Praise God. They don’t have enough content to have a streaming service. Not to mention that we have too many streaming services. Paramount 100% should make shows and movies, and license to other streaming services.

So pretty much 2 birds with one stone, Paramount will remain its own thing while Paramount+ is out. Paramount doesnt have the vast IPs Disney has to warrant a streaming service, or the brand recognition that MAX has.

I like paramount plus because it’s gives content at the best available streaming quality. Unlike Netflix and others who make you pay extra. I watched Beverly Hills cop on Netflix then compared it to paramount + and it was a huge difference in visual and audio quality.

They have plenty of content. It just a matter of whether or not enough people are aware of it, interested in watching it or even realize its from CBS All Access/Paramount Plus. Your Honor was a great show and is getting a lot more attention now that its streaming on Netflix. Evil started off on CBS, then went to Paramount Plus and then just like other shows, got a boost once the first season was out on Netflix. The 2nd season was just added to Netflix a short time ago and the 4th and final season is on Paramount Plus at the moment of this comment.

Hard disagree. They’ve got thousands of hours of content with just the Star Trek and NCIS franchises alone. Plus all the other shows and movies makes it well worth the cost.

I signed up for Paramount Plus for the Super Bowl, and it's the only streaming service I have. With the Nickelodeon catalog, their family content rivals Disney (how many different Mickey Mouse cartoons do I need?). You get the greats like Ren and Stimpy, SpongeBob, and Beavis and Butthead. Twilight Zone is great. For $6, I don't know why more people don't sign up. I'd be sad to see it go.

I would consider Sony's Crackle to be the first casualty. They got into streaming by purchasing Crackle back in 2006 and didn't sell their majority share until 2019. Most or their original content was in the early years. Don't forget about their attempt to get into the streaming cable replacement business with Playstation VUE. It was like Sling or Hulu Live.

I love Jason P. Hunt's "Bring 'Star Trek' Home to NBC" idea and I'm taking it with a grain of stardust and a step further. I say that Paramount should license American TV and stremaing rights for current and future "Star Trek" shows--minus "Prodigy"--to NBCUniversal for airing and streaming across NBC, Telemundo and Peacock and that replace Alex Kurtzman and JJ Abrams as "Star Trek" partners with anyone--like Rober Meyer Burnett--who understands "Star Trek" from the get-go. If Netflix decided not renew "Prodigy" for season three, then I say that Universal Kids should pick it up as part of that Paramount-NBCU "Star Trek" deal. Shout out to Jason and his SciFi4Me TV team.

Honestly Paramount (formerly ViacomCBS) would have been better off if they had just kept their stuff on Hulu and Netflix like they originally had it and not get caught up in a streaming wars in the first place. Honestly, the fact that none of these Services even contemplated how much it would cost to create and maintain an independent streaming platform, tells me that leadership was incredibly shortsighted and naive, and investors are borderline incompetent when it comes to the cost of tech development. The latter which applies to the entire tech industry in general, because it's a large factor in why so many tech companies are doing Mass layoffs. And yet, no one seems to be learning this lesson still.

  • @brandonreed09
    @brandonreed09 3 місяці тому +3

This is seems like a smarter move imo. Right now it's basically a distressed sale. If they can license the content out to platforms that have more subscribers they can increase profitability. That will increase the stock price and increase the acquisition price if they choose to go that route later.

There again, if the IP'S get bided on, Scream and Mission Impossible may get bought by WB, for 2 reasons:
    1. Max is already and been carrying Scream 1-4 for a while now.
    2. Tom Cruise is setting up a new office at WB. So It would make more sense to send Mission Impossible and Top Gun to Max.
For Scream, I would rather WB or Universal buy it. Not Disney. Do not put Scream on Disney Plus, unless Hulu has it.

Been arguing for awhile this is the way most studios should go. They have good shows, but most people only stick with a few services.
Some of those shows would be a genuine hit on, say, Netflix. But most people won't go to Paramount+ just for Star Trek, for example. They just find another show on Netflix.

And, they have bet heavily on nostalgia, but don’t have full series runs of all their classic television series’.

I think I'm kind of glad about this. I wasn't that much of a fan of Parmount+. I loved the Star Trek Shows like Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds on there. But didn't really like the other stuff as much. I think there were some other shows or movies on there that I think I was curious about. But not enough to want to keep this on, and for a while i kind of forgot I had it and forgot to cancel it. I like the idea of licensing their stuff out to the other streaming platforms. i think the only exception to this that I don't like is Peacock. I saw a decent handful of shows on their thought were decent. But didn't have a chance to finish while on my trial for it. Don't have the budget for it to see the stuff i'd like on there.
But yeah, overall, i'm ok with Paramount's stuff going to other platforms.
i just hope the Star Trek stuff ends up on a platform that I already have so as to not pay extra.

Even paramount's free service, pluto tv, probably had better name recognition. Coulda been pluto tv plus... also, I never understood why BET plus was a separate service.... except greed.
