I never said that revving it up to 180 was easy, hence the disclaimer "assuming you're fairly good at the game of golf." Playing the modern game requires a bit more oomph with the driver now, and what I've seen with junior golfers is making 180 MPH of ballspeed seem VERY regular now. Besides, no one said that the 180 MPH of ballspeed would be going in the direction that you want...
Jason is the 'main man' in longdrive history. He's suffered just about every imaginable sports injury several times over through his high performance work outs! A competition driver gives absolutely no edge over any other golf driver. It is simply more matched to a powerful swinger. It is principally the athlete which creates the output. Interestingly this video depicts very little shaft 'kick' suggesting that it is a tip cropped 'UST V2 LD-4.' With a high energy return multi-segment shaft (which I used on my only UA-cam video) Jason would arguably be significantly longer. Be that as it may Jason will always be the guy I most respect and admire.
@AlexOseph THe glass wasnt used to measure the speed. They are using a radar for that. The glass is for a dramatic effect. They could bore the audience by going into the exact science but its likely they simplified it so that it was true at a basic level
According to this show, you can hit a golf ball farther if you used the Happy Gilmore driving technique. Maybe they should've seen how hard Zuback could hit one if he did his best Happy Gilmore impression.
They told us the exact speed of the first two, so why did they estimate the third? Maybe because it was less than 200 due to the glass being weakened from the first two attempts?
There are at least 100 guys that go over 200 mph - no problem, they can be found at the REMAX WLDC in Mesquite, NV. I'd say that most tour pros are fairly good at the game of golf, and there are about 3 or 4 that get it over 180 mph. Tiger is about 185 mph.
Tis' the fastest ball sport as long as you don't view or include paintball and bb gun fights (which can be safe enough with proper protection to not inflict too much permanent(ish) damage).
This is far from scientific. Somehow I find it hard to believe that the tempered glass breaks at exactly 100 m/h and that it reduces the speed of the ball at exactly 50 percent. The real numbers are probably not so "pretty". Also the breaking speed is probably determent by the ball (not 100m/h for all balls), and the percentage of speed drop is not same for different speeds.
Jai-alai is still the fastest ball game. Golfers hit a stationary ball. Then they don't see the ball again until it has stopped! Jai-alai players have that rock hard ball coming at them and they have to catch it! Baseball players have to hit 100mph pitches, but the ball is not nearly as dangerous and the speed not as high. Tennis players have to return 150mph serves, but the ball is soft. Jai-alai players routinely have to catch rock-hard balls moving 150+mph AND return the ball in one motion.
Jeff Payton Jamie is the total package. Perfect swing...insane speeds. What's crazy about Jason is his backswing. He doesn't break his wrist and he's real stiff. Exact opposite of Jamie. Horrible looking mechanics when compared to Jamie's swing. Jamie maximizes everything with perfect technique.
the fastest ball is thrown by the ancient sport slinging . it hits speeds up to 190 to 200 mph . and iff used by real trained acrobat proffesionals like i assume the inca's where because they killed a horse and broke swords in 2 pieces with it. they used 2m plus handslings and used a acrobatic jump to increase velocity.
imagen him slinging he would even hit harder. remember the inca's killed horses and broke swords in 2 with huge slings that they used of around 2 meter. they probably used a jumping twisting technique to maximize the force like a acrobat can. but nobody can do that because its an underrated sport.
Call me crazy, but I think Jason LOSES some potential speed with how upright his swing plane is. But, part of that may be because of his height. Some of the taller guys have a flatter swing plane (which is correct for a driver) and are able to achieve BIG TIME clubhead speed with seemingly less effort than Jason.
i guess nobody told them that jai alai gets to 188 mph averagely and could probably get more. although i think its a bit wierd how first it was 185, then 187, then 204?!? did he take roids on his lunchbreak or something!?
they realize 188 for a golf ball isn't that insane gary woodland gets ball speed of over 200 mph when he swings at it with a normal length shaft and normal swing.
I cant belive he uses pinnicles. I personally think the top flight pro dist give most distance althou i think they are crappy balls. i just never really thought of pinnicles as the farthest.
Lol its won not one. And at the end of the day Jason has the most titles but jamie has faster ball speeds so would have made sense for him to beat the record 😂 would have broken it with his first swing easily
ok yes he can hit a long ball but this isnt very fair for othr sports the long drivers are set up way differently than other clubs the heads have more power and the shafts are longer for more speed and whip action so techincally its not fair
Actually the faces on long drivers are thicker than normal drivers taking away trampoline effect on the clubhead which creates speed because if not, the driver will blow up after about 15 hits because they swing so fast and hit the ball so hard. I will give you that the shafts are longer, but the shafts are much stiffer requiring much more power (created by the person) to get lag in the the shaft and cause that whip effect. And also, "so technically its not fair", is complete BS because the guys using the Jai Alai sticks or whatever term is used for them is creating that whip effect mimicking and being in essence, relative to a driver. So I conclude, next time you make a comment like this, know what forces are being used and try and know more than that the shafts are longer, so you can have some logic next time.
all of you are very wrong the drivers faces are only a little thicker thicker than a normal face and the shafts that thy use are much whippier and the fact is that the faces are bigger with a bigger sweet spot and they actually have alot of trampoline effect
+Alex Gieseke No, you and everyone else here is wrong. My grandfather used to play golf with a Jal alai stick to get the fastest possible. He drove the ball over 300mph by using the secret technology. That ball went 1200 yards and he got a hole in one on a par 8. RIP I will forever miss you gramps, he was the one they killed in Finding Nemo.
Assuming you're fairly good at the game of golf, 180 mph of ballspeed is not that hard too achieve. Now, if it was CLUBHEAD speed, that would be another story...
They do the math of the best golf swing vs just some avg jai alai player. I am sure there is some crazy jai alai player in Spain that is better than everyone else @ jai alai. And just like this long range golfer, said jai alai dudes' serve is above avg. blah blah blah experiment = fail.
The fastest ball is in badminton rn. The record is held by Tan Boon Heong and reach a ball speed 493 km/h = 306.336 mph.
I never said that revving it up to 180 was easy, hence the disclaimer "assuming you're fairly good at the game of golf." If you listen all the way to the end, the third attempt was 204 mph.

