I used to make a lot of illustration back then and had the old grey Intuos L, which was necessary for that. After a few years in pre-press production, I am now going back to classic retouching and image editing and trying out the small Intuos S for now.
Yeah, I had the old gray/silver Intuos S and used it for years. I’ve always liked the small size just because it takes us less space and I can keep my hand movements small when retouching.
I have been using the Intuos for a long time, because of it's wonderfully small size, its the perfect coffeeshop and lean back in your recliner chair tablet. However the connection between port and cable is really badly made, gets loose and breaks easily. It doesn't last long. I constantly have to replace it, considering an upgrade because of that.

Just the comparison I needed. I'll go for the pro since besides the more comfortable pen that my hand will surely appreciate, I couldn't buy anything that charges with micro USB nowadays.

I've been using my Wacom Bamboo for a few years. It was great, except that I am a lefty and, as we are used to by now I think, the tablet often bugged out between left/right handed mode. It had its buttons on the side so using it with left in a right handed mode was annoying. Receiving the Intuos small today, can't wait to dive back in again. Thanks for your review! Even though I already bought it, it's nice to know I'm getting bang for my buck.
Yeah, if you are using the normal Intuos it shouldn’t be an issue because the buttons are on the top. Personally I preferred the buttons at the top. Much easier for me to access. Glad you liked the video!

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, for me the pen weight and size were the biggest differences for me. I much prefer the heavier weight and think was of the pen. And one I got used to the express keys on the left, having 6 is nice. Also, and I can’t remember if I mentioned this in the video, but the surface feels a little nicer than the plain Intuos. The pro surface feels a little more slicker and smooth which just feels nicer to me.
cool thing about the intuos pro models, in the medium and large size u can change the surface, u have 3 variants, soft, normal and rough, so if u scrach it or feel like trying another texture, u can swap it very easily. (each surface replacement costs 49 usd tho)
you can turn the Pro by 90 degrees, so you'll have the buttons and the wheel on top again (set properties to "ExpressKeys Top"), not sure, if the usable area becomes too small then for your work
Yeah. I actually tried that once, to see how it felt. But it didn’t really work well because the tablet is tall and the screen is wide. Even after changing the shape of the active area, I couldn’t get used it it.
the pro pen is nicer. also having extra tablet on the right of the drawing area is nice - so your hand doesn’t fall off the edge or make you hover over the tablet. also if you have multiple monitors that you want to map to the tablet- it will decrease the useable drawing area per monitor. i generally suggest the force proportions option which for multiple monitors will also reduce the useable drawing space. wish they had a basic tablet w extra tablet to the right since i primarily use it for navigation / as mouse replacement.
Having another tablet is an idea. I’ve been thinking about getting some kind of mat so my wrist isn’t hovering over the desk when using it. Can you use the same pen on two different tablets? I imagine you could.
The Pro is obviously superior but I chose the regular Intuos for the portability. Fits perfectly in my discreet messenger bag alongside my 13" Macbook Pro.
I like both. I use the pro medium at home. It IS more comfortable to me and I like the extra buttons on the side. I have the regular bluetooth version (small) to bring in the backpack.
That’s probably the best use case. And honestly if I had a bigger work space, I might consider using the medium size. I’m positive that after awhile I would get used to it. But since my desk space is limited, the small will have to do for now.
I have both as well but with the small Bluetooth version, I am having a hard time with the shortcuts, specifically zooming in and changing the top 4 buttons. Can you please tell me how you are zooming in?
Well, as for me, I just zoom in using the keyboard. I use the tablet and keyboard simultaneously and I’ve reconfigured my keyboard shortcuts for my left hand (on the keyboard) doesn’t have to move much when working. I’ve tried using the buttons on the tablet, or the wheel to zoom, but i found it more interrupted my flow because I’d have to take my hand away from the tablet a bit to press the button or more the wheel. So using keys on your keyboard to zoom, allows me to quickly zoom in or out while still keeping my hand and pen on the tablet.

