      While I'm not entirely confident that The Acolyte will get a second season, I truly hope that it does! I have enjoyed the entire series so far, and while many have disagreed with me (and more than a few outright flamed me for it, though I can hold my own against them).... I will stand on this hill and am prepared to defend it like the High Ground that it is. ;)

      Friendly reminder that Vernestra most likely wouldn’t know that the Stranger is a Sith, she just knows he’s a dark sider, she didn’t even know he was alive so she wouldn’t know what he’s up to.

      @@EM-fl5od True, but as he said to Sol, "A Jedi like you, might call me..... 'Sith'...." simply because he uses the Dark Side, something forbidden by the Jedi.
      So, technically, it doesn't matter if Qimir considers himself a Sith or not, the Jedi Order would, simply because he's not a "Jedi" (even if, or maybe "especially if") he was once trained as one.
      Remember what Mother Anesai said, "It's about power, and who is allowed to wield it." The Jedi, in their hubris, lump anyone practicing the Dark Side, as "evil", whether they are or not.

    • @EM-fl5od
      @EM-fl5od 3 місяці тому +2

      @@IggyStardust1967 It works the opposite way. The Jedi, because of their hubris, would NEVER think it’s a Sith because they could never believe they failed. They’d never be able to comprehend a power like that being able to rise again and up against them. That’s why Ki-Adi-Mundi and the other Jedi assume the Stranger is from a splinter order and then 100 years later says that the Sith have been extinct despite Qui-Gon telling him he just fought one. The Jedi have a hubris, and that’s what’s keeping them from considering Sith as a factor.

      @@EM-fl5od Fair enough.... but a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. While the Jedi may not actually call them a Sith, they still would consider them a threat. Which was my point to begin with. It doesn't really matter what they call the individual (Sith, Acolyte, Witch..... or whatever). The point is that they are a Force user that isn't under their control, and doesn't adhere to their belief structure.

    As it turns out, Osha and Mae are the same person, split into two. They are kind of like the Yin and Yang of this person. If you notice, during the course of this episode (really over the last several episodes) the Yin starts to slide over to the Yang side, and the two switch personalities. Yang (evil) Mae becomes Yin (good) Mae, and Yin (good) Osha becomes Yang (evil) Osha. To me this was one of the most fascinating and interesting aspects of the entire story line.

    • @IggyStardust1967
      @IggyStardust1967 3 місяці тому +1

      Honest question: What makes you say that Yang is evil, and Yin is good?
      I'm not trolling by asking this. I've been saying this entire series that "Point of view" is the focus of it. "Luke, you're going to learn that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." and "Good is a point of view, Anakin." .... and even tossing in a "real world" idiom, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."
      Qimir, and the coven of witches, wanted only to be left alone. It was the Jedi who decided to play judge, jury, and executioner. This is something that has always been part of the "subtext" of Star Wars, but this is the first time we've seen the spotlight actually shone upon it.
      Something else I've been saying since this series premiered, is that I not only understand it, but I love it, and identify with it because of my own life experiences. So, please, I'm curious in your honest opinion, and I swear I am not trolling you with this comment.

    Qimir's ship only has two seats, so somebody has to stay behind. And yes, this is what Osha was always meant to do. The show tosses out, "Osha is the hero of this story," as a red herring. Mae is empathic, loving and loyal, which is why she is driven to seek justice for her murdered family and kidnapped sister. Osha has always been a selfish asshole during the entire story, it just wasn't as obvious because they kept positioning her as one of the good guys. Here's the explanation for Plagueis appearing in the episode: The reigning Sith lord is Darth Tenebrous, and he has two apprentices in violation of the Rule of Two. His official, "true" apprentice is Darth Plagueis. His unofficial, "false" apprentice carries the Sith name of "Venamis," although he cannot be called "Darth," due to Rule of Two limitations. Venamis decides to rebel and overthrow Tenebrous and Plagueis, and his first step toward this goal is to secure his own apprentice (in other words, Venamis seeks an ACOLYTE,) train them, and then confront the two "true" Sith to overthrow them. Unfortunately for Venamis, Darth Tenebrous is several steps ahead of him, already knowing his plans, partially because he's sent Plagueis to spy on Venamis (which is why we saw Plagueis in the cave.)
    In case this isn't clear, Qimir is "Venamis."

