What i love about Davis and White is their raw energy and their ability not only to become one with the music, but BE the characters in the song. For example, in the first segment of this program, you can see the phantom's longing for christine, but she skates away sometimes out of fear and the phantom chases her. in the music of the night section, she succumbs to the phantom, and in the ending pose, christine (meryl) emerges triumphant with the phantom on the ground, just like in the musical.
I loved their incredible speed, energy and passion on the ice. This piece brought out the best in them. Apparently the audience was drawn by their daring, original and complicated moves. It was a refreshing change over predictable swirling and twirling that characterizes typical ice dancers. I wonder how they have time to train for this and to attend university as well. They are an amazing pair.
There's so much musicality and drama in their program. it really captures the audience. Most time they're so silent yet attentive, anticipating what the next move will be. The choreography really tells the story of the Phantom. Everybody giving them a collective standing ovation must be an amazing feeling for Davis and White and their coaches.
Wow, just an absolutely amazing program. I seen this on the tv during the olympics and just totally fell in love with it. I'm totally impressed with how they manged to merge the 2 big songs in the musical so seemlessly. The only thing that I think would've made it even better was if he wore a phantom mask ^^ I would've loved to see that.
I think they are the only ones in the world who could have pulled this routine off. No exceptions. I thought Moir/Virtue were incredible in Vancouver, but this routine??? It's pure awesomeness. The way these two move with the music and embody the story on ice is incredible. This routine was the perfect way to showcase their speed and togetherness (if that makes sense)
not only do i just adore phantom, but their dance was just beautiful! like what the commentator said, they kept me interested esp with the highs and lows of the music. they expressed the music perfectly! AH! so good :D
The ice skating competition caught my eye,so I've been watching it for 3 hours. These guys are really good!!! The speakers said that they skated POTO last year and I got really excited because I LOVE phantom of the opera, and I'd been thinking the entire time how cool a POTO routine would be.No joke!! I had also seen a bit of their outfits earlier and thought they were gorgeous. So here is the best team in the best costumes skating to the best music. WIN-WIN-WIN! :D
I know I'm gonna sound biased because I'm an American but I do believe they should've won the gold. Don't get me wrong I watched the Canadian couple too and they did a wonderful job as well (very elegant and graceful) but I feel that this routine showed more passion and fierce than the others did. Plus they played Phantom of the Opera - my all time FAVORITE musical. I bet Andrew Lloyd Webber was proud! :O)
I love this music. I really have to say, I wasn't such a big Phantom of the Opera fan; but after seeing this I absolutely loved it. I wonder if anybody else has used this music?
I think this pair proves that strong routines CAN make or break a season. Their OD was clearly the best out of everyone's (ahem. Russia) and this FD if not the best, was second only to the canadians in terms of emotion put into it and choreography. HOwever, I think they should've gotten a better FD score in Vancouver because not only did this routine have the emotion, it had the power and strength that the canadian routine did not.
i believe they got deducted because of the lifts. one of them is too long. they also got deducted for this in the Olympics. But Charlie and Meryl are just so... captivating.
This was wonderful, beautiful, erotic, thrilling, and all around spectacular. And I don't even care for skating, but I love The Phantom of the Opera and I really enjoyed watching this.