Yeah I know. That really all I wanted to do until I found out they are incapable. That was actually one of the main reasons why I upgraded. I just wanted the thicker, heavier pen. 😅

To be honest, that’s probably the better idea. As I may have mentioned in the video, I have those hand gestures turned off on the Intuos pro. Just because they never felt as responsive as something like a dedicated trackpad, or an iPad. And a lot of times I didn’t register some of my movements. So I just have them always turned off, and just use it for only the pen
You Should Have Covered How The Surface Texture Feels Like On Both, As a traditional artist i cant help but want that grit on the surface for line accuracy i bought a cheap huion tablet but ended up not atchually using it that frequently because i didnt liked the plasticky, slippery texture Also How does the felt tips feel like?? Great review tho i got an overall idea on basic features they offer.
Those are good points. Though I would say both textures do feel similar. With the pro feeling a little harder/slicker. The nice thing about the pro is it does come with a few of the textured nibs which do add a little friction and a tad of texture to the feeling. There is also the Intuos Pro Paper Edition which I think allows you to use your favorite paper on top of the surface and draw on that. But I have really looked into it. Worth checking out if you’re more of a traditional artist. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Does Wacom sell official ones? When I had the regular Intuos I bought some of those rubber or gel like grips you slide over a pen to make the grip a bit thicker. I had to cut a slit for the button though. Didn’t actually use it too long.
I have an Intuos S (Ctl-4100) on Windows 11 and use it with Affinity Photo (among a couple of other apps). This is likely a driver issue but one annoying issue I've seen is that the pen will sometimes continue to apply the tool in question even after it's been lifted, in both Photo and other apps. For example, I can be inpainting in Photo, lift the pen completely off the tablet, touch a menu and when I do, I get a streak of brush from my last location, off the image and toward the direction of the menu as if I had drug the pen that direction. Usually at this point I can't make the tablet / pen stop applying the tool in question and I have to click the mouse. Note, I've tried all sensitivity settings and they make no difference. I prefer it fairly insensitive so it requires a very explicit touch to work. Once again I suspect it's a driver issue, but I'm fully up to date. Just wondering if you've experienced anything like that.
That’s an interesting problem. There have been a few occasions when a tool kind of gets “stuck” on itself. Like you said, I would lift the pen, but it was behaving like I was still pressing it down. Usually I would press the space bar and that would usually fix it. But it happens so infrequently that I just assumed it was bug with Affinity photo. But it may very well be a bug with the tablet. Definitely sounds annoying if it is happening really frequently.
Hello I wanna ask something, does the Wacom intuos pro came with free software? Cause as far as I know the intuos (not the pro version) does give you three like clip studio paint, etc. Thankyou!
That’s a good question. I believe it does come with some software, but on the website it says you get 3 months trials of a few apps. That’s all. I’ve also read that because this is the pro version, it doesn’t come with bundled software, since most of the bundled software is aimed at beginners. So they figure pros, will already be using their own software. Also, haven’t registered my tablet yet, so I don’t have access to the software library. Because I only just use it with affinity photo, and capture one. But from what it sounds like, it may not come with any for free software. Sorry I couldn’t help you out more.

I think both work, so it’s more a preference. I would also consider how much desk space you have for it. Sometimes that’s the deciding factor. But I’ve been using the small size for 7 years and it’s perfect for me.
Hi there. I’m not sure this will work with any phone. As on the computer it needs to download specific drivers for it to work. I looked at it online, and it seems like this won’t work with a mobile device. At least iOS. Not sure about android. It seems some people may have gotten it to work via some work around, but in general it looks like Wacom doesn’t support mobile devices currently. :(

Not a problem. As long as you are able to transfer the photo from your phone to your computer, either via a USB cable, or AirDrop, (depending on what kind of phone and computer you have,) you can use any photo editing software to edit the photo. And honestly, it doesn’t even have to be photo editing software if all you need to do is draw on the photo. You could probably do it in MS paint if you are on Windows, or notepad or Freefeom if you are on Apple iOS /Mac. Basically these tablets operate just like a mouse. So once you have the photo on your computer, you could use your mouse, or a tablet like this to mark up, or draw over the photo as you like.
Definitely! Once you get used to using a tablet to edit Photos in your computer, it’s difficult to go back to using a mouse. It might take a while to get used to, depending on how good your hand eye coordination is, but once you get a feel for it, it makes doing things like drawing, painting, drawing diagrams, etc. so much easier
Do you think Smaller Pen tablets are good enough for Note Taking ? I wanna gift it to my sister who is a professor and its solely for Note taking. She would prefer if its small and cute but im not sure if it will do the job done.
To be honest, if it’s purely for not taking I think something like a iPad or iPad mini might be better suited. I actually just tried taking some note with my wacom tablet while looking at my computer monitor, and while doable, I don’t think it’s really that suited for note taking. Plus if she is using with with her computer, (since these devices must be plugged into a computer) it would probably be faster to just type with the keyboard. These kind of devices are usually used for digital painting, or drawing, and photo manipulation. I think if you want something that is good for note taking something like an iPad mini with the Apple Pencil performs a lot better. Though they are more expensive. I hope this helps.

