I’m a 69-year old, former Zumba instructor (still dance) who never did yoga. I never thought I had the patience for yoga - taking a class required a 30 minute drive and classes were an hour long. I just wanted to dance! Then Covid struck and I discovered YOU and yoga! I started with 30 days of yoga and have moved on to whatever shows up in my UA-cam subscription. My body is so grateful for your easy to follow instructions, the stretching and the calming presence you bring to my life a couple times a week for 20 - 30 minutes. I started my first journey into yoga three months ago, I was just so desperate to find some back pain relief that I just randomly decided to look up a back pain yoga video. That freaking video changed my life, I couldn’t believe that after all this time of doctors, medications, couch sitting and just basically becoming a human sloth... really what I needed to feel better was to show myself a little love on the mat, and accept a little encouragement from Adrienne. My intention for today is: Allow. Allowing myself to feel however I’m feeling; happy or sad or angry or anxious. Allow these feelings to come and go but don’t get consumed by the negative. I just had my physical. I am 25 pounds overweight. Dr says I can't do sit ups due to candidate for hernia. She recommended yoga. I had no idea where to begin. Week 1 so far 4 days in a row I have gone to Yoga with Adriene. I like it cause she's a great instructor and anyone can do it. CLEARLY she knows what she's doing with 7 million views on just one video. I feel so much better starting my day with Yoga. Breathing gets everything flowing. Thanks Adriene and my wife too thanks you.
Just went through all of this for the first time, outside on the grass. I thought I was in touch with my body from lifting weights & running for years but this is a whole different level. Thanks.

Blessed Beloved Beauties! It was peace returning to the session for a 3rd time. Today is Begin Day - 6. I came to my mat in the evening. I haven been feeling under-the-weather with a cold, so a morning practice didn't happen for me. It was refreshing. Wide-legged forward fold was overwhelming with a cold. I had a sneezing attack. Begin day 6. August 2022. We flew from Ireland to Boston yesterday, so waking up with jet lag in a heatwave. Delighted to have my new travel yoga mat and could cast Adriene onto the big screen in the hotel room. What a great practice to begin our holiday. Ready for the day ahead.

Hello Zuri! I had Covid a few weeks back and slowly returned to exercising last week :) Besides that I've been well! I had the chance to travel and meet old friends, so I'm very grateful for that. Hope you can beat your cold soon :)
When I want a slow gentle workout, this is the one. One of the first practices I used when I first discovered you Adriene in April ‘16. Wow almost 5 years and not a day missed and this senior yogi is forever grateful 🙏 this undemanding sequence is super yummy, and with a little core work at the end 😃. Was woken up by a call from a friend last night and he asked this morning if I had wine last night and in explaining my early night was due to two days of intense coaching, I realized I neither drank wine nor wanted to in a while because yoga has been my coping mechanism. Plus it is free. Thank you Ade and to this wonderful community, I am building a deeper, stronger sense of self without the "joints" haha
This looks wonderful! I can't wait to hop on my mat tomorrow morning. I suffer from a panic disorder and I was wondering if you could post a video for anxiety or panic attacks. I find yoga (and you!) really helps me overcome panic but a video dedicated to it would be fantastic.

Please preferably a short sequence that I could do seated at an office or (as I often am) sitting on a crowded train having a stress attack about all I have to do that day! Something that won't make one look goofy around other commuters (but they probably won't notice anyway as we are glued with our heads down in our devices, LOL)
Charlene Barnaba I suggest you look into progressive muscle relaxation/hypnosis. There are many videos on UA-cam about it, you can also do it without the "tensing up" part if you are sitting around a group of people. I'd give you a link, but I've learned my method through a CD. You basically sit comfortably, breathe deep, focus on and relax every single muscle in your body from head to toe. It takes a few minutes, but when coupled with deep breaths it will bring you to a state of complete relaxation. Just start with the guided ones on UA-cam and then you will be able to it by yourself. Also look into a "hypnotic anchor", google it, it's too long for me to explain in this comment section, it's basically something that will allow you to bring yourself to a state of calm only by making an OK sign with your fingers or something simple like that.
Last weekend I had that *moment* when I realized and committed to making healthy life-style changes. I've been doing (beginner) yoga every morning this week with whatever I can find on youtube. This was, by far, the best one I've come across. Adriene, you are so authentic during your class that I am able to relate and feel like I am a part of this community even though my body is NOT like yours. I have never giggled during yoga until today. This was truly, happy yoga, which is the best way to start the day. Thank you so much!
I love that I found this, I haven't been able to go to the studio that I love, my battle with cancer has left me weak and now I have other things, but still all in all I'm doing really good and so far the cancer has not returned . Going on 5 years. Thank you so much!!

