That was amazing, had me on the edge of my seat when you stopped going up that hill and had to start again, i know what 80,000 pounds feels like but 280,000? Wow
a video on youtube of Australian roadtrain pulling 170 tonnes up a hill.. 380,000 pounds at 14 km/h at 55 pounds of boost on turbo and he never stalls it lol. Probably 4 trailers behind him also.
I was thinking the same. I max out daily every load at 60000kg (132000lb) gross of powdered cement here n Canada and it's extremely heavy. This is a whole nother level.
@@MistaRoyanT Yea was another video i passed on youtube just a day ago was a 1100HP Australian roadtrain pulling 100 tonnes up a hill. People don't respect truck drivers enough. we need them more then people credit them for.
I ran a big rig wrecker in the 80's, this is exciting, it's NICE to have the driver ride with you that you can question and learn about specialized equipment, that makes it fun !! you did a great job !! 😃😃
Great video Trent - would it be better to have the trailer brakes set and the truck released when you extended the underreach before pulling into the lot? i.e. push your "light" truck forward vs the "heavy" towed unit rearward?
Trent ! Look how far you have come in the last few years I've been following you. Hopefully you are very proud of the accomplishments you have made for yourself. I'm surely proud and I'm sure your family is as well. Keep up the good work young man. Your making a great example of what a true hard honest working American is all about.
I wonder if Josh from Pepe's could have pulled this off as smoothly as you did with a smaller truck no less. Good job Trent. One thing for sure is that road is so desolate it's not some place you want to break on. What was also nice was the driver interaction with you. 240K pounds is not like towing a Toyota. LOL.
The immense power that engine has to produce to haul of this is just mind blowing. When the human body can’t even haul not even 0.5% of what the truck is towing especially in that heat
Wow, very interesting job there. Be a long way to Houston on the back roads. Fantastic team work and coordination. True Professional!! Thanks for shariung
lol this reminds me of my "david vs. goliath' video.. It was a tiny little lifter tow truck, pulling a huge container truck. On flat roads thankfully! Your load was incredibly long though. Especially considering the length of your own truck. It's a good thing you have your escorts.
Hello Trent, old guy tip for ya, when i have something that heavy, i set the brakes on the trailer, double check that their set : ) , and release the brakes on my tow truck. : ) then adjust the under reach. much easier to move 70,000 than 200,000+ : ) and as always, nice work young man
Driving a long truck that weighs that much definitely takes a lot of experience vs towing a standard semi. Good job utilizing his expertise to ensure a successful tow.
That is quite a load, by any measure! I was wondering how the tractor front axle copes with all that load pulling on it, instead of the drive bogie pushing under the tractor chassis. It did, of course, but I guess the truck designers must take it into account so as not to pull the axle off the chassis in a recovery. Great video!
I've hears of tow drivers when pulling a super load like this will run chains from the under reach bar back to the casualty frame to help take some of the pull force off of the casualty steer axle. But like Ron Pratt says 6+4 or 2+8, it all gets done in the end.
Great video brother also the driver was very helpful with the explanation of things and how to get it down the road safely. Both of you guys in the cab was a class act.
This was an interesting tow. After you got it to where it needed to be you were learning something about the trailer and that's a good oppratiator & you were listening to the driver for tips on how best to tow it. That's ALWAYS GOOD.
Cool to the this heavy haul. Next time I see one of the heavy haul super trailers on the highway I will better appreciate the skill it takes to drive it. Thanks for the video.
I would love to have the opportunity to try something like this. I've gotten pretty damn quick at shifting this 10spd I currently drive, but haven't played with a 18spd manual yet
@@quickET1968 it's more of the rpm split between gears is much closer. So it would be some adjustment of throttle off, shift throttle on Theoretically should be able to shift even faster as there's less time needed to let rpms drop. And considering I can shift 4-5 as if there is no pause between gears, the 18spd should be fun
Backdriving a gearbox in neutral only turns the mainshaft, but it's the input and counters that really get the oil moving around because the gears reach lower.
Nice Titan by Mack - this model offered in the US was based very loosely on an Australian model of the same name. The Titan that is built in Australia is a heavy haulage/road train spec prime mover (tractor unit)

A1 tow. When I was in jr high , the weight limit in ny was 73280. Local sand and gravel trucks hauled about 18 inches over the sideboards on 40 ft steel dump trailers. A neighbor owned a tire company, the sand and gravel companies were his best customers, sold them lots of tires, brakes, drums and springs. A loaded sand trailer grossed out at 325000 with wet sand. I asked him how they got away with running 325000, when the max was 73280. He pulled out a magazine published by the county PBA magazine ( POLICE MENS BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION ) . All the local sand and gravel companies and anyone else who ran way overweight took out huge half or full page ads, to the tune if $5k per month minimum. As long as they took out the ads they didnt get scaled. One of his customers skipped the ad one month and almost went broke with overweight tickets. Never made that mistake again. The majority of the sand and gravel companies, trash and heavy haulers were mafia run . . JUST SAYIN

I'm surprised they didn't just repower the load right there and have you tow the tractor only. not to play back seat driver, just a question, but weren't you far exceeding the tow rating (not the lift rating, I know you were well under that) of the underlift itself? that said, I'm definitely kinda jealous, like you said, probably a once in a lifetime tow

18 speed has lower gears. Only thing that has a lower low than a 18 is a 8LL