Well, I think if you just need basic functionality like drawing on screen, making diagrams, then the Wacom Intuos would more than suffice. Both tablets do the exact same thing, and I used the basic Wacom Intuos for years before upgrading to the pro. The main differences are the Pro has more buttons that you can customize, a heavier weighted pen, and I believe more pressure sensitivity levels (something that I never noticed, nor made any difference in my work.) So it you really just need something to make diagrams for a class, the Wacom Intuos will work just fine I believe. And I believe there is a Bluetooth version of it as well.
Well it depends what kind of USB port your tablet has. Some of the older tablets use a USB mini-A I think. You’d have to see what kind of port your tablet has. So you might need a USB mini-A -> USB C cable. But shouldn’t the tablet have a cable included?
hi, i know this video has been a while, i just bought the small Intuos. i have the pro medium. but i wanted the small one for travel. Does the small one let you assign mapping space? like i want to use just a small portion of the tablet and i can set it with the pro but i can't seem to get to a setting where i can assign a smaller workspace on the Intuos small. can i do it? if not i will have to return this small one asap lol
Yeah, you should be able too. Because I did it with my Intuos small (non-pro) It should be in the wacom configuration menu under “mapping.” I show it at the 8:30 minute mark on the video. In the video I show the pro menu, but you can do it with the non-pro, because I remember re-mapping the area and using a little bit smaller area when I was using the Intuos small.
On the Pro, set the scroll wheel to “scroll” in the Wacom setup. There is an option for it. And the non-pro, or the pro for that matter, you could set one of the buttons on the pen to scroll. So you would hold the button down on the pen, and move the pen up or down to scroll the screen.

Hi! No, unfortunately I don’t. My best guess would be maybe in September (back to school sale) or Black Friday? But I really have no idea. They could go on sale next week, or next year. You could also look into getting a used on on Craigslists or EBay. I’m sure there are people selling them all the time.
I think once you get used to using a tablet, it’s really hard to go back! Lol. I still use a mouse for my normal computer work, but use a tablet for 100% of my photo retouching work. I do know that some people use a tablet to replace a mouse for normal type computer work. Glad you like it!
I usually change them when I feel like it’s become uneven. So normally the tip is round. But after a lot of use (and depending on how hard you press down) the rounded tip might start to wear down and become a little flat. It doesn’t have any difference in performance but you can feel that the tip has an edge to it and it might feel a little odd when using it sometimes. But I’ll usually go months depending on use before I change it.
That’s a good question. Having not used the older version of the pro, it looks like it has the same features as the new one, it’s just bigger. I guess it also depends on how much cheaper a used one is. There hasn’t been any drastic changes to the technology over the years so even if you buy the older version, it was still work the same and do what you need it to do. It would definitely be cool to compare many of the different models, but since I’ve only ever used these two, and started with the non-pro, then upgraded to the pro it was easy for me to make this comparison video. But I feel, depending on your work, almost any wacom will do fine. I personally never really noticed the jump in pressure sensitivity. But that’s mainly because im doing portrait retouching and it’s not something that I use a lot. But, if you’re doing more digital art, more pressure sensitivity might be more important for you.
If money isn’t an issue, then I would definitely go with the pro. It’s built a little more sturdier, has a nicer pen (I prefer the thicker heavier pen) and more buttons. Plus it’s wireless. But as far as usability, it operates the same. It’s kind of like a mouse. A $10 mouse, and a $100 mouse are going to do the exact same thing. And having the more expensive mouse isn’t going to somehow make your mouse clicking better lol. But it’s more about preference, function, and comfortability. The more expensive mouse might have more buttons, or feel better in your hand, or have better battery life, etc. But as far as moving the cursor around and clicking, it does the exact same thing as a cheaper mouse. I think the difference between the Intuos and the Pro are like that. Both will allow you to do what you need to do pretty much exactly the same. So in the end, it’s more about preference, and of course money. I used the normal Intuos for many years before upgrading. And the main reason, was after using the pro at a friends work, I really preferred the weight and thickness of the Pro pen. And unfortunately, you just couldn’t buy a pro pen to work with the normal Intuos. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend trying them out at a store or something. Perhaps you might prefer the lighter thinner pan. Or you might prefer the way Intuos has the the buttons at the top, as a post to the side on the Pro. Sorry for the long reply. Hope this helps.
Are you taking about a tablet like and iPad? If you are using a tablet you’ll need to be using affinity photo on that. A wacom is better if you are using it on a PC or Mac.
Hi there. Well, I use the small size on a 27 inch screen and I think it’s perfect. I think the size of your screen doesn’t matter as much, as how much you want to move your hand on the tablet. Think about it like a mouse. Depending on the sensitivity settings of your mouse, you can move from the left side of your screen to the right side of your screen with just a small movement from your hand. Or, you can set it where you have to move your hand quite a bit to get the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.
Well, to “draw” with the tablet the pen has to touch the surface of the tablet. If you hover over the tablet it moves to cursor. Pressing on the tablet is like clicking and holding the mouse button down and moving the mouse around. Hovering over the tablet is like moving the mouse (without pressing the button) Does that make sense?
Dude I've searched for so long for a tablet I go to an Amazon resaler and find so much stuff qnd I've found 4 from there a Wacom one I think medium size but my main one is a ugee large tablet and it's so good I tried the small ones and couldn't use it at all but I paid 5$ for them and I have two others I forgot the name of I had the xp pen and it was also too small for me