have you ever thought about doing a yoga video for ptsd? a lot of root and sacral work, plus heart to let love back in. I do it on my own, but I would love to see a Adrienne video for it!!
Miss Pinkkush it helps because it gets you out of your mind and into your body and the present moment. meditation does that as well, even more so, but yoga is often more attainable for people with PTSD(which is an anxiety disorder) than meditation because frequently people who have PTSD are scared to close their eyes and too anxious to sit still(like me when I first started) so my psychologist did yoga with me. and at the end of yoga you do a meditation called savasana. after you get all sweaty and tired it's easier to sink into the moment and feel your body. that is a vital, vital part that she glosses over in her videos because savasana is personal meditation time and some people do it for 3 minutes and others do it for 45. do not skip over savasana, the anxyolitic benefits of yoga will be mostly lost. she actually just put out a root chakra video on Thanksgiving! some great root poses are in there. other poses I do that help me are camel pose, cat and cow, downward dog, up dog, goddess, cobblers, lizard, frog variation where you do splits, um.. basically things that put my butt out of sight and away from my body. it helps me because it scares me and pushes me out of my comfort zone. slowly I am able to trust the present moment enough to close my eyes in certain poses. I stopped practicing for a couple months and damn, after a few weeks my anxiety skyrocketed and i feel as if I am starting from square one on my mat again....
I feel like I'm just going to say the same thing as everyone else, but I just found you today, and i love your yoga. you make it feel so peaceful, yet funny, like you are enjoying life and feeling each moment... you make me feel like i can too. And you make it feel so close... like i can copy you and we'll learn it together. it is so relaxing in a way that energizes me and still helps me feel patience with myself. like i can do this thing, called life, i mean yoga. thank you. :)

Day 11 Meditate - a great way to start the week! When I woke up I was dreading to start off my day because of all the things I have to get done, but this was a sweet mindful way to start
Trying to get myself back into shape and this exercise feels the most comfortable to me. My boyfriend is wonderfully pushing me to not lose weight but be happy, feel good and be healthy again. Wish me luck! ...please
I didn't do this practice in the morning (more like early afternoon) and I haven't really been consistent with practicing, but it really helped so much. I've been so down lately with my father's passing in December, weight gain through quarantine, and my grandmother just passed away Sunday. It feels like life has been sea of darkness with some glimmers of happiness in between. This practice made me realize something while doing it; everything will be okay. There are tough things but you get through them, just like how I can sometimes struggle to do moves, I still manage to do them at least for a little. Thank you Adrienne for everything you do. You are a beautiful soul.

Embody Day 23 ✨ Practices which are longer than 20 mins usually challenge my motivation, but I rarely regret doing them in the end. They get me into more of a flow and deeper state of serenity.
I have been doing yoga for four months and just today during savasana, I closed my eyes and tears started to come out. And two mintues later, I was filled with tears. Out of all the videos that I have tried by you, I have not cried until today. Perhaps it could be because I did not have a good day today. Thank you for this video. Namaste 🙏🏼🙇

Mar 23, 2022 05:26 Intention : embody no complain day, for challenges is good for me. I feel good when a challenging routine or task is achieved whether through the practice or my life in general I find challenge as my tool to become better rather than a hardship that keeps me down. That freaking video changed my life, I couldn’t believe that after all this time of doctors, medications, couch sitting and just basically becoming a human sloth... really what I needed to feel better was to show myself a little love on the mat, and accept a little encouragement from Adrienne. I just had my physical. I am 25 pounds overweight. Dr says I can't do sit ups due to candidate for hernia. She recommended yoga. I had no idea where to begin. Week 1 so far 4 days in a row I have gone to Yoga with Adriene. I like it cause she's a great instructor and anyone can do it. CLEARLY she knows what she's doing with 7 million views on just one video. I feel so much better starting my day with Yoga. Breathing gets everything flowing. Thanks Adriene and my wife too thanks you.

