The fact that Emma showed up at The Crown Season 6 red carpet premiere to support Elizabeth Debicki's portrayal of Diana one last time really shows how amazing Emma really is as an actor and as a good friend to Debicki 🤗
@@samgreen1241 sorry, Kristen doesn't match Emma and Elizabeth as Diana. She looked more like a model in Chanel commercial, than acting a real person
@@samgreen1241Its hard for me to say who does Diana better because they all seem to portray different facets of the woman perfectly. But I will say Spencer is perhaps the best tribute film to diana we could ever hope for and Kristen does the script justice.
This might be the best interview in the history of this series. I don't think there's been another time where two actors have played the same person/character and have shared their experiences about it. Amazing pairing!
It makes you realise just how brilliant Casting Directors are. Looking at these two accomplished actors, neither immediately scream “Diana.” But they both completely inhabited Diana. It takes amazing skill from the actors, of course. But also an incredible skill from casting to spot the potential. Bravo The Crown!
There were castings in this show which were close to perfect like both Dianas. But others who were a total miss, like all 3 Queen Mums. Or Dominik West as Charles. I also never liked Olivia Coleman as Queen. I can see Claire Foy and Imelda Staunton are playing the same character. Seeing all 3 together in finale felt weird because of it. I wasn't a fan of the concept of recasts every 2 seasons. For example S03 starts just a few months after S02 but everyone looked as if we moved decades.
@@xanderrobin1 I always thought they would have done better if Olivia and Helena had switched roles. Both are great actresses, but Olivia looks more like Vanessa and Helena more like Claire. The transition would have been smoother.
@@LauraTheFanGirl No she has not win an Emmy yet. So far The Crown actors who won an Emmy for that show were Claire Foy, John Lithgow, Olivia Colman, Gillian Anderson, and Josh O'Connor. I think you got mistaken with Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG in which she won those but for Emmy? No she hasn't, Season 6 is eligible for this year's Emmy with the ceremony being held in September
I feel like there should have been a special series where the actors who played the same characters in The Crown interview each other. It is such a specific dynamic to be able to talk to someone who played the same character as you, and a character based on a person who existed, no less.
Both played Diana with a tragic yet beautiful heartbreak but brought different things to the role. I absolutely think this is one of the best Actors on Actors pairings.
I really hope Elizabeth Debicki finally wins her Emmy for The Crown Season 6. I wasn't a huge fan of the final season (i liked it tho, just didn't reach the heights of the four seasons from the beginning so it wasn't as good as the previous ones, well maybe better than season 5 imo) but Elizabeth Debicki was perfection as Diana and the best part of the entire season so i really hope she wins that trophy. She's getting close tho following her win at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG, hopefully the Emmy follows that pattern. She deserves it! 🤗
No wonder these two played Princess Diana so perfectly in different age and era. They did their own research in preparation and spoke how amazing Diana is as a person and how powerful she is to the world, The Crown just wouldn't be the same without them as Diana. Each season that they're in, half of it were carried by their own performance as Diana. A challenge that they succeed it, what a phenomenal performance from two talented actors. They didn't just play Diana, they became Diana 🙌😊
Corrin's portrayal was when Diana being herself, meanwhile Debicki's portrayal was when Diana became a princess so I think it's two unique take that both pulled off flawlessly
This is a fantastic pairing. Both of them were in The Crown in different seasons playing the same character while also giving Emma an opportunity to talk about their experience making "A Murder At The End Of The World". A series that i didn't know what to expect, i didn't watch any of the trailers or any interviews, i was just curious to see what is it about and ended up finding one of the best series of 2023. Emma was phenomenal in that series 🙌
yes! so many people, including me, has been saying before she was even casted that she would do good as diana since there were noticeable mannerisms of hers that were similar to diana's. one of which was the head tilt, she had it at one of her interviews in the past. but now that she has acted as diana, the mannerisms are more pronounced. maybe due to her still not getting out of character, i think even her voice hasn't got back completely.