Hey there! Honestly, I haven’t noticed any difference between the two in terms of lag. I honestly don’t really sense any lag at all. As far as using a mouse for doing graphics, I also have the magic mouse 2 which I love because of the swipe, and 2D scrolling. But using a tablet and pen for retouching, or painting in a graphics program is like night and day. Once you get used to using a tablet and pen, there’s no turning back. But it might also depend on the kind of work you are doing. What kind of work would you be using it for?
Yeah. If you are going to be masking, and especially dodge and burning (I also use capture one for my raw processing and color and exposure correction, but affinity photo for retouching and dodge and burn) then a tablet will definitely help. It make take some getting used to, but once you do, you’ll wonder how you were masking and dodge and burning without it. So I use both the wacom tablet and Magic Mouse together. Sometimes adjusting things like sliders are easier with the mouse, but any kind of painting or “brush work” type movements are so much easier with the wacom.

Sorry for the late reply. Well, I use both. I use capture one for my RAW processing and color and exposure corrections/adjustments. Then the pictures that need to be retouched I bring into affinity photo. There I can do things that can’t be done in capture one. Like pixel editing, liquification, and other effects. Most of my work is portrait/beauty/fitness work. So there is a lot of retouching that needs to be done to clean up the skin, fix flyaways in hair, fix wardrobe, remove weird shadows, sometimes replace the background, etc. And for those things I need the affinity photo. But in Capture One, I can batch process all the images. I try to get the images looking as good as they can in Capture One for the client, so they can pic the ones that need to be retouched/edited.
That’s a tough question. If you come from a painting background, you might feel more comfortable with a bigger tablet. I have a lot of friends who work in digital art (animation, background painting, etc..) and they all have the bigger tablets. A lot of them also use the ones where the screen is a tablet. So they are drawing directly on the screen in a sense. But those are pretty expensive. If I was just starting out, I might recommend the non-pro version. Maybe the medium size (or large if you have the room.) I used the non-pro version for many years before upgrading. But if price really isn’t an issue, I’d probably go for the pro. But if you have the chance I’d see if there was somewhere you can test them out. Get a feel for the size difference, weight of the pens, and overall feel.
So I have a UGEE tablet, and when I hold the stylus naturally and try to double click, it drags instead of tapping. I'm thinking it's just the way how the stylus nibs glides and/or how the nib very lightly has freedom in the stylus....I guess it's called drifting. Does that happen with the Intuos Pro stylus? Or am I just a sloppy stylus user? LOL
Hi there! Hmm, I can see what you mean, especially since the nib does have a little bit of "wiggle room" inside the pen. But honestly it's something I've never had an issue with. I was even just trying out a few double clicks after reading your comment, and didn't have any drifting. Using the pen, especially to kind of replace a mouse does take a little practice, to get the timing and feeling down. And there are sometimes, that I'll use a mouse for certain tasks because it's a little more accurate. I guess if you have an opportunity to try out a Wacom, you can see if the issue is still there or if it's just a qwerk with the UGEE. (I've never used one, so don't have much input.)
@@brgphotography Oh I'm sure there will be. Build quality is like close, just seems a little lighter. Not wireless, which I really don't care either way if it's wireless or not. The buttons are definitely different. Ugee does have good tactile, but there are no indicator bordes or dots to differentiate them. I had to use mod podge create droplet beads lol. I've found a Pro Pen 2 for $40, just waiting for it to be shipped. I can't wait to try it. This thing is HUGE though!
@@brgphotography So I just got my Pen pro 2, and I will say that the quality is unmatched. Ugee is a great beginner tablet to get accustomed to how a tablet will operate, but drifting issue when it comes to double tapping items inso longer happening. I guess you really do get what you pay for lol
Yeah, it’s definitely more than a little bit more expensive. That’s actually one of the main reasons why I used the original for so long. And not everyone needs the small upgrades the pro offers over the original. So I think the Intuos will be more than enough for most users.
That’s correct. The normal Intuos doesn’t have any touch functionality. But to be honest, I always have the touch functionality turned off on my Pro. It’s nowhere near as sensor and accurate as something like a laptop touch pad or an iPad.