Blessed Beloved Beauties! It was peace returning to the session for a 3rd time. Today is Begin Day - 6. I came to my mat in the evening. I haven been feeling under-the-weather with a cold, so a morning practice didn't happen for me. It was refreshing. Wide-legged forward fold was overwhelming with a cold. I had a sneezing attack. When I want a slow gentle workout, this is the one. One of the first practices I used when I first discovered you Adriene in April ‘16. Wow almost 5 years and not a day missed and this senior yogi is forever grateful 🙏 this undemanding sequence is super yummy, and with a little core work at the end 😃. Was woken up by a call from a friend last night and he asked this morning if I had wine last night and in explaining my early night was due to two days of intense coaching, I realized I neither drank wine nor wanted to in a while because yoga has been my coping mechanism. Plus it is free. Thank you Ade and to this wonderful community, I am building a deeper, stronger sense of self without the "joints" haha
This looks wonderful! I can't wait to hop on my mat tomorrow morning. I suffer from a panic disorder and I was wondering if you could post a video for anxiety or panic attacks. I find yoga (and you!) really helps me overcome panic but a video dedicated to it would be fantastic.

Please preferably a short sequence that I could do seated at an office or (as I often am) sitting on a crowded train having a stress attack about all I have to do that day! Something that won't make one look goofy around other commuters (but they probably won't notice anyway as we are glued with our heads down in our devices, LOL)

Charlene Barnaba I suggest you look into progressive muscle relaxation/hypnosis. There are many videos on UA-cam about it, you can also do it without the "tensing up" part if you are sitting around a group of people.
I'd give you a link, but I've learned my method through a CD.
You basically sit comfortably, breathe deep, focus on and relax every single muscle in your body from head to toe. It takes a few minutes, but when coupled with deep breaths it will bring you to a state of complete relaxation.
Just start with the guided ones on UA-cam and then you will be able to it by yourself. Also look into a "hypnotic anchor", google it, it's too long for me to explain in this comment section, it's basically something that will allow you to bring yourself to a state of calm only by making an OK sign with your fingers or something simple like that.
Last weekend I had that *moment* when I realized and committed to making healthy life-style changes. I've been doing (beginner) yoga every morning this week with whatever I can find on youtube. This was, by far, the best one I've come across. Adriene, you are so authentic during your class that I am able to relate and feel like I am a part of this community even though my body is NOT like yours. I have never giggled during yoga until today. This was truly, happy yoga, which is the best way to start the day. Thank you so much!

I love that I found this, I haven't been able to go to the studio that I love, my battle with cancer has left me weak and now I have other things, but still all in all I'm doing really good and so far the cancer has not returned . Going on 5 years. Thank you so much!!