I love how he didn't touch the tee at all. That stroke was on point.
@AlexOseph That's done for dramatic effect, they used the radar gun for the actual reading.
I think it was an estimate using the densities of air and glass, thought it can be inaccurate because the particles can be arranged differently
This is very impressive. He is an animal!
I don't know if they added some powder to the clubface for theatrical effect, but that's awesome how it looks like the club is smoking.
for real that is the most jacked golf player I have ever seen.
Jason + Happy Gilmore drive + a loud scream = More Guinness World Record Fact Checking.
@AlexOseph THe glass wasnt used to measure the speed. They are using a radar for that. The glass is for a dramatic effect. They could bore the audience by going into the exact science but its likely they simplified it so that it was true at a basic level
Wow, that's ridiculous that I never saw that! Thanks for pointing it out.
That's insane! For one day, i just WISH i could do that.
lol, well I think the glass is just a show for the audience. Its probably not exactly accurate, but pretty accurate. I could be wrong though
But this guy is off the charts. Is 188mph the average for jaiali? it would make more sense to say the record hasn't been beaten...
there was a radar gun. the glass wasn't used for measuring speed.
188 mph? I’m from the future and we’re way way waaay beyond that now.
It doesn't look like he maintains that much lag. he might pick up some more speed if he did. Then again, he's probably tried it.
oh my god !! massive hit !!!!
this is insane

Maybe, but if he could do it he would have the potential to create more lag and clubhead speed and thus get more distance (assuming a good strike).
no man, you should see his training routine in the M&F magazine.
@AlexOseph well they still had the spedometer and the speed gun
nice- good call
Because hitting glass that got weakened by the previous ball is science.
guys in long drive have balls speeds over 220 mph now
this whole show is about breaking glass
yea thats because with a regular tee you can hit the ball cleaner
There are at least 100 guys that go over 200 mph - no problem, they can be found at the REMAX WLDC in Mesquite, NV. I'd say that most tour pros are fairly good at the game of golf, and there are about 3 or 4 that get it over 180 mph. Tiger is about 185 mph.
yup
They have a friggin radar gun, whats the point of the glass?
Tis' the fastest ball sport as long as you don't view or include paintball and bb gun fights (which can be safe enough with proper protection to not inflict too much permanent(ish) damage).
is that a ust proforce shaft?
Kyle Berkshire hits 180 plus ball speed with an 8 iron
if you wanna break the glass just hit it with the club haha
Playing Pinnacles also helps...
Just watched a program last night the guy hit the ball 480 +.
Tempered glass do not crack or get weaker. Tempered glass either is intact, or shatters. Ask an architect.
Current record Seb Twaddle 240 mph ball speed
I think he wore them in case a shard of glass came flying back at him.
I with yah on that ! hahah
They should redue this with kyle Berkshire😎😎😎
Ehem Jamie saglowski anyone?
Jamie's ball speeds are now upwards of 210 mph. Doesn't even compare to the jai alai ball
Well I believe at this time Jamie wasn’t around or very well known
Jai-alai is still the fastest ball game. Golfers hit a stationary ball. Then they don't see the ball again until it has stopped! Jai-alai players have that rock hard ball coming at them and they have to catch it! Baseball players have to hit 100mph pitches, but the ball is not nearly as dangerous and the speed not as high. he has 3 more world championships in long driving than sadlowski... zuback also has 14 yards more on his furthest drive... try again mate
Why didn't they just test if a jai alai ball can really travel 188 mph? If anything, I'd like to know if that holds any truth.
If this guy had lag like Sergio, who knows how fast he'd be swinging.
Actually it's the golf ball because NYle pruitt and Jaimie sadlowski have a swing of 150mph and ball of 2
Jeff Payton
Jamie is the total package. Perfect swing...insane speeds.
What's crazy about Jason is his backswing. He doesn't break his wrist and he's real stiff. Exact opposite of Jamie. Horrible looking mechanics when compared to Jamie's swing. Jamie maximizes everything with perfect technique.
Yeah, i agree. It's a shame they didn't think about using a radar gun!!! oh... wait...
Randy Johnson has slung a few upwards of 107 mph
but they did have a radar gun
the fastest ball is thrown by the ancient sport slinging . it hits speeds up to 190 to 200 mph . and iff used by real trained acrobat proffesionals like i assume the inca's where because they killed a horse and broke swords in 2 pieces with it. they used 2m plus handslings and used a acrobatic jump to increase velocity.

