He doesn't want to wait. He lied to her. He doesn't want anymore children. They have been married as Muslims longer than they have been on the show and also longer than the 2 year wait for her to come here. It's been about 4 years now.

Baby is not for everyone. It may be easy to make baby for some people but doesn’t work for other people. I have been married for 5 years and we want to have baby but didn’t happen. She need to take it easy, and enjoy her life. No need to worry too much for something she can’t control.

OMG, you said it! So much syrup in these comments, let's not forget these "dates" are also an attempt to excuse delaying, possibly forever, Shaeeds deepest wish, a baby. You can hire a sitter and have date nights after a baby comes.
Also, unless you're buying me a new car, I don't like surprises either. They seem like a kind of passive control, the kind where they take control and you have to thank them for it, whether you are wild about the surprise or not, otherwise you're ungrateful. I like to play a role in decisions about how I spend my time.
