An essential requirement for the release of radioactive contaminated water is the removal of nuclides. Tokyo Electric Power has insisted on eliminating more than 60 nuclides in contaminated water with the Multinuclide Removal Facility (ALPS).But it turned out that Tokyo Electric Power's claim was false. At a public hearing held in August last year, Tokyo Electric Power acknowledged that it failed to remove key radionuclides such as tritium, cesium 137, strontium 90, and iodine 131.Tokyo Electric Power also said, "A self-analysis of 890,000 tons of contaminated water has resulted in 750,000 tons, 84% of which exceeded the standard value, of which strontium 90 was found to exceed 20,000 times the standard value."Nevertheless, the Japanese Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner reaffirmed that the Japanese government's firm position on the ocean discharge, which is a quick and inexpensive method of treating polluted water, was a firm position.

@@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk Greenpeace's main findings are: In the Itate area, where decontamination was completed, four out of six households measured radiation levels on average three times higher than the Japanese government's long-term goals. At some points, even higher levels of radiation were measured than in 2015, presumably as a result of recontamination. In one of the houses in the Namie evacuation area, radiation was measured that could reach up to 7 milliberts, which is well above the annual annual exposure limit of 1 millibert, even though the area was a pilot site for decontamination in the past. This shows that the effectiveness of decontamination works is negligible. 10 milliliters of radiation was measured annually in a forest near a school in Namie where evacuation instructions were released, indicating that decontamination did not significantly reduce student exposure. Young children are particularly vulnerable to radiation exposure. At one point in Namie's evacuation zone, radiation was measured that could be exposed to up to 101 milliverts per year. Assuming that one year is spent at that point, it is about 100 times the normal public limit. This first poses a serious danger for decontamination workers who will spend a lot of time in the area.

@@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk i agree there is no prove that someone has died from Fukushima radiation....the only concern that i have is the long term effect of the radiation disaster
@@eisooneusoof4390 What "long term effect"? No one has died from Fukushima radiation, no increase in cancers, and the Japanese people each year boast having the longest lifespan over the entire world. Some "the end is near" you have there.
Now if they could only move on to the BBC and dump it into a land fill, but what landfill would want it?
A soundproof one, and the walls of the landfill surrounded by mirrors to reflect their nonsense back at them.

It's crazy thing !! How dare Olympic games will be held?
Hansen Tran Where should they be held? Let's compare radiation readings. Seoul is more radioactive than Tokyo. Should we ban all travel to South Korea?
Notice how you're not finding any independent reports on this.
It's funny.
In that particular reactor I wonder what element did they use to shield the rods 🤔
Zirconium I guess
I have a legitimate question. Just curiosity. Let's say I do all the tests before and go to 2020 Tokyo Olympic, enjoy the venues, and come back do radiation check. If it turns out, I had no exposure to radiation then that's great. However, If I was exposed to high levels of radiation, wouldn't that put the people back home at risk when I come back? Also, If I were to develop some sort of disease from radiation, can I sue the Olympic committee and Japan? and maybe even my own government for not declaring travel-safe country? And if I can sue, If I were to die before the court settlement, can my relatives be benefited from this?
Oh my...Tokyo olympic is really crazy....not Tokyo radiation correct
Blows my mind how they construct weight bearing structures over the decimated reactors. Prior to this there was only 1 example throughout history that they could refer to. Such a niche. No doubt the fees etc would have been exorbitant.
Will be a lot worse than Chernobyl

You still refuse to look anything up don't you? there's absolutely no reason to boycott Olympics due to radiation. You are a racist South Korean.

It sounds like nonsense to me. People live longer today than they did during the days of nuclear testing.

I can assure you that Japan will never give up on Olympic and I just hope Olympic sports players to be safe from radiation. I also recommend you not to go to Tokyo Olympic. For sports players don't have much choice since that's the Olympic is a thing that they've been preparing for more than 4 years but for others it doesn't worth to risk your health and in some serious cases your lives. And one much more crazy thing about Tokyo Olympic is that Japanese government said that they will serve the sports players the foods from Fukushima. Much more scary thing is agriculture from Fukushima is all over the Japan since they are cheap.

Now it's time for you to report the nuclear water in 2021, BBC. Don't be blind!
They been to cover all of Japan in something with the people in it!
Where do you think the 137-Cesium will be carried from buried contaminated soil? It will go to the ground water and it will be discharged to the Pacific Ocean. And deliver to the world by carrying current. Even more, Japanese government has plan to discharge huge amount of contaminated water to the ocean soon or later.
Azuma stadium in Fukushima City, just approx. 20 km away from accident site (Nuclear power plant) will be used for some games in 2020 Olympic games.
Each government and IOC should have get ready if their player got sick after the game.
This message is not enough to deliver the truth. Because BBC delivers only the Tokyo Electric Company (government) side excuses.
Dr. CY리스크컬리지 South Korea also dumped radioactive waste into the East sea in the 60's and 70's. Seoul is more radioactive than Tokyo. Should we ban all food and travel to South Korea?
@@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk Do you have any documents to prove?
Well, 60' and 70', in that time we all didn't know about radioactive does problems. Many countries did nuclear bomb tests including U.S. A deep seabed is said to have dumped nuclear waste by those bomb test and called it a tomb of nuclear waste. The abandoned drum is rusted, leaking radioactive material, and has high levels of radioactivity in the surrounding marine life. We all were ignorant that time.
In 1986, we had Chernobyl accidents and we had chance to learn. Near Chernobyl, the area is still non-residential.
This era, we know how Fukushima accidents happened and we know the impacts of it.
This problem is NOT only Japanese problem. On this issue, we should not let the Japanese government randomly discharge contaminated water into the sea. This issue should be discussed with the international community. It is a problem that the whole world must consider together.

But no one died from Fukushima radiation.
@@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk Greenpeace's main findings are:
In the Itate area, where decontamination was completed, four out of six households measured radiation levels on average three times higher than the Japanese government's long-term goals.
Or it could just be Greenpeace is anti-nuke and went into areas either excluded or restricted to take their samples: ua-cam.com/video/YwilgoEVexw/v-deo.html All Fukushima fear mongering is easily debunked.
