This is an old private teacher having msc bed maths.
I observed the last 15+ years the education system is running on passion only . Exams just conducted with mall practice with the support of some sectors.
As you said the practice of learning is only tested in exam papers not for children.
The system should go back to the past system as yours or just forward .
Inspection should be done by the selected committee members at least yearly 2 times.
Teachers should teach moral values in the school.
Parents should ignore the mobile to children.