Yeah. I personally didn’t like the way it goes off to one side. Always got on the way. And the only USB connector type is fragile like you said.

The Pro is obviously superior but I chose the regular Intuos for the portability. Fits perfectly in my discreet messenger bag alongside my 13" Macbook Pro.
Yeah. The regular is smaller and lighter, and definitely perfect for work on the go.

I use the pro medium at home. It IS more comfortable to me and I like the extra buttons on the side.
I have the regular bluetooth version (small) to bring in the backpack.
That’s probably the best use case. And honestly if I had a bigger work space, I might consider using the medium size. I’m positive that after awhile I would get used to it. But since my desk space is limited, the small will have to do for now.
I have both as well but with the small Bluetooth version, I am having a hard time with the shortcuts, specifically zooming in and changing the top 4 buttons. Can you please tell me how you are zooming in?
Well, as for me, I just zoom in using the keyboard. I use the tablet and keyboard simultaneously and I’ve reconfigured my keyboard shortcuts for my left hand (on the keyboard) doesn’t have to move much when working.
I’ve tried using the buttons on the tablet, or the wheel to zoom, but i found it more interrupted my flow because I’d have to take my hand away from the tablet a bit to press the button or more the wheel.
So using keys on your keyboard to zoom, allows me to quickly zoom in or out while still keeping my hand and pen on the tablet.
@@warevol Honestly, I don't use those 4 buttons for zooming. When I am on the road I always zoom in with the mousepad of the laptop.

To be honest, that’s probably the better idea. As I may have mentioned in the video, I have those hand gestures turned off on the Intuos pro. Just because they never felt as responsive as something like a dedicated trackpad, or an iPad. And a lot of times I didn’t register some of my movements. So I just have them always turned off, and just use it for only the pen
You Should Have Covered How The Surface Texture Feels Like On Both, As a traditional artist i cant help but want that grit on the surface for line accuracy i bought a cheap huion tablet but ended up not atchually using it that frequently because i didnt liked the plasticky, slippery texture Also How does the felt tips feel like?? Great review tho i got an overall idea on basic features they offer.
Those are good points. Though I would say both textures do feel similar. With the pro feeling a little harder/slicker. The nice thing about the pro is it does come with a few of the textured nibs which do add a little friction and a tad of texture to the feeling.
There is also the Intuos Pro Paper Edition which I think allows you to use your favorite paper on top of the surface and draw on that. But I have really looked into it. Worth checking out if you’re more of a traditional artist.

You can get pen grips to make the regular intuos a bit bigger.
Does Wacom sell official ones?
When I had the regular Intuos I bought some of those rubber or gel like grips you slide over a pen to make the grip a bit thicker. I had to cut a slit for the button though. Didn’t actually use it too long.