    • @VanArchon
      @VanArchon 3 місяці тому +1

      While this is still speculation, I think you're mostly right. We just can't say for certain whether Qimir's "Sith" name is Venamis or not. I also don't think they're going to go with their master being Tenebrous for a number of reasons. For one the name Tenebrous has been canonically mentioned in the TRoS visual dictionary as the name of a legion of Sith Elites, but there is no canonical association between Tenebrous and Plagueis. For two, Tenebrous and Venamis are both Bith in Legends, and while it's been established in Legends that Bith could speak Basic, it has not been so established in canon. For three, I think this opens the way for David Harewood's character, Senator Rayencourt, to be the secret Sith master, because he was sure giving off some dark side vibes, including his outfit. Beyond the above speculation, I do believe that Qimir and Plagueis are rival apprentices, and I think Plagueis appearance in this episode was the first time he became aware of Qimir.

  • @Cognus1234
    @Cognus1234 3 місяці тому +8

    That was plagueis

  • @VanArchon
    @VanArchon 3 місяці тому +3

    Here are my thoughts. It's been confirmed in interviews that both Qimir is a Sith, and that that was Plagueis. I think Qimir is a rival apprentice to Plagueis under Tenebrous, and up until this point, Plagueis was unaware of Qimir. I think Plagueis happened to be there scouting (or mining) for cortosis and he felt it when Osha tapped into the dark side while wearing Qimir's helmet. It would be risky for him to go 2v1 unless they were Jedi, but he could sense they were not because of the dark side influence surrounding them, so he hung back to observe.

    Qimir's fighting style and his cortosis helmet and gauntlet is designed to fight against the chaotic unpredictability of training/fighting against a Light whip, perhaps??? I think Qimir has purposely crafted himself specifically to be a more formidable match for his former Master. She's also particularly adept at psionic abilities, so Qimir probably also has the helmet to directly counteract her abilities....

    Love you guys and your reactions. It was confirmed by the showrunner that it is indeed Plagueis. She said if they get another season (she's hoping to as it was pitched originally as a multi season arc) that she would delve more into his story. I love where this is going. We will see more about the Sith and the dark side. Sad about Sol, I loved him. So much cool lore and amazing fights in this series. Love it! I agree about the pacing. My biggest complaint is that the show length was too short and they didn't let certain scenes breathe. I hope they listen and fix that moving forward. Seeing my boy Yoda did get me excited too! While Master Sol, Mother Aniseya and Qimir were great, and the action/fight scenes were some of the absolute best in live action SW, a binge re-watch just couldn't change that. It seems pretty clear that Plagueis is the Sith Master, and Qimir is his apprentice. They share an island hideout, the show highlights that there is only 1 landing pad, and if you look at Qimir's ship, there are only 2 seats.
    When Mae was the acolyte, she had no idea that Qimir was actually the Sith Lord who was training her, since he never showed her his face or revealed his real name.
    Between this, training Mae how to kill Jedi, and teaching her some basic Sith philosophy - Qimir was never actually training Mae as a Sith, but grooming her to eventually become a Sith apprentice.
    Now that Osha has replaced Mae as Qimir's acolyte, it seems that moving forward, the next step will be to make Osha his Sith Apprentice. For that to happen, Qimir will have to kill his master, Plagueis.

    In the scene with Aniseya's mother, when Mae was asking for help, we had the opportunity to see some kind of magic where Anaseya was spitting and it also affected Mae.
    Do you think she was trying to teleport Osha.????
    The hyperspace disaster that Indara was talking about in Acolyte episode 7. It was in the book Star Wars High Republic Light of the Jedi & Into the Dark. Where you can learn that all life on some planets was built in this event. Vernestra was alive at that time and because she is more connected to the force and when she travels through hyperspace she tends to have pain/"nausea". You could say that it is something similar to when Darth Nihilus in Star Wars by Republic vacuum cleaners the life from the planets. Better to read it or at least watch some lore video about it.
    You don't think that the fortress has collapsed.
    Due to the fact that the fire damaged the electronics and its gradual overloading and short-circuiting then caused the reactor explosion.
    And the oil burned similarly to the Olympic fire, which in reality burns like this even on a stone.?

