The board and the sporting directors are at the heart of our problems, but if Poch can’t even get the basics of trying to play a settled team with players in their correct positions then he’s not the man for the job. Summed up well. Pochettino wasn't my first choice but I'm still willing to give it a chance, I feel no connection currently. But if goes, then the ones that hired him need to go too. Absolute embarrassment for us.
Hey nini, great analysis. I believe the owners are to blame for the mess this season and last season.
While I do believe signing young players are important for the future of the club, building our whole squad on under 22 year olds is what I believe is causing us to lose and get schooled but almost every team. We lack maturity and experienced players who can offer that dangerous threat that can get us winning games (e.g. a lethal striker like Osimhen, and an elite centre back to command the line).
Although we do have an experienced player like Thiago Silva, the reality is his old age is catching up to him and he is most likely going to retire when the season ends. When he leaves, where is our seniority and experience going to be? I saw our game against Newcastle at St James’s Park and I saw that the defence was VERY uncoordinated and uncooperative at times which worried me.
These young players are not gonna know how to bounce back from these losses or recover from bad moments when there’s no authority from senior players to teach them how to recover from those moments and mistakes.
While Pochettino has made questionable decisions this season, I don’t think this crisis is entirely his fault given how much immaturity he’s having to deal with. Even if a world class manager like Zidane or hansi flick were to come in, what can they do? They won’t be able to properly implement their style of play with a squad solely built on youth.
if you take a look at how Liverpool or man city handle their squad and structure, you can see most of their players are 25 or over that have the balls and ability to go toe to toe with the best teams in the world, while slowly integrating younger players into the squad. We Chelsea on the other hand have an ENTIRE squad of U22s.
I believe in January we should go all out for victor Osimhen to give us a clinical striker in front of goal, an elite winger (if Madueke is to leave), and an experienced elite CB that can command the line (I would love to have John Stones in the squad) to offer a short term replacement for Thiago Silva once he retires.
I think a lesson the board and owners should take from this is that you cannot build a “2030 vision” type of club without the results in the present, that’s not how it works or what it takes to be an elite club today.
Everton and Southampton have done the exact same project as us, building a whole squad around young immature players and look how they turned out. Southampton have been relegated, Everton are relegation / mid-table contenders, and then there’s us, currently 12th position for the 2nd season in a row as I’m writing this.
The board needs to understand we’re not a club like Ajax, Dortmund, or a feeder club in general. I hope we go into January trying to sign proven elite players rather than splash 40m on more 16 year olds.
The PL isn't an under-23 league. Most teams are looking for experienced players at their peak. Chelsea is becoming a feeder club.
I would take an out-of-form Fernando Torres, a serial misser Alvaro Morata, a forever offside Timo Werner, a backup Striker Loic Remy, or a Demba Ba right now over our first choice No.9

Poch should be sacked, yes, but so should the sporting directors. He called for experience pre season and didn't get it (their fault) but same time, he should be doing better (his fault) and the players need accountability ASAP. Bring in Jose, bring in one or two guys who knows the Chelsea standard and get these guys sorted or else we will be scraping to stay up. Incredible.

Experience, we have it .Most of our players play for their national teams, so this falls out. It is a matter of time. Let's give them time to gel. They have been together only this season . Chelsea are the biggest joke in football and have been since the new ownership. No sustainable squad building. Just reckless spending, hiring and firing managers, staff and unprecedented turnover of players. There is no hope for this project as the foundation of it is piss poor. Has any club made a fool of themselves in the way Chelsea have? Literally spent over a billion and is not even close to being one of the top 10 teams in the league. This is not a football club anymore. It is an unfixable mess that no manager would risk their career to solve. But at least we have young players who you can make compilations of and we use Travis Scott songs in training to make cold edits 🥶 Those nights in Munich and Porto are gonna turn into Shrewsbury and Portsmouth really quickly unless a miracle happens

I strongly disagree with you on that Nini. It's too unrealistic to expect all areas of the club to kick. First we need to stabilise the performance. Then we can stabilise the club. And who the heck did Poch want that we could not give him. The squad in my opinion has more Pochetino players than Jose or Pep players so why can't he produce results. Tuchel produced more out of a dying team than any manager did. Poch has Sterling he has James, Enzo, Gallagher. Those are decent. Even still he still has 30 other players to work with if things aren't working right. If I remember correctly Poch actually wanted to downsize the squad. He was asked if he wanted an additional striker in exchange for Lukaku he said he was ok with the squad. Poch has no excuse for team he has. The performances are on him because he is paid to be Chelsea manager. If he doesn't perform with that bring in someone who can. Firing Poch wont solve anything. Of course it will. It will solve the losing of games. So firing Poch to bring in someone to loose won't matter. We are losing anyway. Realistically when a new manager comes he expects 1-2 of his players in the 1st year. You can't have everything you want before proving you are the one to change the dynamic of the club. And furthermore, under Poch we have no structure or style of play. Spurs win or loose have a style of play. And Ange wasn't given all the players he asked for. He produced with what he had to work with. Why can't Poch do the same.

