Yeah, Gray always brought something super unique to Torchwood. His delivery was so special that I actually got excited every time he was about to speak because I just had to hear what came out of his mouth next. Not many characters in any show I can say that about.

There's having a mystery, and then there's just not explaining your power system. Imagine if JoJo Part 3 didn't explain Stands until episode 8, and people were just running around with psychic punching ghosts, and nobody ever acknowledged it. That's basically what RWBY did.
Either way semblances are basically quirks from MHA to put it simply but i agree until volume 2 we see that each character has different powers and it just confuses you

Then Pyrrha reveals Aura and defines most of the details surrounding it. She didn’t mention that they have an ability called a semblance, but based on everything she mentions, it insinuates that our characters have some form of superpowers. All of this is concluded in about 40 minutes which is like 2 episodes of a standard anime episode length. So for me personally, I don’t find it that strange, but to each their own.

I’m in love, it’s capturing that original magic of Rwby all over again and adding to it by expanding on the ties between man and grim, deviating from the main timeline to do its own thing but utilizing the lore to create stuff that makes sense to happen in the show. The fight choreography and animation is pure magic compounding that feeling, I can’t wait for more seasons

@@brandonchaney9151 those are small potatoes, the feeling and ambiance is still there and the dialogue isn’t a complete repeat, they refined quite a bit of what was going on. Rubies interaction with that crook still plays out humorously while keeping the pace and tone of the fight nice and action pact. The feel is the same, the characters consistent, and any little bits that were not included are just little cues that lead into the next line.

Tbh its nice seeing ruby in a new light but its very disappointing as a long term fan whose been around since the beginning seeing them cut corners just to add extra story but leave out or hold back the most important parts that made ruby Monty Oums masterpiece.

i do hope this series gives torchwick an opportunity to be more explored. He was kinda a underused and undervalued villain who was just nonchalantly pushed to the side without really being his own thing, always just a tool to another force. I think he deserves a chance to be a proper villain in his own right
I understand why the replaced Torchwick's original voice actor but I'm not going to lie, he's just not the same. Torchwick's VA was the best on the entire show, the mere delivery of his lines elevated Torchwick from a one note villain into someone who stole the scene every time he was on screen.
It just goes to show you how brilliant Monty Oum was. Even all these years later, with more animators and a higher animation budget, his original fight scenes were still LEAGUES better. Props on the Japanese animators for trying, but Monty Oum was a legend for a reason.

He couldn't of seen her when she was standing by the magazines and when she's moving like that you can't really tell what she looks like at all, or if she is even human. Even if he asked the question after she got out the window, she is fast enough to of done so, he hadn't turned his head enough to see her.

While I never met Monty Oum personally, I was fascinated to discover that he and I share the same birthday; day, month and year. His dream was to create his own anime. He succeeded so greatly that now it really does have a Japan produced show in its likeness. I wish he could’ve seen it.

0:59 to 1:03: in the span of four seconds, we know that Semblances are magical powers, there's a lot of them among Beacon Academy Students, and they're cool as hell. Hbomberguy would be THRILLED.
I am so glad they used the original cast, if they had used other English VAs this show would have seemed more like a fanfic than an extension of the RWBY.
I like the smoother and detailed weapon transformation--as someone that is mildly mechanically inclined, it just looks kinda nice. I would like it to be shown faster in future shots--this one to learn the ropes if you will, but in actual combat we can't have a 5 second transformation. Unfortunately, this still doesn't quite answer exactly how the barrel extension works. They might have chosen to just hand wave it as it might not actually work as imagined (or they are not even thinking about it). I don't really like the smoother combat. Somehow it doesn't feel quite as impactful. The hits I mean. Over the top ragdoll have its charms. But this is a preference thing, this is more... real if you will.
Man this loses all the energy of the original. The first line we hear Ruby say in the original is "...are you robbing me?" and it's been changed here. This also misses the follow up. "...are you robbing me?" "Yes!" "Ohhhhhhhhhh..." and then he gets wallopped.
Maybe I shouldn't have tried watching this in the middle of a full series binge...This scene without "This Will Be the Day" just felt so wrong. A big part of what made early RWBY so special was the music.
Torchwick (Orange hair) was so much more cutthroat in the original. He didn't use a smoke bomb, he fired a mini dust RPG at her that she had to dodge and that tore up the pavement beneath her. He didn't wake up and choose violence. He woke up and chose murder.
Comparing with the original. It does seem like this one is better animated. And Ruby's personality shines through too. In the original, it seemed more like she was too excited to fight the thugs. "Are you robbing me?" Sounds different. In the original, it sounded to me like a threat. Which should have clued the thug in. Not to mention, the thugs seem less incompetent too.

Maybe I shouldn't have tried watching this in the middle of a full series binge...This scene without "This Will Be the Day" just felt so wrong. A big part of what made early RWBY so special was the music.
Torchwick (Orange hair) was so much more cutthroat in the original. He didn't use a smoke bomb, he fired a mini dust RPG at her that she had to dodge and that tore up the pavement beneath her. He didn't wake up and choose violence. He woke up and chose murder.

Why is that the most realistic sounding weapon (the scythe) I've heard from anime all year?
Comparing with the original. It does seem like this one is better animated. And Ruby's personality shines through too. In the original, it seemed more like she was too excited to fight the thugs. "Are you robbing me?" Sounds different. In the original, it sounded to me like a threat. Which should have clued the thug in. Not to mention, the thugs seem less incompetent too.
I should've figured Lindsay was still going to voice Ruby but I'm still kinda surprised to hear her
