Marry The Night was released in November of 2011, and she broke her hip in February of 2012. It was supposed to be the lead single of the album, but she changed her mind after writing Born This Way. Scheiße was also supposed to be the second single, but I don't know why they changed that spot with Judas + Heavy Metal Lover was supposed to be the final single, but it was canceled after Marry The Night underperformed on the charts. Gaga even performed HML on New Year's Rock Eve 2012. Another fun fact, there are pictures on the internet of the set of the original TEOG music video. They re-used some of it's concepts and ideas for You And I (the mermaid) and Marry The Night (hospital set) music videos
that is so wrong she wanted born this way to be the lead single her label didn't so she sang it on vma or grammys or idk . and i'm sure judas was planned to be the second single it was made to be a single. and she didn't broke her hip in 2012 it was in 2013 on her tour
Favorite deep cut for me is the queen. That song has inspired my queer journey and it feels so special because she rarely sings it live. Plus the guitar solo and the bridge lyrics are so iconic
Gaga wanted 10 singles on the album including Heavy Metal Lover, Government Hooker and Fashion Of His Love, but after Marry The Night underperformed they cancelled them. Scheiße was meant to be the 2nd single but was replaced with Judas. It was then going to be one of the 10 singles but the remaining 5 were cancelled after Marry The Night
@@EljohnMacaranas Not necessarily. 5+ singles were a successful strategy for Pop albums a few times this century, most notably 2006-2008 and 2010-2012: FERGIE: The Dutchess (6) NELLY FURTADO: Loose (8) BEYONCE: B-Day (7) / I Am... Sasha Fierce (9) RIHANNA: Good Girl... Gone Bad (6 + 4 [Re-Release]) / Loud (7) / Unapologetic (7) KATY PERRY: Teenage Dream (7 + 2 [Re-Release]) Gaga was so huge in 2011 that ALL 4 songs released pre-album peaked on debut: BTW (#1), Judas (#10; only 3 days of tracking), EOG (#3; only digital sales), Hair (#12; only digital sales). They were so sloppy that it killed all momentum. BTW > MTN > EOG pre-album + Y&I > Hair > FOHL > The Queen (the last 2 with a re-release) could've gotten her ~2 #1 hits and ~5-7 Top 10s. Government Hooker and/or Scheisse could've been released as Euro-only singles..
My favorites of Born this way: Judas: it's a amazing dark song and it is simply the best. Bloody Mary: I miss Gaga's scary songs, it's simply a master-piece Scheiße: the instrumental is so weird that you can't ignore it, it's wonderful Eletric Chapel: the Rock n' Roll vibes of this song is wonderful Americano: this is SO underrated, mixing Spanish and English just made this song better Government Hooker: this song is so funny, it's really nice to see the way that she can make a really childish voice than turning it into a evil demon saying "UNLESS YOU WANNA BE MAN" Bad kids: I really see myself in that songs, talking about how parents out expectations over their children and than being mad when their expectations don't happen because you can't decide how someone is
The format’s gonna be hella different bc Artpop was a mess. I want everyone to know the context of why it fell apart and why it’s her most ambitious and underrated era yet! Thanks so much!
Born this way will forever make me cry as i live in texas i get death threats constantly and this album is ljke a comfort food album. Thus is the album that made me idolize her
I’m feel so lucky to have lived through this era. When she was really active with us on twitter. And feel sooo lucky to have experienced the BTWB live ❤
When you said that im only showing 3 deep cuts and im not expecting for you to say Fashion Of His Love im like Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats one of my favs in the album❤️❤️
Fashion of His Love is one of Gaga’s best songs. The message behind it for Alexander McQueen (RIP) and the tribute to Whitney’s 80’s sound… it would have done excellent on the charts.
@@EljohnMacaranas born this way is just the standard.. born this way ball was a party...I attended the Thailand show.. I almost went deaf.. gaga rules Asia for sure
Born This Way is my most important album in my whole life. It's the most special one. Bloody Mary, Hair, Electric Chapel, Scheibe, The Queen, Americano, Black Jesus + Amen Fashion, Fashion Of His Love, Government Hooker are my favourite tracks.
Justice for Heavy Metal Lover and Bloody Mary (the production is SO layered!). Furthermore, Hair has the most exciting progression after the first chorus, it slaps!
Hair is underrated and I wish I had talked on it! I think it was forgotten bc it dropped around the time EoG smashed so hard it had to be a single in Interscope’s plans
I’m a gay man who grew up in a religious, homophobic household. Born This Way was released at a pivotal moment in my life... when I was 12 and just beginning to discover my sexuality. I always credit Gaga for helping me avoid ever hating myself and my fellow alphabet mafia.

3:19 I have to disagree, no offence but in my opinion it’s the 2nd worst song in her career it doesn’t hit hard like Judas, sheiße,FOHL,HML,eclectic chapel does see in the song theres a buildup to the chorus and i feel underwhelmed
@@EljohnMacaranas omg el John if you do this I will be speechless 😶 waiting for it. I am giving you tear for the fame and 3 years for whole albums. Please do jazz album as separate videos - they deserve the attention. Xoxo
I think this era was Gaga’s continued domination over pop culture like The Fame and The Fame Monster everyone remembers but BTW some ppl had tuned out because she was just everywhere. I also blame this era for why ppl wanted Artpop to fail like she’d grown too powerful for some and her advocacy for the gays had turned off middle america. It was a tragedy.
I love how in the Judas cover, you can see the reflection of Gaga taking a picture of it with her phone

10 singles was way too much for a cycle, even imperial Gaga can’t. Though Fashion of His Love would have been an easy Top 10 tbh.
