    What about reed strength? A soft reed is going to tend to play flat.
    Also some mouthpieces are pitched at 440 and others at 442. So your tuner should be set accordingly.

      That's a good point! There are a lot of factors that can affect pitch, and it's important to know if your instrument is designed to play at 440 or 442. A tuning chart is one tool in diagnosing problems. It can tell you if there's a problem, but you'll need to experiment to figure out what the problem is.
