Del Toro is a top class filmmaker and after the two "flops" of trying to resurrect the Hellboy IP on big screen, I couldnt stop myself wondering about another universe where Del Toro completed his trilogy. Great vid as always
*"What Could Have Been: The Unmade VACATION Films"* • Shortly after making *"National Lampoon's European Vacation",* Chevy Chase & co-star/Monty Python star Eric Idle worked on a script called *"Australian Vacation",* but as Eric Idle stated, "We spend some time working together on it. It had some nice shark gags, but I can't pretend it is in any way finished". It would later resurface in the '90s as a potential 5th film, but it never came to be. • Another story idea conceived by Chevy Chase & Beverly D'Angelo was *"Swiss Family Griswold"* where the Griswolds bail out of a cruise ship (due to a misunderstanding involving a little fire) and end up on a island where they meet Cousin Eddie who was left behind after an old *"Survivor"* series. • In the 2010s, *"Smallville"* actor Michael Rosenbaum was developing a sequel film which dealt with Clark & Ellen Griswold divorcing, before they slowly rekindle their relationship as they are forced to drive to Audrey's wedding in Arizona together.
I'm amazed that the movie director wanted to do a comic book adaptation of Hellboy 3. And I'm enraged that the comic creator thinks it would be too confusing. WTF, dude? Thank you for the first two, excellent movies, Del Toro.
I wish we got the conclusion to the trilogy, however the 2nd one has a ending where despite not getting a 3rd film it serves as a satisfying ending with Hellboy & Liz leaving the Bureau and going off to settle down and start a family
Man you don't know how really hurt me that this sequel never came. This franchise has so much potential and so much hearth and even I can see that even surpass the source material. This was the Batman TAS for Hellboy as Batman TAS was for Batman. I hope that we can see this in animated movie direct for cinema obviously.
This, along with Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4, is one of the biggest missed opportunities for me growing up. Sequels made by talented filmmakers that never saw the light of day because of behind the scenes tomfoolery. Also, Mr. Mignola, how do you explain the Hellboy Animated comics, huh? I was a kid when those came out, and I could tell the difference between them and the regular Hellboy comics. Audiences aren't stupid and can tell what's what and what isn't. Really, seeing any conclusion in any medium would have been better than nothing.
Ah crap, this would've been amazing! It sounded like it was the blueprint for the comic series Hellboy in Hell. Hearing this it probably would've been amazing. At lead (IMO) Hellboy: The Crooked Man was pretty good. At least to me
If anything with The Crooked Man, it was at least a smarter move to go more stripped back and getting the mood again compared to the previous attempt which was very much discordant to the material by comparison. Hell, even say what you will about Del Toro's films, but even those better honored a sense of intrigue and moody design.
It’s disappointing to not get the third movie but do wonder if they were ever open to doing an animated movie to finish off the trilogy. It doesn’t beat live action but fixes the biggest issues the actors had with the makeup and the passage of time, plus would make it easier for Blair to return
I also hear Bruce Campbell would have appeared as the Nazi punching pulp hero Lobster Johnson… Johnson, Hellboy, and possibly Kroenen all in one movie, truly one of the most robbed movie experiences of all time
Del Toro is an incredible visionary I absolutely love his movies it's such a shame he didn't do a hell boy 3 especially now with the technology in the movie industry if you combine that with practical effects it would be an amazing watch
This hits hard... almost as hard as At The Mountains of Madness. Almost. This is especially true considering the "reboot". I think the second film is good, considering it's budget. It may not be great, but the spirit and heart are there. The quotes from director Neil Marshall are awful. What a complete a**hole (and hack - he made one good film). Saying nothing is often the best choice. The reboot, though - It's not good. I like what I've seen and know about David Harbour and the quote featured in this video seems off (and it's not wholly true). The film was a failure because it's bad. Granted, that doesn't stop many other films (or music, or books, or...) from being financially successful. As an aside, Hellboy II could've made a wonderful limited series. I felt it was rushed and needed to be longer.
What gets me is the creator turning down the idea to turn the script for the third movie into a comic book. That’s a fantastic idea but and him saying that it would confuse comic book readers is just dumb. Comic book readers are use to there being multiple versions of a single character going at a time, it wouldn’t have confused anyone. Sounds to me like he just didn’t want to do which is really a shame
Mignola is great, but I think he’s wrong about the confusion. Hellboy has had many spinoffs over the years. And so many other series have alternate universes and movie tie ins, I really don’t think comic fans would be lost