    In regards to Christian's pacing issues, i'm wondering if Disney+ chose not to release all episodes at once because paid subscribers could watch them in a day and refund/cancel the subscription without charge as a one-day trial, whereas that wouldn't be possible if episodes are stretched over 8 weeks. I'm not sure how that works. Regarding the 180 million budget of The Acolyte, Andor was much higher at 250 mil. Hopefully Disney will still make a profit after worldwide financial figures come in, no just from the US domestic market. Thank you guys for watching the series with positivity and just having fun, which is all we ask for!

    5:00 - Let me put it this way... if that is NOT Plagueis (the wise), I'll eat my lightsabers.
    5:55 - "The Dark Side of The Force is a pathway to many abilities, SOME consider to be.... unnatural." - Palpatine (Revenge of the Sith).
    6:42 - My ONE nitpick with this show, is that at this point, we know for a fact that Qimir is "The Stranger".... so why didn't the subtitles say "Qimir" rather than "The Stranger"? He literally pulled the helmet off of Osha at the start of the episode, and was carrying it around when they got to the planet. I can see him being referred to as "The Stranger" before the big reveal a couple of episodes ago... but now? Now just seems stupid. But honestly, with THAT being my only real complaint about this series.... I'm a lot happier than everyone who watched it just to look for dumb shit to bitch about.
    7:00 - I quite literally just realized something: Back in Episode II (AotC), Anakin said to Padme, "I'm ready to take the trials. But Obi-Wan thinks I'm 'too unpredictable'..." Which is exactly the same kind of fighting style that Qimir has. Even Sol commented on that, earlier in the series. That he was wildly unpredictable. And yet.... a "Jedi trait" is that "[Jedi] can see things before they happen, which is why [he] (Anakin) appears to have such quick reflexes." (per Qui-Gon Jinn in Episode I). Seeing how these things connect so well, I have a much higher amount of respect for the writers of the story (even if some of the dialogue is clunky at times... But George Lucas was no different... so.... NYAH!).
    7:41 - Roman Reigns is gonna sue somebody. (That's a "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" joke, in case you didn't get it.... Also, speaking of "Star Wars 'Companion movies'".... if you guys haven't seen "Fanboys", I highly, and I mean *HIGHLY* recommend it. George Lucas himself endorsed the move, and helped "green light" it.)
    Also, also, IF you guys haven't seen the "View Askewniverse" movies..... do yourselves a favor, and watch them, and in release order: Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks III. They are all connected, and (minor spoiler) Jay and Silent Bob appear briefly in "Fanboys" but aren't specifically named due to copyright/trademarks.
    8:05 - Both Osha and Mae are spitting facts, here. Both of them have parts of the story, but now they learn the truth from one another.
    9:00 - Yep... Vernestra is arriving, and she's brought enough Jedi to ensure the Jedi don't lose this encounter.
    9:10 - Not gonna lie, I thought that Sol was going to dupe Qimir into smacking his own lightsaber into his helmet, thus shorting it out. But, I was wrong.
    9:40 - Isn't it actually wild how Mae wants Sol to actually "fess up" what he did to the Jedi Council and face the consequences, rather than just face her wrath (like the other 3)? What's even wilder, is that it's OSHA who, upon learning the truth from Sol, is the one that ends up doing what Mae couldn't.... kill a Jedi without using a weapon (other than The Force itself).
    9:55 - Remember what Mother Anasai (however it's spelled) said the night of the fire? "It's about power, and who is ALLOWED to use it." This ties straight into what Qimir said when confronting (or, more accurately, being confronted by) the Jedi..... he just wanted to be "left alone" to use his power, his way, without having to answer to the Jedi. The Jedi Order were, the "guardians" of who was and was not allowed to use The Force. While their intentions could be considered "noble".... it was the fact that they were "state sponsored/approved" to eliminate anyone who used The Force in ways they did not approve of. In some ways, it's like portions of the SW fanbase who "verbally" attack anyone who disagrees with them, while they are the "gatekeepers" of said fandom. Only allowing those they agree with (or, more accurately, agree with them) allowed an approved opinion.
    As has been demonstrated time without number, movies and television shows hold a mirror up to " the current society", which can offer a view at ourselves that sometimes we don't want to see. The original Planet of the Apes movies did this in the late 60s/early 70s. As did many other movies. I'm starting to think that The Acolyte held up a mirror to today's societal climate, and a LOT of people really didn't like what they saw reflecting back at them.... and lost their shit. But hey, the truth CAN hurt, can't it.
    12:00 - Yeah, a lot of people figured out that Qimir was Vernestra's Padawan at some point. But this absolutely confirmed it.
    15:30 - Mae may not remember, but with Vernestra knowing that Qimir is alive.... she is going to be hunting him BIG time. That will likely keep Mae "out of jail/prison". This is one of the many reasons I want to see a season 2.... so we can find out what happens to them all.

