  • The global population has hit eight billion and is set to reach 11bn by the end of the century.
Nigeria's infrastructure is already straining while maintaining the lives of 200 million people.
But that figure is set to hit 400 million by 2050.
Sky News takes a look at the problems that poses to the west African country and to other similar nations.

The problem in Nigeria is that they crowd people into the cities and leave a lot of the country empty. I think it has about 3 times the population of the UK and about 3.5 times the area.

Let them get on with it! Its their land, their culture, their lives. We need to stop our colonial attitudes to people who choose to live different from us. We treat them like they are stupid or making bad decisions. It's not for us to judge. All cultures are equal.

We have a verse land under inhabited. The economy forced everyone try to live in big city due to lack of unemployment. The government refused to give support to local government authorities... resources are not shared and managed properly. It's not over population I see in this documentary..the pictures shows more of what the government has result his own citizens too. God save Nigeria

There is n9 governor that can feed everybody, the Europeans reduced their birth rate duri g thd industrial revolution becas they started living in cities instead of farms and now they needed to pay for accommodation instead of living on farm steads, they also needed to buy food, why can't the same economic realities make people realize their b8rthrate has to come down for a higher standard of living,

Nigeria is one of the few countries which has a demographic that sustains a human future, unlike most countries especially communist China.
Nigeria has a government however which is unstable.
Since the British left in 1960 Nigeria has sunk into ethnic strife, political executions and mayhem.
The population numbers are good but the administration of the economy has been very poor, since the Brits left.
Give folk good economics and they will prosper in good conditions and peace.

But the Brits didn’t do anything better for the community anyway , they couldn’t even build proper infrastructure then, they were there for their own interests, better that they left , however, Nigeria need to start elect proper leaders from the bottom level up to presidency, and they need to fight Corruption, Poverty, diseases and Bandits.
