconds or so that preserves them and they are good for a long time and doesn't bother the fish, I have never tried that yet. If you are going to use the next day I keep them alive placed on a piece of wet hessian sack with a little bit of wet sand sprinkled on them and fold over the bag take home and put in a cool place not the fridge that will kill them that way they stay alive for 2 days and a bit more if you bring home a bit of salt water and keep the bag damp, at the end of my first worming video I show how I do that. All the best Andrew.
Hey Dave?...Do you ever "dispatch" your fish in a way that makes them bleed out? Does this serve to improve the quality of the flesh? Especially for fish like mullet which, when I was catching them on the east coast a millennium ago, had a muddy taste.
I just saw you do what you do to kill the fish where you break the neck. You said that doing that will also bleed the fish. Thanks. I love your videos.👍😊👍
@@jenniferparkinson9411 HI, yes it is always best to bleed your fish for better eating also saves a lot of blood mess at home but just as important so they don't suffer to much, I myself have found mullet to be brackish flavoured or muddy I did go of them once for that reason but now I like them again especially out of the surf even more so out of my smoker they are the best. Thank you for watching Jennifer and you spoil me with your comment.
That is interesting, I have often wondered if these worms are any where else in the world. They are very good fishing bait as you probably know. Do you catch and use them for bait.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 He's absolutely right, senior. We often use it for fishing in the sea or on shallow reefs and right now my friends and I in Indonesia are enjoying ourselves at the port. Coincidentally, there are tuna fish entering the bay and we are already at the pier at 4 am every morning looking for tembang or fish bait. sardens to be used as bait while they are alive and I have had various experiences with bait like rutus or sand worms, they really live in the sand and this is fish for all types of senior fish.

Great to see you out fishing. We are headed over to Victor Harbour on sunday and hopefully I'll get to have a fish, maybe catch a few squid.
Good job sir...strike🙂
Thank you!

Yes not to mention the spot ..Might see you there Dave sometime.
hi Dave, when all the borders and travelling is open again are you going to have any fishing catch ups or clinics for your followers to meet you.
I have been asked this before and would have never imagined it, its a nice gesture
Cheers David
What do you do with the carp when your finished worming? Still good for more sessions?
What do you do to preserve the worms for say the next day or 3 weeks down the track?
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 thankyou so much for the detailed reply
In my area in Indonesia, this caing is called rutus and lives in the sand