One of the greatest tragedies in film history is not getting the final movie of this trilogy 😢😭😭😭😭😭
Perlman said he still down to do hellboy 3 cause the fans deserve it

Yesss!! I been waiting for this one! Thank you and keep on going! Your videos are amazing and so informative
this one still hurts, there's still potential to end Perlman's hellboy with hellboy's twin children as the focal point of the story though
I still think if they can’t get Perlman in the makeup one more time they could do an animated conclusion.

Can you do Guillermo Del Toro’s cancel projects please or Tim Burton’s canceled movies
Sure

I've been waiting for this a long time. Thank you.
My older brother met the actor of Hellboy back in 2018.
They should let André Øvredal have the chance
He already worked with Del Toro in "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark"
They should still make it
make the third one as a cartoon
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
the wait is over!
Wow that would 😍 be awesome 👌 😊😅
2:17 video starts
I also hear Bruce Campbell would have appeared as the Nazi punching pulp hero Lobster Johnson… Johnson, Hellboy, and possibly Kroenen all in one movie, truly one of the most robbed movie experiences of all time
Couldn't they just do an animated film for the 3rd. I mean its sad to say the cast are getting older physicly but they still have their voices.
Del Toro is an incredible visionary I absolutely love his movies it's such a shame he didn't do a hell boy 3 especially now with the technology in the movie industry if you combine that with practical effects it would be an amazing watch
Great video next request, Toy Story 3 Whodunit, Family Blended, JJ Abrams' Star Wars VIII and Circle 7 Monsters Inc Sequel and Finding Nemo Sequel
Thank you!!!!!!❤❤
What Could Have Been: Guillermo del Toro’s Halo Movie

I Remember Watching Hellboy 1 and 2 I enjoyed them and I’m still sad that there wasn’t a third Movie Made.
I wanted Hellboy 3 so bad
Can you please do Sasha Calle’s Supergirl movie
Shin Godzilla sequel plans?
I've been waiting for this one . Thank you.
The potential for the 3rd one 😔
Hellboy 2 came out same time as dark knight so that put a huge dent in its performance
"A huge dent on it's performance."
😅
Im still waiting for hellboy 3😔

I mean with today’s CGI couldn’t they just put a motion capture suit on another actor use Pearlman’s face and voice to make the third ?
I hate that these videos are only ever 8 minutes long because 2 1/2 are dedicated to an ad 😒
This is the 7th time we’ve had a stupid ad at the beginning of his videos. I’m getting really frustrated with them too.
Everybody needs to eat guys.
@Whatacomedian_ yeah, but does the ad NEED to be a significant portion of the video???? No. No, it does not.
Bit of a out their idea but can you talk about what could have been the 3rd SpongeBob SquarePants movie
But instead we got a stinker of a reboot after another
Mignola is great, but I think he’s wrong about the confusion. Hellboy has had many spinoffs over the years. And so many other series have alternate universes and movie tie ins, I really don’t think comic fans would be lost
Yeah, that's a baffling statement by Mignola. It's as if he has no idea what industry that he works in.
@ I mean in fairness hellboy doesn’t partake in that as much but still
For the love of God please
They don’t finance this but they finance Red One and Kraven.🤦♂️
Love this video really enjoyed it. But not the stupid 2 minute ad at the beginning. Lose the ads in your videos please nobody cares about them!
Animate it.
This makes me hate Migola so much
Bullets snd blockbusters wou you ever be wllingbto dicacuss abut blade 4 th unmadd sequl to blade trnity
Sure
Disappointed Mike Mignola refuses to acknowledge a chunk of his fanbase. You lost some points there, bucky.
Why would anyone want to smell like a hint of tobacco?
3 minute squad
theres no pleasing people you gave them a good movie nobody wants to see it funk you hollywood fans.
First
Yeah, 2 min commercial, not a wise choice. "Do not recommend channel"
Not a lot of information in this one. Kinda pointless video
If they made it now a days it'd be woke, they would have to change the name to "Heck Boy".
Love the parody sponsor!