Enzo is becoming more and more average. And he is the real problem now. Ideally, he can pair with Cacedo as #6 during build up. Then move up as #8 to deliver the decisive passes.
But as #6, his defensive shortage is too obvious as he couldn't follow effectively the opposite midfielders as we seen all the time.
As #8, he's becoming slower and slower after every game. And he chose safety passes all the time. If I am not wrong, he hasn't recorded any decisive passes. he's not clinical at all.
Moreover, he has a really bad hubit - he speads his arms showing the frustrations all the time when his teammate made mistakes or didn't pass the ball to him.
The saddest part about nowadays was that this result was expected 😣

Not as much as they fucked Everton. The whole reason Everton got a points deduction was due to interest repayments on the new stadium (nothing to do with players or FFP). The reason Everton had to take the inflated loans out was due to steel shortage after the war and the Russian backing of the club being sanctioned. You guys got bought out and let off the hook.
Fitness and discipline are the foundation of coaching. Tactics and strategy build on top of that foundation. My criticism of Poch is lack of player fitness and discipline.
That's why I wanted the Saudis to buy this club in the first place
I agree we can’t really fire Poch because the owners put the team in a tough position after the Potter fiasco. But just imagine that we lose to Sheffield next week. 11th thru 14th are all sitting at 19pts currently. We could be looking at 14th or 15th position very quickly if he doesn’t start figuring out how to get our to team to stop giving away sloppy goals.
In my anger I’m trying to recall the last goal we’ve conceded where I just had to tip my hat to the opposition for making a good team move that led to a goal - Manchester City game? THAT WAS 5 GAMES AGO AND WE HAVE CONCEDED 10 GOALS IN THE LAST 4!!
The attacking lineup I blame on our owners and directors. Guys too scared to take 1st time shots on their weaker foot, whiffing in front of goal, just no instincts in front of goal at all - poor recruitment.
Pochetino has to take 100% of the blame for our defensive struggles that we’ve seen all season. I understand if we take a couple of our chances, maybe the outcomes are different, but you can’t just start every game essentially down 2 goals. It may not be “popular”, but please go to a back 3 with Caicedo sitting in front and Enzo playing as the provider. PLEASE 🙏 ! We just need to learn how to win some 1-0 games then start building from there.

Some players are not just good enough and nothing any manager can do about it .. mydric for example he will make 2 good moves and 10 bad moves for whole game , you can’t be this inconsistent for a club like Chelsea , I remember one movement they pass the ball to mydric and he play it direct to opponent 😂 player like badshile garlager Sanchez Broja.. this players are not good enough

The owners thought they were getting a mechanic workshop the way just overhauled the team from the board to the crew to the coach and the the players.... I don't think i have seen any football club anywhere in the world were you just replace everyone in charge of affairs like the way the new owners just did...this is hard time to be a chelsea fan....very diffcult.... whatever it is we stay full of hope...
The biggest problem with us this season is this stupid possession style he tryin to play, yes we have high possesion but we also have no attacking play from the wingbacks, hence we are terrible going forward, he is playing with enzo moises and connor, that in itself should allow the wingbacks to push way up higher than they do, which inturn allows the wingers to get in more central areas of the attack, atm teams are happy for us to have the ball coz they know we cant do anything with it, poch just neeeds to stop playing scared and just attack teams more

The ownwrs bought babies to play against men in men:s league even though these babies had individual's talent...what will you have poch do? Like poch said; The template is there and perfect for the players, but the players needs the fire in them to execute it through individual brilliance". You cant give what you never had, our baby players as reached their peak.
From the beginning of the season, i boldly said it, we will be fine only when we start buying mature & experienced players of finished players in the mix, not under 21 kids . These babies as reached their peak so we need mature & experienced players in mix.

How Poch can call for more reinforcements in the january window is beyond me, we had a great summer signing lots of our targets. Yes we have been unfortunate with injuries but the lack of fight from some of our players (particularly against Man Utd) is something that needs addressing. I am seriously starting to question whether Poch is the man to take us forward. I doubt Poch even knows his best 11 because of the lack of consistency from our players. We are too easy to score against which is as big a problem as our lack of goals the other end.
When I look at our squad that was available, why didnt we put Noni , Lavia or Nkunku on the bench or even giving Leo Castledine or Alex Matos a chance when we are a goal down at Everton!