They are both brilliant as the younger Diana and the matured Diana. And look how beautiful & fresh looking these ladies are... Absolutely flawless glass skin. Love their simple but elegant style.
Great actresses! I was so impressed by Elizabeth Debicki as Diana. She's fabulous. Overall, both of them played Diana beautifully. Her story is so heartbreaking. I loved theirs bits on The Crown. Thank you, Variety! This was much needed! Brilliant!
Spot-on. Perfect pairing. If Kristen Stewart captured Diana's Id, these two absolutely caught her Essence. Marvelous colloquy, marvelous actors. Thank you, Variety.
I manifested this months ago that they will be paired for Actors on Actors (and it helps that Emma also did a TV series vying for Emmy consideration). Thank you Variety for making this dream come true! ❤
I first saw Elizabeth Debicki in The Night Manager and fell in love. At the time I have this feeling that she just embodied someone else… and when I saw that she had been chosen to play Diana, it all made sense. She was absolutely incredible. I feel so emotional watching it and remembering Diana at that time ❤
It's so amazing how they both managed to show a Diana in all stages of her life in such a unique and special way, that's what acting and talent is all about... learn from them Kim K.
Both of these actors are exquisite (I have a feeling Elizabeth auditioned for Jackie Kennedy based on her little tidbits) and they brought so much in their own ways 💜💜
I loooooved this and love both actresses, but I wish Emma could've passed the torch and asked Elizabeth more questions about herself. It seemed to be skewed towards Emma.
I have NO doubt Diana would be so proud and happy that these two extraordinary woman played her life story! If anyone is still watching from above, its Princess Diana! ❤
Finally watched this just in time for Emmy nominations and they were both amazing. I think this is the first one in this season where the two actors actually talk about their craft and lay their case so to speak. Good luck to both of them 👑
I’m guessing Elizabeth went in for Jackie Kennedy? I can’t imagine who else it would have been…very considerate of her to spare the other actress the inevitable onslaught of comparisons that would be made if people knew.
"Outrageous... frankly it's disgusting that you should be so good." That's my kind of compliment. Loved that and the delivery was **chef's kiss** as well. 🥹😂
Elizabeth needs to be in a film with Joely Richardson. They look so similar. Seeing these two actors speaking about the same role is so fascinating. Would've loved to have Kristen Stewart in there speaking about all three performances of Diana. Both actors are going to get better and better in the future.
Elizabeth and Emma did wonderful performances in their interpretations of Princess Diana on the different ages of her premature life. But on my perspective Emma's performance was my favorite one, she definitely nailed and transmitted all the feelings in the situations Diana was passing through her younger age and during the process of her marriage. Also I think that Elizabeth and Emma could pretend to be sisters, since they both have a certain chemistry or connection when they are together, I don't know if it's just me but I see it that way. I hope one day to see these wonderful young women, working on some other project, whether it be a movie or a series.
I really loved Emma's teen detective role ,Darby in a Murder at the End of the World. Can't wait to see them doing Villain Cassandra Nova in the upcoming DP & Wolverine.
Variety, I want a spin-off of Actors on Actors where people who have played the same character talk. Like Winona Ryder and Saoirse Ronan (Jo March), etc!
At the beginning where they are discussing auditioning for different roles, I believe Debicki may have auditioned for Jackie Kennedy in Season 2. She mentions it was a passing 1-2 episode character who was major for those episodes, it wasn’t an English role, it was Season 2, and she didn’t have a physical resemblance. Makes you wonder (if it was indeed the Kennedy role she auditioned for) how different the series may have been if she’d been picked for Kennedy and not for Diana, which was an incredible performance.
My one guess and I will stand by this opinion is that Elizabeth Debicki auditioned for Jackie Kennedy. When she said it’s a small role in season 2, there is no other character I could think of that matches Elizabeth’s stature and charisma as Jackie Kennedy
So visually interesting these two! Elizabeth player Princess Diana in The Crown, which ive never seen!
