I remember bringing a stack of books on holiday intending to leave them after I read them. I had to bring His Bloody Project home with me because it was so good. Can’t wait to read this one!
Hahaha damn he got me too! I went into it totally blind though so I cut myself some slack 😁 I want to make my book club read this just to f them up a bit
I won’t watch this video yet as case studies has just arrived on my reserved shelf at the library but looking forward to coming back and watching your review once I’ve read it 😀
I admit I resorted to Google after a few pages but even so I was second guessing everything. The final scene was brilliant as identities merged. I’ve never read him before but will go to his backlist.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this book! I loved it. I thought the narrator/Rebecca were tremendous fun to read. The male authors who whinge that they can't write female characters any more need this book throwing at them. The novel raises questions about who we are and what madness is in a beautiful, light touch way, examining them from different angles. I thought it nailed 20th century English culture, and being a woman in that world - like how older people will talk endlessly about 'whores' as though that's an objectively evil thing. The trauma of war also comes up a few times. I also love the winking glee with which it embraces its time period.
Geez, I have to reread His Bloody Project and read the others. So fun to watch your reviews!
This book was so trippy in how much he messes with you in things that appear to be real- GMB, the psychologist, etc.

Great review, now I really want to read it. It wasn't at the top of my longlist but it has moved up.

Excited to hear your views! Are you going to be doing individual videos on each book like Trust?
@@KDbooks I think I will simply because I'll slowly be reading them as they come in on my library reservations hahaha

I loved His Bloody Project and the Disappearance of Adele Bedeau was great, so I need to get to this soon!
💯

Ok, you convinced me, I will try it

He got you 😂 I remember when I read it I spent a fair amount of time online trying to figure out whether he was real or not
@1:14 “…something I could orally listen to…”
Obviously I have much to learn about basic Welsh anatomy.
Ohhh sorrrrrry OW-RALLY - is that better? I used OWdible as well to listen to books if that helps
Sort of better, altho if you correct orally to aurally it’s still redundant, as “aurally listen to” is a tautology of “listen to”?
I hope this helps you sleep better at night
I love how you say his name
I did not put 2 and 2 together that this is the author of His Bloody Project... My copy should be in for me tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy it ♥️
It’s time. Got my cup of tea 😹
😂😂😂😂
I hope it’s been worth it
I love it when a book is so well done that you fall into the trap even though you know the trap is coming.
I hate this author in the best way 😂
@@KDbooks That is amazing.
You are zooming through these books!
I had a week off and zero social life 😂
This book sounds so fun and nuanced for a piece of 'autofiction.'
I hope Madame Gemma Rose comes back for Booker btw
@@KDbooks Maybe next yr if she's excited for any books coming out 🤗
Ahhh alright I’ll read it
Get in!
With a Y! Haha yeah you thought Braithwaite was real. That’s great. I’ll have to read more by him. Loved that ending.
I hope you love His Bloody Project!