As for tonight's match, everything shows that we are not ready and I think that a qualifying place for the European Cup is not for now, perhaps next season because 'We don't have the team at all to compete with other Premier League clubs given the players we don't have! I have always said it and I will say it again, I do not blame Pocchetino even if he sometimes makes bad choices but I rather blame the Board because they destroyed the foundations of CHELSEA which had been solid since before Abramovich. They believed that by showing off bling bling CHELSEA was going to be above everyone. It's all well and good to buy all the best young people on the planet, but the Premier League is not the Ivory Coast championship. You fire all the people who built, founded CHELSEA, who know the philosophy and culture of CHELSEA while you could have worked with them to make CHELSEA even more powerful. How can you compare Brigthon to Chelsea? Because Brigthon over two years in the championship produces good football automatically we will recruit his coach, his sports director while there was already a solid base in the club with Marina and Petr Cech. The two sports directors that they brought to the club do not have the level, the proof when you look at the players that we were brought in are happy that Tiago Silva is there. I'm not saying that the players we have at the moment are not good, they are very good players but semi-finished players, whereas we needed finished players who have experience of the high level for years. With the €1 billion that we spent to buy players haphazardly, we could take this money to build a typical experimental team that we mixed with a few young players to learn from the more experienced. It's not normal that in a big club like CHELSEA we only have 30 or 40 players, how do you expect the coach to do his job well? I now understand why the old members of the club left because it was shit in the club and this shit is still with us. Can you believe that in a team like CHELSEA we don't even have a striker, nor a hard-hitting winger who scores goals, nor a defensive midfielder, nor a creative midfielder who hits a lot on goal, nor a solid defender in this world to go recruit Mudryk or Caicedo or Enzo or Sterling or Badiashile or Disasi, like this they were the only players in the world and like this Brigthon was the only club where you must go to buy players. Because Enzo automatically took €120 million from the World Cup and so on, while there are more experienced players above them that we could negotiate at a good price to automatically form an 11 type of CHELSEA to be above Europe but the new owners as well as their two sports directors did anything. For me this season if we stay in the middle of the table and if next season we don't have high level experienced players we will always be in the middle of the table because we cannot compare ourselves to Aston Villa or even Bournemouth if we can't win a sick Manchester United team. It’s compounded by injuries and not being ready for the season right from the beginning, it’s going to stay inconsistent because the team is not ready and needs to survive in the Premier League this season to start to integrate and become better and more functional 🤷♂️
I don't really understand what your expectations were for the season Niinii. You can only expect slow improvement as the whole staff get to know how to operate together. Its a new club and will take some years to progress. I think we understand there is a long term project - but there are not targets provided by the board on what they are - we just hear there is a "project". There is no way we could get CL football with a new club. We have a chance to go for a cup this year - but that would be a great achievement. Next season realistically we need to look at Europe. Maybe the year after for CL at best but more likely the year after. There are lots of 'projects' in front of ours time wise.

Let's face it, Pochettino mightn't be the be all and end all, but he's a good manager. Th problems lie with the owners,, money men with little grasp of the game, and even less of the Premiership, the toughest, and because of that most popular league in the world. To make it work they've hired a couple of 'experts' with the brief to build a team for the future. The whole thing is cockamamy. I remember Ranieri saying how he believed in the need to have a core of native players, to which I'd add a captain like Roy Keane to put some stick about. Instead we've a collection of youngsters from all over the place, most who've never played in the Premiership, and no real leadership on the pitch. To think we could have had Declan Rice for a lot less than we landed up paying for Caicedo, a player who is yet to impress (but who, I'd remind you, you were adamant we must buy), and several very expensive others who spend their time in the crock ward (apparently James is back with them - how predictable was that?). Then we wonder why we flounder. Absurd. Meanwhile, we almost sold Gallagher, the best midfielder we have in order to finance more of this madness. Added to which, we may well get a bigger points deduction than Everton. And if we find ourselves down in the relegation zone can anyone see this lot climbing their way out? Won't that be a laugh? I got hounded when I defended Potter over the custodians. I don't think the difference now between them is now much. If anything Potter had World Cup, a bloated squad, and fan fury of TT getting the sack early on his shoulders. Pochettino has much lesser burden, not even UCL football.

Can blame the manager, and the players but the fact of the matter is this is down to Todd Boehly and Co heavily investing in youth and expecting them to help execute their project. The harsh reality is when people have said Americans ruin the game. This is it. Hindsight is 20/20 but honestly can't see Chelsea being a top club again until 2-3 seasons. The main issue on the field is that chelsea can't compete physically. We aren't physical enough to burst past players, win our challenges or take players on. Who in that 11 can physically match up to people? Dissasi and Badi. Off the field it's utter incompetence focusing on a far future and vanity signings when we need to be good now.
It is easier to develope young players at Brighton or RB Salzburg because there is no pressure to win and there is still older experienced players to rely on.
