I have been waiting all my life for this moment. My feet will never feel the Earth again. I feel no sorrow. I am flying. Rest in peace, Harold. Your music is, was, and will be, my wings.
I don't know why but the first feeling that came to mind when I heard this was being in kindergarten at recess or maybe it was gym class in Fort Drum New York..I was rolling down hills and we were all exploring through the woods. I don't remember if it was cold or warm out but it was sunny and dreamy. I never spoke to anyone really; I was a painfully quiet child so I don't remember having fun with anyone. But it was a fun time being myself as a youth those times. Being an adult now alone and looking back to when I was as alone as I could be as a 5 year old. Carefree adventuring..means something entirely different to me now that I can't fully articulate. This song nearly brought me to tears because even though I may not ever get to relive them I can listen to the things that can bring me back. Close enough ⭐🌻💫💙
I just like to say how much you have been part of my life since 1988 when I walked into a record store in Kansas City mo and bought the white arcades just because of the cover not knowing what was in side and thru my journeys of ups and downs I still have a place in my heart for Harold budd and I still have the Original cassette case and tape even now as the world is reaching its end we have fond memories of this gift of talent , there are really no words to describe his touching music ❤
Absolutely beautiful and a calmness that makes me leave the hustle and bustle of everyday to a quite calmness. Thank goodness for the piano … a certain independence we all desire
thank you so much for uploading this. this song (as heard on this youtube video) has literally changed my life and seen me through the best and worst times.
departure brought you into perspective, i keep having moments where i seem to finally realize you exist. and think of what ccould not but could be if. those moments only make the feeling worse. mmore gut wrenching than ever. i keep googling your name and your martyr father pictures show up instead, leaving me sad, guilty and in shame. wherever youre, the thought of you still makes me happy.
+David Daniel Me too,if i had only one song for a desert island disc it would have to be this ,those chord changes.it would haunt me forever if i chose something else.
I'm the five hundred, fifty-fifth like!! yaaaaay!! but "like" isn't quite the right word... I LOOOOVE the music of harold budd!! rest in peace, maestro..... & fly with the angels...
Sounds like the memories of riding a bike through a beautiful north Italian landscape. The memories make it so it was a really nice and easy experience, but in reality it was kind of exhausting.
Where is the 'like 1,000 times' button? This is one of the greatest Budd pieces I've ever heard! And I don't think I've ever heard any of his work performed on solo piano. I'm hearing shades of Debussy here, and so much else that I will have to listen to it endlessly to hear it all. Thank you so much for posting this!
+Dirk Diggler Totally agree this is sublime ,there is a solo piano album called Perhaps but alot of it is more sombre and the La bella vista album is also solo on a steinway .but this is still the best.
+Dirk Diggler I forgot the Akira rabelais album called The little glass which is virtually solo budd on the first disc and the most evocative ,nostalgic, haunting, subtle experimental reworking of fragments of the solo budd pieces its really superb. you can hear it on the Akiras bandcamp page.
This song is actually called “The Kiss” by Harold Budd. I think this is a live version but I’m not sure if it is called “Agua”. The Kiss sounds almost similar but sounds like a studio version without the background noise.
It sounds like his own “ Variations on a theme from ‘The Kiss’,” type arrangement I was thrilled to see his music used as the soundtrack for HBO’s Emmy winning adaptation of “I Know This Much is True,” by Wally Lamb. There will never be another Harold Budd. Ever.
Anyone here a fan of Leo Svirsky? I think his album River Without Banks is undeniably influenced by Budd,, a lot of people here would probably enjoy it.
this is beautiful and im so sorry to learn Mr Budd died so recently. Theonly album i ever had was his plateaux of mirrors with ENO. I recently bought the pavillion of dreams. This really is a wonderful piece of work too. Its wonderful that in the modern world and being 5O, there is still so much music ripe for discovery.
@@floatingcalmrelaxationmedi1917 cool thanks for the recommendation. As i said i ony have the ambietn and pavillion of dreams. ive just learned the album from 1995 is like golddust, will deffo give luxa a try, thanks :}
I recommend listening The Pearl (1984) with Brian Eno: one of the perfect balance between Budd's melodies and Eno's ambient: a peacefull masterpiece! (and one year later another thinking masterwork by Eno: Thursday Afternoon).
@@marcobello5666 THe Pearl is one of the few Eno Albums i dont have, thanks for the recommendation. Though I first bought music for films and Before and after science in about 1990. i only recently discovered after the heat with cluster. A real creative peak for Eno , the late seventies. Also found a copy of this Harold Budd album and it really is beautifull.
I have recently discovered “Avalon Sutra,” and it contains a 69 minute track, ‘As Ling As I Can Hold My Breath.’ Truly one of the most hauntingly beautiful tracks I’ve ever heard of his. The whole album is exquisite. Check it out. I doubt that you’ll be disappointed.
mai sentito harold … ora so che esiste … grazie rafael … una melodia rilassante da voli pindarici … dolcissimo il tocco … io fan di sakamoto ma lui non da meno👍🏻
Harold is sorely missed.....Harold wasn't interested in playing as fast as possible, impressing with flashy physical execution of lines....he had ZERO connection to EGO. He was only interested in beauty.
The fact that you actually brought up the idea of flashy fast skills just means that you actually find this to be a flaw in harold budds work personally yourself. That’s a you problem. Meanwhile the rest of us are over here just enjoying the music without feeling the need to bring anything external into it. Now THATS ego
I think they are both beautiful. Maybe that of Ravel, is more precise. More watery. This has more density. This resembles the piano work of Jhon Cage...Landscape and Dream.
I just discovered Maurice Ravel's "Miroirs M.43: lll. Une barque sur l'ocean" and it reminded me of this beauty :)
What do you guys think?
I hear it. Agua feels heavier, more melancholy.
The other way around perhaps?
Thanks for sharing
for me it was Debussy's "beau soir"
yes
I miss you. Deep breaths and eyes closed.
This guy and his piano mesmerized me.
I listen to this song every day, 5 times or more...
Harold Montgomory Budd (May 24, 1936 - December 8, 2020)
😢
shit, I didn't know he died. I was hoping to see him live after the pandemic...
Called "Aqua" because even your heart has tears squeezing out of it, nevermind your eyes. Heartbreaking in the most beautiful way.
I have been waiting all my life for this moment. My feet will never feel the Earth again.
I feel no sorrow.
I am flying.
Rest in peace, Harold. Your music is, was, and will be, my wings.
Fantástico! Fabuloso! Maravilhosamente composto!

