Cheers all Deadheads worldwide, all you guys who were young in the late 60's and throughout the 70's, i wish i could be part of your generation, but i was born in 97, too late haha, anyways, cheers guys and girls, long live the Dead !
graduated in '71...love the licks. Miss the guys who are not with us anymore..."my back door someday"...I wish I was a headlight, well, you know the rest. peace.
(Graduated in '77?) We are still everywhere! Who is Mr. Natural and why does he keep following me? One of these days I'm going to leave this Broken Down Palace......but not today. Peace & Prosperity ⛩
I'm the furthest one can be from a Dead head who has attended three shows. The live shows are amazing. That's a cliche among music heads. The guitarists play together perfectly for my ear. God bless the GF who are indeed gone.
Except he wasn't singing about you, I don't think. Rider is an old country term for a partner, someone you love and spend your days with. If you had a romantic relationship with Jerry then I stand corrected lol.
Summer 1973 my first show. Jerry played with NRPS who opened for Leon Russel. 8 November, 1979 1980-1981-1982-1983-1984 June 27th Merriweather '84 Little Red Rooster, Why don't we do it in the Road, Morning Dew! 30 June 1985- 1st July 1985 MDMA was legal on the 30th of June. The next day they passed the Designer Drug Law. But the boys played killer sets both nights. On the 30th they opened with MHS, and pulled Keep on Growing out to everyones delight. And then Bobby rendered a soulful Looks Like Rain. On the first they treated us to a Duprees Diamond Blues, Jack-a-Row, Stagger Lee and Let it Grow in the first set. (Made me happy!) 1986-1987-1988 My last show at Buckeye Lake Music Center 25th June 1988. Comes a Time to get off the bus. RIP The Dead played several outstanding shows in the early eighties on the east cost. Most memorable for me were the shows at Richmond 1985 on the fall tour. First and Second of November, and the multiple shows they pulled off in Columbia Maryland. Especially the one they opened with Casey Jones, but the Richmond shows were absolutely magical. Too hard to put into words. Psychic/Spiritual...a band beyond description! Genevieve Whitaker thanks for opening the door at Richmond. I was carrying that big bottle of wine. Remember? Where have you and your brother David been? Love you two with all my heart. Steven from Laurel
Relate to the lyrics so hard! Im in the bay want the march winds to blow my troubles away in colorado. its march and i have a place to live in colorado and women only seem to want me when im leaving
You can hear this song live a band called hyryder right now in 2020 I just seen them last week and they played the song in concert it is bad as hell you have to see hyryder
I was fortunate enough to have seen the Dead 6 times the summer that I was 15, They played China Rider at one show. I will never forget that year. Yes Sa
I can't think of a possible reason to dislike this song. Maybe, just maybe, if I leap to conclusions; I can figure they like another version better. Then I think to myself, hell; I like other versions better. Those people just don't get it and never will.
Thanks for the up it's awesome, but a couple of points....... Point number one: THIS IS NOT A GRATEFUL DEAD SONG! This is a blues standard that The Dead covers (beautifully!). Point number two: This audio is slowed down. The voices are way too low and slow! It's especially apparent at the end of the song when the crowd kicks in. I'm guessing old tape quality suffered over time. While I'm all for the raw sound, distorted and inaccurately depicted versions of a song due to bad rips don't count. It could be fixed with software, just to get the key correct and nothing else, and we'd have a winner.
Garcia said he heard it in the coffee houses and folk clubs he used to frequent. Doesn't remember who taught it to him so its possible he just learned it himself through practice and memory, and altered the lyrics and arrangement to suit him and the band. "I just always liked the song, no matter who played it," he said.
i wish CA was still this cool. these days its mostly ruthless d bags in the big cities and burned out poor as hell hippies if anything in the country. THIS is liberalism. I think I prefer Reagan. Jesus, people.
I was born in 71 love the dead. Great times
We aged. Like fine wine. Peace, all. Love each other.

Well he was right about that, we miss him now that he's gone.

I wish I was a headlight on a northbound train

The sun will shine in my backyard someday

1970 was 50 years ago. Pretty mindblowing.
I came within an inch of my life from being abducted by the Grateful Dead at age 19 in Des Moines Iowa, 1978! The truth...
Faith Parent
How did you manage to fuck that up then?
I would've given my nuts to be dragged behind the grateful dead tour bus by a chain, just to go on tour with the deadheads once.
Should have gotten on the bus!
pity - can't find no cd with this title - only a book

what is the actual date of this show?

Was this 5/30/71?
I was looking for the Vintage Dead version of this song. This is not it.
Bruce Hornsby covered this.

Is this out of China?
Lessons in English grammar very well could be beneficial to you.
Devian Lystad 😂😂😂😂😂 well said, but alas grammatically poor.
Too much jamming going on. You would have to be high to stomach this
Or a lover of good music. ;-)
You buy the ticket, you take the trip! Happy Trails family.