My intention was to finish the practice. And I did. 11 months weigh Adriene. The longest I’ve done. A true change in my life ❤ wonder day 3 ❤
have you ever thought about doing a yoga video for ptsd? a lot of root and sacral work, plus heart to let love back in. I do it on my own, but I would love to see a Adrienne video for it!!
Miss Pinkkush it helps because it gets you out of your mind and into your body and the present moment. meditation does that as well, even more so, but yoga is often more attainable for people with PTSD(which is an anxiety disorder) than meditation because frequently people who have PTSD are scared to close their eyes and too anxious to sit still(like me when I first started) so my psychologist did yoga with me. and at the end of yoga you do a meditation called savasana. after you get all sweaty and tired it's easier to sink into the moment and feel your body. that is a vital, vital part that she glosses over in her videos because savasana is personal meditation time and some people do it for 3 minutes and others do it for 45. do not skip over savasana, the anxyolitic benefits of yoga will be mostly lost.
she actually just put out a root chakra video on Thanksgiving! some great root poses are in there. other poses I do that help me are camel pose, cat and cow, downward dog, up dog, goddess, cobblers, lizard, frog variation where you do splits, um.. basically things that put my butt out of sight and away from my body. it helps me because it scares me and pushes me out of my comfort zone. slowly I am able to trust the present moment enough to close my eyes in certain poses. I stopped practicing for a couple months and damn, after a few weeks my anxiety skyrocketed and i feel as if I am starting from square one on my mat again....
I feel like I'm just going to say the same thing as everyone else, but I just found you today, and i love your yoga. you make it feel so peaceful, yet funny, like you are enjoying life and feeling each moment... you make me feel like i can too. And you make it feel so close... like i can copy you and we'll learn it together. it is so relaxing in a way that energizes me and still helps me feel patience with myself. like i can do this thing, called life, i mean yoga. thank you. :)

I didn't do this practice in the morning (more like early afternoon) and I haven't really been consistent with practicing, but it really helped so much. I've been so down lately with my father's passing in December, weight gain through quarantine, and my grandmother just passed away Sunday. It feels like life has been sea of darkness with some glimmers of happiness in between. This practice made me realize something while doing it; everything will be okay. There are tough things but you get through them, just like how I can sometimes struggle to do moves, I still manage to do them at least for a little. Thank you Adrienne for everything you do. You are a beautiful soul.
So sorry you have had so much sadness. You are right, you will get through it but I see you and send you love and strength 💞

Embody Day 23 ✨ Practices which are longer than 20 mins usually challenge my motivation, but I rarely regret doing them in the end. They get me into more of a flow and deeper state of serenity.

Amazing morning practice once again - I love everything about daily yoga practice, the commitment, the sense of accomplishment, the nourished and cherished body, the spirit that is soothed each day, the motivation and inspiration that is infused and then passed on. One of my favourites, I never tire of doing this practice. My intention for today is "be happy", at the moment that's proving a tough thing to do some days🙏.
So I was lazy this morning, but decided to try this practice before bed. It was wonderful! This is a perfect morning practice, but it’s also quite lovely to get in some movement and exercise before winding down for the evening. Namaste 😌
Yet another excellent practice, very different from yesterday, nobody can get bored following the ACT April playlist ! Thanks Adriene !

3weeks complete today for this month!!! Today is also my youngest birthday, he's 2!!! I also woke up not feeling very well so today has been a little rough and even though I struggled with today's yoga I pushed through. ❤️ Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Thank you, Adriene, for contributing to my sanity and healthy body. I am 54 years old and rely now on yoga over Advil, to relieve my pain. My husband is a muscular carpenter(also 54) and finds relief in this practice, as well. Your program brings both of us joy and comfort.
To the move people here I am sending you all my love and good energy for everyone that needs it right now! ❤ I can definitely say that move is my favorite calender practice after our breath thank you Adriene for sharing this journey with all of us 🙏

Day 21 - Move Calendar - March 2021 - Setting the intention to keep moving even though I’m late in doing phthisic practice today (1.21pm on the beautiful Sunday Morning) it was still an awesome yummy practice. And I am so proud of myself that I keep showing up on the mat and taking this time for myself... Namaste Yogis 👍😁😘

Intention : embody no complain day, for challenges is good for me.
I feel good when a challenging routine or task is achieved whether through the practice or my life in general I find challenge as my tool to become better rather than a hardship that keeps me down. This practice reminds me of that positive attitude to stop complaining and start doing to keep on progressing.

What a beautiful practice! I feel happy. Today is going to be a wonderful day. Thank you Adriene. You have no idea how much you have helped me. I had trouble sleeping awhile ago. The craziest part was I didn't even know what was on my mind or why I felt so low and lost. But now I have something to look forward to everyday. I sleep like a child. I feel happier and peaceful. Yesterday I completed 30 days of yoga. Before that I would just do some random practices depending upon what I needed. Have a nice day Adriene. Namaste.