It does, google it.

Some of the taller guys have a flatter swing plane (which is correct for a driver) and are able to achieve BIG TIME clubhead speed with seemingly less effort than Jason.
wait.... why not scream and make the swing 25% more powerfull? hmm?
holy crap
what about paintball?
For me the fastest balls in the sport is Usain Bolt's balls.
@jimmyg869
What is "it" and how is "it" not PGA legal?
Baseball is only one that only uses ur body and not a stick or something
This show cares more about proving america is better than anything
Yes... Because simply setting up a background of stripes like they do on mythbusters is too hard...
Not to mention they won't tell the 46.12345123%. its 50 for us. At least for me it is :D
imagine catching it
Oh yeah, the glass will DEFINITELY reduce the ball speed by exactly 50%. 'Science' my arse.
i guess nobody told them that jai alai gets to 188 mph averagely and could probably get more. although i think its a bit wierd how first it was 185, then 187, then 204?!? did he take roids on his lunchbreak or something!?

no he doesn't and never did
you do realize that that is possible? and the fact that they used radar gun.
I cant belive he uses pinnicles. I personally think the top flight pro dist give most distance althou i think they are crappy balls. i just never really thought of pinnicles as the farthest.
GOLF fuck yeah!!!!!! (meme)
sadlowski: 220mph, duh WINNING
jamie sadlowski with a normal length driver hits it 210 mph
Owen Wagner Jamie's only one two championships jason Zuback one 5 dumbass, he's the best long driver ever period!!
Lol its won not one. And at the end of the day Jason has the most titles but jamie has faster ball speeds so would have made sense for him to beat the record 😂 would have broken it with his first swing easily
He is still a +1 handicap i mean ya hes not amazing at the other part of the game but he is pretty damn good still
damn hi lie is bad ass
Physics major here. You sir, are wrong.
The dude hits the ball 468 yards...I don't think he needs tips
ok yes he can hit a long ball but this isnt very fair for othr sports the long drivers are set up way differently than other clubs the heads have more power and the shafts are longer for more speed and whip action so techincally its not fair

shut up dude i hate annoying people like you that troll with stupid ass comments if you dont know what your talking about than shut up
Alex Gieseke lol
zuback is a beast!!!
He really needed to were the shades 8)
look at his surroundings sherlock holmes its not even the same room obviously it wasnt there intention
There's no way he swings 204. Ball speed maybe.
+Eyeslo 420 yup, it's ball speed, that's what the vid says
His club head speed is around 130-140 I’d say. Maybe 145
He's probably hit it farther and faster if he had more wrist hinge at the top of his backswing.
@taumelgolfer get chuck he cracks infinite ...
Joe Miller would have done it in one
Reggie's Homework as would Burke, Winther, and like 6 other guys at least
Assuming you're fairly good at the game of golf, 180 mph of ballspeed is not that hard too achieve. Now, if it was CLUBHEAD speed, that would be another story...
Umm last I checked baseball uses a stick..
uh, at this point i think my dad can hit a ball faster than tiger
@JSZstudios I thought receiving was gay.
216
badminton!! try Lee Chong Wei!!
But nobody is on the receiving end of a golf ball... Golf is 50% lame
Ddddddaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmm
nothing compared to Jamie Sadlowski