RIP Harold Budd.

This melody can only be described as EXTRAORDINARY... a unique masterpiece.
R.I.P. Harold Budd, thanks a lot for your music legacy.
Always in awe of how he can transform a piano into a soundscape, feelings, memories and imagination. Hard to believe it's live, it sounds so full
what a great comment
Couldn’t have said it better, myself ❤
Marvelous words
The fact that it's live blows my fucking mind

This is absolutely gorgeous ~ going to listen to this tonight while I sit outside and watch the blood eclipse ~~~~~~~~~~
Goodbye, master.
Like water, I need this multiple times every day.
Pure sonic piano genius 🖖🏻🤘🏿
His face be like: "I am rapidly approaching your location"
it is magical indeed, and the fact is played live makes it more
Descanse en paz maestro. Y gracias por todo. Gracias
So many layers and levels to this composition. Must be listened to a few times to fully appreciate but well worth the time invested.

Rest In Peace, dear Harold Budd. Unforgettable.
When it transitions into a slower piano piece into a cascade... it hits me.
Agreed.
I literally just found your channel like a month ago, and then this? You've got good taste, my friend.
This song amazes me every time. So many beautiful aspects to it.

+stuart grant me as well. I could sit there on that island forever as long as I had that and an instrument

One of the best pieces I have heard from him. Thanks for this.
music is beautiful. it makes me feel something words and actions absolutely cannot

Beautiful solitary music.
A meditation.
Exactly 💯
I can hear similar melodies to whats played on Pavillions. This man is a genius and will forever remain my inspiration.

I think that dislikes should have to be accompanied with an explanation.
You're giving them a lot of credit by assuming they're intelligent enough to articulate why they don't like it.
Ignorance
In about 7 years of yt I've probably given 10-15 LIKES.i just don't.
Dislikes are verboten now by the UA-cam nazis
No, they really don't.

It sounds like his song "The Kiss"

Reminds me of Ravel's Mirror's Definitely, but newer the less beautiful
Obviously inspired by Clair De Lune - Debussy

Well, don't copy incorrectly anyway.