I have an Intuos S (Ctl-4100) on Windows 11 and use it with Affinity Photo (among a couple of other apps). This is likely a driver issue but one annoying issue I've seen is that the pen will sometimes continue to apply the tool in question even after it's been lifted, in both Photo and other apps. For example, I can be inpainting in Photo, lift the pen completely off the tablet, touch a menu and when I do, I get a streak of brush from my last location, off the image and toward the direction of the menu as if I had drug the pen that direction. Usually at this point I can't make the tablet / pen stop applying the tool in question and I have to click the mouse. Note, I've tried all sensitivity settings and they make no difference. I prefer it fairly insensitive so it requires a very explicit touch to work. Once again I suspect it's a driver issue, but I'm fully up to date. Just wondering if you've experienced anything like that.
That’s an interesting problem. There have been a few occasions when a tool kind of gets “stuck” on itself. Like you said, I would lift the pen, but it was behaving like I was still pressing it down. Usually I would press the space bar and that would usually fix it.
But it happens so infrequently that I just assumed it was bug with Affinity photo. But it may very well be a bug with the tablet.
Definitely sounds annoying if it is happening really frequently.

That’s a good question. I believe it does come with some software, but on the website it says you get 3 months trials of a few apps. That’s all.
I’ve also read that because this is the pro version, it doesn’t come with bundled software, since most of the bundled software is aimed at beginners. So they figure pros, will already be using their own software.
Also, haven’t registered my tablet yet, so I don’t have access to the software library. Because I only just use it with affinity photo, and capture one.
But from what it sounds like, it may not come with any for free software.

I think both work, so it’s more a preference. I would also consider how much desk space you have for it. Sometimes that’s the deciding factor.
But I’ve been using the small size for 7 years and it’s perfect for me.

Hi there. I’m not sure this will work with any phone. As on the computer it needs to download specific drivers for it to work.
I looked at it online, and it seems like this won’t work with a mobile device. At least iOS. Not sure about android. It seems some people may have gotten it to work via some work around, but in general it looks like Wacom doesn’t support mobile devices currently. :(

Not a problem.
As long as you are able to transfer the photo from your phone to your computer, either via a USB cable, or AirDrop, (depending on what kind of phone and computer you have,) you can use any photo editing software to edit the photo.
And honestly, it doesn’t even have to be photo editing software if all you need to do is draw on the photo. You could probably do it in MS paint if you are on Windows, or notepad or Freefeom if you are on Apple iOS /Mac.
Basically these tablets operate just like a mouse. So once you have the photo on your computer, you could use your mouse, or a tablet like this to mark up, or draw over the photo as you like.

Definitely! Once you get used to using a tablet to edit Photos in your computer, it’s difficult to go back to using a mouse. It might take a while to get used to, depending on how good your hand eye coordination is, but once you get a feel for it, it makes doing things like drawing, painting, drawing diagrams, etc. so much easier
Do you think Smaller Pen tablets are good enough for Note Taking ? I wanna gift it to my sister who is a professor and its solely for Note taking. She would prefer if its small and cute but im not sure if it will do the job done.
To be honest, if it’s purely for not taking I think something like a iPad or iPad mini might be better suited.
I actually just tried taking some note with my wacom tablet while looking at my computer monitor, and while doable, I don’t think it’s really that suited for note taking. Plus if she is using with with her computer, (since these devices must be plugged into a computer) it would probably be faster to just type with the keyboard.
These kind of devices are usually used for digital painting, or drawing, and photo manipulation. I think if you want something that is good for note taking something like an iPad mini with the Apple Pencil performs a lot better. Though they are more expensive.

Well, I think if you just need basic functionality like drawing on screen, making diagrams, then the Wacom Intuos would more than suffice.
Both tablets do the exact same thing, and I used the basic Wacom Intuos for years before upgrading to the pro. The main differences are the Pro has more buttons that you can customize, a heavier weighted pen, and I believe more pressure sensitivity levels (something that I never noticed, nor made any difference in my work.)
So it you really just need something to make diagrams for a class, the Wacom Intuos will work just fine I believe. And I believe there is a Bluetooth version of it as well.

I think all of them are power via USB, so you shouldn’t need any power supply. They are all powered through the USB cable.

