I had never heard of Gerry Guthrie until someone sent me the link to "There's A New Moon Over My Shoulder," and I was so surprised and impressed by how good it was. I feel the same way about this song. I'm not only the author of a 672-page book called "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story," I also have owned an indie record label for the past 16 years, and have released CDs containing overdubs of various artists, including Jim. So I have worked on "There's A New Moon..." for a Reeves release, and we added a Latin rhythm, strings and horns to Jim's original vocal track. Therefore, I was intrigued by Gerry's treatment, which gave the song a Western Swing feeling. I also am surprised that despite the fact he is apparently from Ireland, he does not even have a trace of an Irish accent. He sounds like an American artist. (I hope no one regards that as an insult!) I also noticed from his various videos that he has older musicians in his band in addition to younger guys. Obviously, Gerry Guthrie, who is a very fine singer, cares about music. And that is refreshing these days!

This is my favourite Gordon Lightfoot song, Gerry does an excellent version..... I also have it by George Hamilton IV, ....Mac Wiseman, and .......Bill Anderson....Can't understand why there aren't any comments.
