This is pure nostalgia and one of the best fight-scenes I'll always remember. saw this as a kid and never forgot how awesome it was, Breetai is a fuckin' boss! Thanks for the upload.
I really love this this is the unedited TV version without the other sound effects that they added in the other later versions of this the original sound effects are awesome thank you
That's the main reason they built transformable fighter in the very first place. When the Macross crashed on Earth, they discovered the giant crew's bodies on board.
@@floydjohnson7888Obviously unlike mobile suits in Gundam, the humans NEEDED to build humanoid mechs, in case they ever encountered the giant aliens in the future. That’s one of the things that sets Macross apart from Gundam.
Breetai was a zentradi that was created to be a leader to be made that much tougher than a regular warrior. For him to defeat 2 mecha by himself shows how powerful he is.
This is just speculation, but I believe Breetai is alive in Macross Frontier as the owner of SMS Mr Birker. Very wealthy and powerful, he seeks to find Lynn Minmei. You should see his home and train set (real trains) and the look on Alto's face when he meets him.
Breetai is so well built as a Zentraedi, that according to one of the Robotech novels, it explains why Breetai has that face covering on the right side of his face. In the novel an Invid assault force attacked the planet where the SDF-1 (Zor's Battleship) was. While fighting off the Invid, Breetai took a hit from an Invid Shock Trooper right in the face. During this conflict was when the SDF-1 was sent away, ultimately arriving at Earth.
yeah, IIRC that question of "what does it take to stop this guy" eventually got answered.... blow up the battleship he's fighting in. Breetai didn't go down with his own ship either. he was wreaking havok in an Invid ship when it exploded.
The backstories in to Robotech novels are just awesome. Added so much depth to the originally simple “giant, pirate looking enemy captain”. RIP Carl Macek and Brian Daley.
Try and imagine it from the Sentradi perspective. Fighting a robot your own size that has a living being inside, so small he fits in the size of your hand. It must have been a truly bizarre encounter.
@@AlexSDU ok makes sense and Lisa Misa says to try and burn through the airlock........ WITH YOUR LASERS???! Just use more rockets perhaps? But alas, they are in a Zentraedi warship so good luck finding any weapons.
That's right. The helmets could read intent from pilots. In the novels it was a big deal that Rick could close the canopy of his fighter when he saved Minmae from falling. Also getting the hand to open after it was disconnected in the first place.
@@mamabanniesworld4928 Dude, the battlecruiser is a total Gloval rip off, even in 97 I totally saw it despite seeing the series at least since 87, Blizzard had some balls then. I do not think they can get away with it now.
Breetai is pretty much the Kingpin of Zentraedi, so there are probably outliers when it comes to him. Dude took an exploding mech, point blank to the face and walked it off.

Cal no prob
Breetai scaling the outside of his ship in bare space then jumps down to beat Rick Hunters veritech with a pipe!

Was such a great concept. Us using giant mechs to fight giant intelligent people.
That's the main reason they built transformable fighter in the very first place.

I think there was a subtle joke in Japan, "Unlike 'Gundam', our fighting machines look like giant humanoids for a reason."

Jim McDonald Technically he beat 3
Jim McDonald yeah. He one shotted Ben, but who hasn’t in this series? 😅

2 of they were Aces, human kind finest 😅
Never mind that he survived being temporarily "spaced" in only his regular uniform (no spacesuit) and was able to clamber back into the ship.
Breetai is a badass!!!

Mr. Divery
That’s not a hard feat for a Zentreadi... it’s like beating a person with a pipe...
Hyperion lol honestly it is amazing since all the other Zentradi fights, good example is Mirya vs Max round 3 they ain't the best with weapons.

I think Breetai would destroy the majority of the Titans on the attack on titan

Too bad the brightness in this video a bit dark, but right after Max spaced Breetai out, the hole were automatically sealed by the airlock seal.

Max straight up was trying to kill Breetai.
And he failed 😂
Even as a kid I thought how the pilots could function in battleoid mode with such agility using some levers and knobs.🤔
I guesd they have some programmed hand to hand moves, you do a combination and the onboard computer does the rest. That's my best guess
Daimos was the best Mecha ever created.
Supposedly, in the source material, the helmets could read brain impulses (a la Craig Thomas' "Firefox"), making mech karate feasible .