Well it depends what kind of USB port your tablet has. Some of the older tablets use a USB mini-A I think. You’d have to see what kind of port your tablet has. So you might need a USB mini-A -> USB C cable.

hi, i know this video has been a while, i just bought the small Intuos. i have the pro medium. but i wanted the small one for travel. Does the small one let you assign mapping space? like i want to use just a small portion of the tablet and i can set it with the pro but i can't seem to get to a setting where i can assign a smaller workspace on the Intuos small. can i do it? if not i will have to return this small one asap lol
Yeah, you should be able too. Because I did it with my Intuos small (non-pro)
It should be in the wacom configuration menu under “mapping.” I show it at the 8:30 minute mark on the video. In the video I show the pro menu, but you can do it with the non-pro, because I remember re-mapping the area and using a little bit smaller area when I was using the Intuos small.
How do you scroll? Like a website for example?
On the Pro, set the scroll wheel to “scroll” in the Wacom setup. There is an option for it.
And the non-pro, or the pro for that matter, you could set one of the buttons on the pen to scroll. So you would hold the button down on the pen, and move the pen up or down to scroll the screen.

I like to use a small tablet for everything because my wrist gets tired from using a mouse.
I think once you get used to using a tablet, it’s really hard to go back! Lol.
I still use a mouse for my normal computer work, but use a tablet for 100% of my photo retouching work.

I usually change them when I feel like it’s become uneven. So normally the tip is round. But after a lot of use (and depending on how hard you press down) the rounded tip might start to wear down and become a little flat. It doesn’t have any difference in performance but you can feel that the tip has an edge to it and it might feel a little odd when using it sometimes.
But I’ll usually go months depending on use before I change it.

That’s a good question. Having not used the older version of the pro, it looks like it has the same features as the new one, it’s just bigger. I guess it also depends on how much cheaper a used one is.
There hasn’t been any drastic changes to the technology over the years so even if you buy the older version, it was still work the same and do what you need it to do.

It would definitely be cool to compare many of the different models, but since I’ve only ever used these two, and started with the non-pro, then upgraded to the pro it was easy for me to make this comparison video.
But I feel, depending on your work, almost any wacom will do fine. I personally never really noticed the jump in pressure sensitivity. But that’s mainly because im doing portrait retouching and it’s not something that I use a lot. But, if you’re doing more digital art, more pressure sensitivity might be more important for you.

That’s a good question. Though, if I remember the pro pen didn’t work with the normal Intuos, so I would image the slim pro pen wouldn’t work either.

I’m torn between one by Wacom and the Intuos. Which one would you suggest?
If money isn’t an issue, then I would definitely go with the pro. It’s built a little more sturdier, has a nicer pen (I prefer the thicker heavier pen) and more buttons. Plus it’s wireless.
But as far as usability, it operates the same. It’s kind of like a mouse. A $10 mouse, and a $100 mouse are going to do the exact same thing. And having the more expensive mouse isn’t going to somehow make your mouse clicking better lol. But it’s more about preference, function, and comfortability. The more expensive mouse might have more buttons, or feel better in your hand, or have better battery life, etc. But as far as moving the cursor around and clicking, it does the exact same thing as a cheaper mouse.
I think the difference between the Intuos and the Pro are like that. Both will allow you to do what you need to do pretty much exactly the same. So in the end, it’s more about preference, and of course money.
I used the normal Intuos for many years before upgrading. And the main reason, was after using the pro at a friends work, I really preferred the weight and thickness of the Pro pen. And unfortunately, you just couldn’t buy a pro pen to work with the normal Intuos.
If you have the opportunity, I would recommend trying them out at a store or something. Perhaps you might prefer the lighter thinner pan. Or you might prefer the way Intuos has the the buttons at the top, as a post to the side on the Pro.

Are you taking about a tablet like and iPad? If you are using a tablet you’ll need to be using affinity photo on that. A wacom is better if you are using it on a PC or Mac.

Hi there. Well, I use the small size on a 27 inch screen and I think it’s perfect. I think the size of your screen doesn’t matter as much, as how much you want to move your hand on the tablet.
Think about it like a mouse. Depending on the sensitivity settings of your mouse, you can move from the left side of your screen to the right side of your screen with just a small movement from your hand. Or, you can set it where you have to move your hand quite a bit to get the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.

Well, to “draw” with the tablet the pen has to touch the surface of the tablet. If you hover over the tablet it moves to cursor. Pressing on the tablet is like clicking and holding the mouse button down and moving the mouse around. Hovering over the tablet is like moving the mouse (without pressing the button)

Dude I've searched for so long for a tablet I go to an Amazon resaler and find so much stuff qnd I've found 4 from there a Wacom one I think medium size but my main one is a ugee large tablet and it's so good I tried the small ones and couldn't use it at all but I paid 5$ for them and I have two others I forgot the name of I had the xp pen and it was also too small for me
Yeah, there are so many options out there now. Definitely size is a preference.