    That was 100% Darth Plagueis. OSHA was made by the force no father same as Anakin. So my theory is Plagueis is interested in OSHA the same way he is kid Anakin during the events of the phantom menace. Read the Darth Plagueis book it's very obvious why he is interested in OSHA really it's a nod to that book with Anakin. Plagueis thought he accidentally created Anakin, cause Plagueis can manipulate the force to create life. If Plagueis master is alive which he should be Darth Tenebrous then they for sure know about the chosen one prophecy which is what they're scared of.
    Also Plagueis doesn't really follow the rule of 2 he allowed Palpatine to train Darth Maul before Palpatine killed Plagueis in his sleep
    Makes the most sense to adapt that Plagueis book if this show is really supposed to lead into phantom menace which is what that book is

    Acolyte episode finale was great it wrapped up all the storylines and lived up to what I predicted in the theories. Anyway, I can't wait for Acolite season 2.
    Top 5 of my favorite castle series 1. Acolyte 2. Ahsoka 3. Mandalorian 4. Andor 5. Book of Boba fett
    The whole Acolite show is better than Kenobi and Book of Boba fett combined. They made mistakes and turned these two projects into a show and not a movie.
    Each of the movies are good in their own right, even 8 the last jedi, but that one stupid man was wrong.
    But these movies are still better than the ones below.\/
    Okay, so the best trilogy of Star Wars movies from George Lucas' original era.
    And that: Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure; Ewoks: The Battle for Endor & Star Wars Holiday Special;
    Ewoks: Battle for Endor
    So what are you telling me now?
    This is total crap.
    George Lucas himself wanted the Holiday Special off the face of the earth.
    Acolyte episode finale was great it wrapped up all the storylines and lived up to what I predicted in the theories.
    It was good that they showed us the senator's view of the Jedi order, which I have held all the time since I watched the tragic story of Anakin and all the violence against sensitive individuals, but also the power of worshiping groups and cults that destroyed life.
    Everyone got what they deserved Sol Mae, Osha, Qimir,...
    I'm proud of Basil for helping Mae, Qimir's helmet made great sense since we know how strong his connection to the force is.
    #Hyperspace disaster/ catastrophe and we saw how Vernestra sensed him without her at such a distance.
    And most of all, they could finally see the life action of our beloved Gigachad of the Moon race, Darth Plagueis, man, his rake and his face are so sexy, it's now clear that he had Qimir before Palpatine.
    It would be great if Star Wars Legends saw the Darth Plagueis book in a new form for Canon.
    Anyway, I can't wait for Acolite season 2, I know that they have several series planned to complete the last phase of the High Republic era, because after the books, comics and series Jedi young andventures.
    Acolite and the game Eclipse are probably the last to close this era.
    Well, Andor season 2, Tales of the Jedi & Empire together with the Mandoverse projects will close the Skywalker Saga.
    and then I will gradually move on to Dawn of The Jedi and Jedi New Order.
    And of course the Old Republic era, so far we only have the confirmed Remake of The Knights of the Old Republic with Darth Revan in the main role.
    Heck Yeaaaaah the Disney Star Wars timeline is on a much better path than the Star Wars legends projects were.
    images.app.goo.gl/6xXb8iczBjhxeWmXA
    I'm glad that George Lucas himself didn't like what they did with Luke, for example, because he probably wanted Luke to be a panic until death because he really hated Mara Jade's character.
    Acolyte all-flashback episode 7 was very good.
    I liked the references to the hyperspace catastrophe that wiped out life on some planets; of which in the last episode Jedi master Vernestra has pain/nausea from traveling through hyperspace due to her strong connection to the force.
    The fact that Sol was an emotional Jedi like Dooku, Anakin and Quigon Jinn was seen in quite a big way.
    The turn of the plot, who is responsible for the death of the entire Clan of these Witches who follow the path of Bogan = Darkness in magic, they were quite similar to the Witches of the Sisterhood of the Night from Dathomir, where Darth Maul also comes from.
    The fights were great, the choreography was great and seeing two Jedi fight against a possessed Wookie Jedi was great.
    But most of all, normally, just like Mother Cora, I felt this emotional pain in my heart. When Sol killed her partner, co-mother of two children and the love of her life, mother Aniseya, in front of her eyes.
    The destruction reminded me of something similar to when the Jedi destroyed the entire planet of Korriban, where the original Sith race came from.

