This is stunning, so moving and poignant. Don McLean, 78 years old and still singing beautifully, like a man half his age, what a complete legend! And who better than Home Free to do justice to this wonderful song? A real work of art! Rob’s beautiful singing brought a tear to my eye, he could have sung the lead throughout and would absolutely have done a wonderful job. I truly believe that Vincent Van Gogh would have approved of this tribute to his life!

Such a great song by Don McLean! What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.

The first time I heard this song was early in 1972, I had recently returned from Vietnam and was finally discharged from the Army at Christmas 1971. My sister bought tickets to a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York as a Christmas and welcome home present when there wasn't much in the way of welcome. Amazing concert, I became a huge fan of Don McLean and this song is my favorite. What a great collaboration - Don McLean and Home Free. Nice job guys

I can totally understand what you said. Problem is… a person could just have one day - one bad incident - to make them feel like they messed up so bad that they feel suicide is the only answer. I speak as the mother of a son who tried that route because he decided to go out with a fellow student one night and they were throwing rocks. My son had just turned 18, was weeks away from graduating and going into the Service. The kids got into trouble, when my son came home, he took a shotgun and shot himself - I was in the room…. I couldn’t figure out what he was doing in the closet until I heard the first “click”. I remember yelling at him to not do it, but it was too late. I couldn’t open the closet to get to him & when I called 911, he spoke saying he was alive. The surgeons worked on him for hours that night. He spent a couple of months in the hospital. I remember one “doctor” who kept trying to tell us he was depressed and needed to be sent away. He fought with her and kept saying it was that one time because he felt he totally messed up and wouldn’t be able to get in the Service as he had planned for years (my husband is retired military & our son wanted to do his part). His Recruiter told me he would not have had any problems - he knew my son very well, but…… Today….. over 20 years later, he is totally blind, has no nose (tried a prosthetic, but he was allergic to the glue), he has no upper palate, and relies on a trache. When he was first released, the docs had a feeding tube inserted & he was on a liquid diet. The tube kept coming out because he was moving around too much. Drs thought he’d never be able to eat solid food again, he fooled them there, too! He takes boxing lessons from a great trainer (he is a professional in FL), and he is about a year away from finishing Law School. That night over 20 years, he told me he felt an angel with him and it was the angel who helped move the shotgun. So…… DEPRESSION IS REAL, but there ARE those, like my son, who just had ONE THING, ONE DAY cause the depression which no one was prepared for. Believe me when I say, my other children were quite traumatized, and one had the hardest time visiting my mom in the hospital when she was dying a year later. They others are married and have children of their own now - they know what happened and love spending time and talking with their Uncle (oh, yes - the doctors all thought he’d never be able to talk again - like eating FOOD, he fooled them all - something they admitted surprised them but really made them rethink everything they thought they knew). It only takes one thing to make a person snap. I am grateful that he did not succeed all those years ago……. J

A huge statement has been reinforced numerous times over the last half dozen years when notorious artists have collaborated with Home Free in singing legacy hits and in several cases have reached out to Home Free. Home Free has shown extraordinary respect to these artists to the point there is mutual respect and admiration that is very visible both ways. Home Free is a very humble group of guys who know how to pay their respects as they showcase these well-respected and well-known artists. Just wow, and we are the benefactors of this wonderful trust as they deliberately give each other and us a chance to enjoy once again a freshness to the decades that gone on before us with a wonderful tribute. Home Free is showing the industry a strong core value of High Regard, Strong Consideration, Attentiveness, High Opinion, and Due Regard for those who have set the stage for the music we enjoy today.

Vincent was my favorite artist. At some point I learned of his "challenges" and the love that his brother Theo had for him. Theo knew that even tho he only sold one painting in his lifetime that he was great beyond the understanding in the art community at that time so he kept him supplied with supplies and a meager livelihood. The bond was so great that after Vincent died, Theo followed him just a few months later. Don did a great job with the writing of this song, and to hear him with these guys just puts the cherry on the pie!

Don McLean doesn't write lyrics, he puts poetry to music. This was just beautiful and Mr. McLean still sounds wonderful! Rob was the perfect voice to complement Don's & when he & Austin sang together it was fantastic. I sincerely hope that a copy of the picture in which you're all literally absorbed is included soon in the merchandise. I've always loved the original recording of this song by Don McLean and, while it greatly moved me to tears, this version with Don McLean singing along with Home Free had me sobbing like a newborn child. I also enjoyed the collaboration between Don McLean and Home Free on his song, "American Pie." I thought that was the pinnacle of great harmony until I heard this rendition of "Vincent." There are no words to adequately express or describe the wonderful results of this collaboration. There are hundreds of songs I wish Home Free would perform, but to perform Don McLean's two hits with Don himself is simply amazing! As much as I love the originals, in my opinion, McLean sings better now, fifty years later, and these wonderfully recorded videos of both "American Pie" and "Vincent" prove it to me. Long live Don McLean...Long live Home Free!