Hey there! Honestly, I haven’t noticed any difference between the two in terms of lag. I honestly don’t really sense any lag at all.
As far as using a mouse for doing graphics, I also have the magic mouse 2 which I love because of the swipe, and 2D scrolling. But using a tablet and pen for retouching, or painting in a graphics program is like night and day. Once you get used to using a tablet and pen, there’s no turning back.
But it might also depend on the kind of work you are doing. What kind of work would you be using it for?

Yeah. If you are going to be masking, and especially dodge and burning (I also use capture one for my raw processing and color and exposure correction, but affinity photo for retouching and dodge and burn) then a tablet will definitely help.
It make take some getting used to, but once you do, you’ll wonder how you were masking and dodge and burning without it.
So I use both the wacom tablet and Magic Mouse together. Sometimes adjusting things like sliders are easier with the mouse, but any kind of painting or “brush work” type movements are so much easier with the wacom.

Well, I use both. I use capture one for my RAW processing and color and exposure corrections/adjustments. Then the pictures that need to be retouched I bring into affinity photo. There I can do things that can’t be done in capture one. Like pixel editing, liquification, and other effects.
Most of my work is portrait/beauty/fitness work. So there is a lot of retouching that needs to be done to clean up the skin, fix flyaways in hair, fix wardrobe, remove weird shadows, sometimes replace the background, etc. And for those things I need the affinity photo.
But in Capture One, I can batch process all the images. I try to get the images looking as good as they can in Capture One for the client, so they can pic the ones that need to be retouched/edited.
As a beginner in digital art which version of wacom you will suggest to buy?
That’s a tough question. If you come from a painting background, you might feel more comfortable with a bigger tablet. I have a lot of friends who work in digital art (animation, background painting, etc..) and they all have the bigger tablets. A lot of them also use the ones where the screen is a tablet. So they are drawing directly on the screen in a sense. But those are pretty expensive.
If I was just starting out, I might recommend the non-pro version. Maybe the medium size (or large if you have the room.) I used the non-pro version for many years before upgrading. But if price really isn’t an issue, I’d probably go for the pro.
But if you have the chance I’d see if there was somewhere you can test them out. Get a feel for the size difference, weight of the pens, and overall feel.
So I have a UGEE tablet, and when I hold the stylus naturally and try to double click, it drags instead of tapping. I'm thinking it's just the way how the stylus nibs glides and/or how the nib very lightly has freedom in the stylus....I guess it's called drifting. Does that happen with the Intuos Pro stylus? Or am I just a sloppy stylus user? LOL
Hi there! Hmm, I can see what you mean, especially since the nib does have a little bit of "wiggle room" inside the pen. But honestly it's something I've never had an issue with. I was even just trying out a few double clicks after reading your comment, and didn't have any drifting.
Using the pen, especially to kind of replace a mouse does take a little practice, to get the timing and feeling down. And there are sometimes, that I'll use a mouse for certain tasks because it's a little more accurate.
I guess if you have an opportunity to try out a Wacom, you can see if the issue is still there or if it's just a qwerk with the UGEE. (I've never used one, so don't have much input.)

@@brgphotography Oh I'm sure there will be. Build quality is like close, just seems a little lighter. Not wireless, which I really don't care either way if it's wireless or not. The buttons are definitely different. Ugee does have good tactile, but there are no indicator bordes or dots to differentiate them. I had to use mod podge create droplet beads lol. I've found a Pro Pen 2 for $40, just waiting for it to be shipped. I can't wait to try it. This thing is HUGE though!

A little bit more expensive ? Hello, Intuos Pro is 3-4 times more expensive than the Intuos. That "little bit" alone is a big NO for me.
Yeah, it’s definitely more than a little bit more expensive. That’s actually one of the main reasons why I used the original for so long. And not everyone needs the small upgrades the pro offers over the original. So I think the Intuos will be more than enough for most users.

That’s correct. The normal Intuos doesn’t have any touch functionality.
But to be honest, I always have the touch functionality turned off on my Pro. It’s nowhere near as sensor and accurate as something like a laptop touch pad or an iPad.