    In many ways, I am a critic of many fantasy/sci-fi, comic=superheroes,... cinema graphic projects, book games or music materials.
    Like some MCU series shouldn't copy their comic book adaptation #She-hulk & Ms Marvel was weaker but I liked it, I liked both Capitan Marvel movies my favorite feminist retrained by the racist Kree race;
    DC movies and series speak for themselves, what quality are #??Justice League, Batman and Robin, Blue battle, Suicide squad 1??
    The problem with Star Wars is that many directors/screenwriters/actors, for whom SW projects were made, will not be there in the end.
    #Rouge Squadrons, series Rangers of the New Republic where Gina Carano was supposed to be; movie by Taika Waititi, Kevin Feige; trilogy by Rian Johnson,...
    Projects like Book of Boba fett and Kenobi were originally supposed to be movies, there was even supposed to be a sequel to the Solo movie with Darth Maul.
    But it is necessary to show people, especially from the Toxic SW community, where their place is.
    The toxic community of Star Wars fans drove the same Jar Jar Binks almost to suicide, luckily he didn't, and then we could see him in Jedi Challenge and Mandalorian season 3.
    Due to the fact that mentally he could no longer handle this toxicity.
    The actor who played the young Anakin, Jake Lloyd, also had to drop out of school because they were poisonous to him and psychologically and emotionally destroyed his entire life that was just beginning.
    And after the prequel trilogies, George Lucas couldn't do it alone any more and decided to be with his family instead. Fans constantly told him, wrote and threatened him that he himself literally does not know how to make Star Wars.
    It was you! This community that hates Toxic Star Wars, who forced him to sell the rights to Disney.
    I talked.
    And for anyone who doesn't like the 7,8,9 trilogy, I will reveal that there are three other worst movies that should never have been made, Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage: The Ewok Adventure, and Ewoks: Battle of Endor.
    So I will tell you that the new trilogy turned out much better than it seems, but that's my opinion anyway, we know that everything will work out in time. And the films themselves are good.
    Because Star Wars is our childhood, our adolescence, our love, our feelings, our life forever.

    I honestly really enjoyed this show despite some of the flaws it had. Here’s hoping it will get renewed for a second, because I’d love to see more of Yoda and find out if that really was Plagueis

    Garbage show. I appreciate how reactors are pressured and sometimes pigeon-holed to think this is a great show, but just pretend it did not piggyback off the IP of Star Wars.. just pretend.. and you'll realize what a train wreck this is. It was a personal 'check the box' pet project, nothing more. It insults and alienates from what Star Wars really is. If you think this is a great show.. then you're just a DEI shill.
